    float advice?

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 03:22 PM PDT

any advice for someone who wants to float, but usually ends up stomping, to the top of the mat from down dog >> forward fold? The more I practice, the better it's getting, but my knees still want to splay out, and I feel like that may not be safe. Thank you in advance :)

Had a good cry session during my yoga practice today

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 08:18 PM PDT

It was a heart-opening chakra flow (shout out Yoga with Adriene) and I sobbed for the first 15 minutes I think? I don't know. It just felt so good. I've never really had that happen before. Any similar experiences with you guys?

    Cold weather yoga clothes!

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 08:00 PM PDT

Since COVID began, I have started doing yoga every day. Each morning I like to wake up early and do a long session on my porch. However, I'm finding that as the weather in my climate is getting colder, some mornings it's almost too chilly. I like to wear yoga pants, and occasionally grippy socks if it's extra cold, but I haven't found much in the way of tops that I like for cold weather. I prefer to just wear a sports bra, and I have a single tight long sleeve that isn't bad, but I find shirts that are long or baggy either are uncomfortable, get in the way or end up making me TOO hot by the end of my practice. What types of clothing would you guys suggest for colder practices? Or is it time for me to head indoors?

    Dude, yoga is freaking great.

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 12:14 AM PDT

I've always been very very physically active. Usually only get breaks on sundays, since quarantine it's slowed down to just leisurely running and jump rope and while that was fun I just felt like....bad. Lethargic you could say. I hadn't been eating great. But tonight I thought "F*** it" and looked up some poses and just finished em right now. I feel like cleaner. Smoother and calmed out. I felt a serious burn in my legs at one point and it was way easier to enjoy and push through then working out ever was. I don't know much about yoga but I don't think this'll be the only night.

    Yoga and orthostatic issues

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 03:55 PM PDT

Hello! I used to do yoga all the time, but my health hasn't been the best. I have POTS, which means any postural change throws my body off and I have been prone to pass out, due to my blood pressure dropping. I was curious if anyone has been successful with doing yoga with pots? I try to do a lot of seated and laying down poses, it is just hard when I don't have a huge yoga background and there isn't much I can find when it comes to this.

    Feedback about moxie sound quality?

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 07:10 PM PDT

So I taught my first real class today and was wondering if any other yoga teachers or students that have used moxie have feedback on the sound.

I used earbuds so that my voice would pick up whether I was watching or demonstrating, but it still seemed like it was cutting out awkwardly when I spoke. Like what happens when two people put each other on speakerphone.

I got the premium music thing with 6 channels because music is really important to me and the worst thing in the world is trying to groove to music when it's tinny or fuzzy/distorted right? I'm hoping it sounds smoother for the listener than the broadcaster.

I obviously asked the people in the class too but I just kind of wanted to open a discussion on it. I also saw viopass and livekick as possible platforms.

    Thank you in advance!

    Similar to Yoga with Kassandra

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 07:33 AM PDT

I'm a totally n00b. I've been practicing (mostly daily) for three months now. I've tried other YouTubers (sorry, I just don't vibe with Adrienne, I know she's popular). I am looking for other suggestions similar to Kassandra. I love the way she flows. Thank you!! I'm excited to be here.

    Plow pose

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 02:58 PM PDT

Hi everyone! It is my first (and timid) post. I have started yoga at the beginning of lockdown in my country using Down Dog (mostly Halta level intermediate 1) and there is plow pose that starts to appear but I seem to not be able to get into the pose (my back litteraly refuse to get off the mat). What can I do to be able to get into it?

    Thanks

Seeing visions of color and light during meditation

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 01:48 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I had a very intense experience the other day during my savasana after a long and very challenging practice. I could not feel my limbs anymore and I was seeing visions of color/light, first a deep blue and then it morphed into a brilliant purple light. It lasted maybe a few minutes before I came back down to earth. I was in absolute bliss for the rest of the evening. Has anybody else experienced this, or does anybody have any explanation at all? It was like I was in a dream state but I was very aware of everything happening. I'm interested to hear of any similar experiences

    Where's the yoga?

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 10:54 AM PDT

Genuinely curious why the yoga thread is mostly poses? Anyone else here wish the yoga thread had more yoga in it? ...for over a decade I thought yoga was about how cool/perfect my poses looked, and then I was introduced to yoga therapy several years ago (TKV Desikachar tradition if anyone is curious) and learned about breathing and meditation. And that you can't take those, along with spirituality and the innumerable texts that dive into that, out of yoga and still call it yoga. If you do, you're more doing yoga-inspired poses. Would love to create a more well-rounded yoga thread that reflects the true nature of yoga and create education on how important it is to focus beyond the physical posture.

    BPPV The Yoga Boogyman

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I had my first bout of vertigo when turning over in bed and learned about BPPV in the process. Basically you can dislodge crystals in your ear that go into the wrong canal and send false signals which creates the vertigo. Luckily you can correct it with various maneuvers.

BPPV has ultimately given me PTSD from doing Yoga at all. I haven't had an episode for a couple weeks but just wanted to vent how much I miss Yoga. Are there any other BPPV sufferers out there that were able to continue without recurrences?

    Advice

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 08:41 AM PDT

Hey, this is regarding yoga but also general exercise so any advice would be appreciated. I've just had a biopsy on my lower back today and I'm suppose to take it easy to allow the stitches to heal. I've only just started back at the gym after many months of being stuck at home so I still want to workout (even if I can't do as much) but I'm not sure what exercise would be acceptable. Also I don't want to completely stop my yoga practice but again I'm just afraid of bursting my stitches by stretching. The doctor wasn't very helpful. If anyone has had a similar experience affecting the lower back please let me know what you did :)

Camel pose! Relative newbie - had no spatial awareness of one of my feet. The left

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 02:29 AM PDT

Weird. In class did Camel pose for first time. Could not for the life of me find my left heel. I had no spatial awareness of it. Was ok with the right. Why is it that one side of our bodies is not the same as the other? How do I find my left foot in Camel pose?
