- Any tips/exercises/videos to help progress jump through & jump backs? I had been focusing on the poses and would transition as a beginner but now I feel ready to focus on learning the jumps. Thanks
Weekly Practice Discussion - May 10, 2020 Posted: 10 May 2020 06:10 AM PDT Welcome to the weekly practice thread. This thread is dedicated to discussion of how our practice is going, where we would like it to go, and where it has been. Have a great week. Mod Team [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 May 2020 01:01 AM PDT I have been practicing primary for 3 years on and off now . The series is still quite challenging for me. But I think my body is now much used to practice the whole series. I used to sweat so much in my practice and always needed to bring a towel to the shala. Nowadays, I don't really break a sweat when I'm doing home practice. Is this because of the room temperature? (My apt is def colder than shala). Or it's because something is going on in my body? If you have similar experience, love you hear your POV! Thank uuuuu! [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 May 2020 06:11 PM PDT Hey everyone. I've been practicing ashtanga for around about 6 months now, and over the last 6 weeks or so have been practicing full primary 5-6 days a week. Normally after practice and before savasana I'll do a little bit of pranayama as taught at my shala, but recently I've been instead entering savasana, waiting until my breath is uniform and regular, and then doing 3 rounds of Wim Hof breathing (controlled hyperventilation followed by breath retention) and having a cold shower afterwards. I feel great doing this, but I haven't seen reports of anyone else taking on this practice. So I guess my question is, to those who have been practicing longer than I have, is this a good idea? I know there is a set pranayama sequence, but this alternative seems to work for me - does that make it OK? Am I losing the benefits of 'pure' savasana by combining it with an alternative pranayama sequence? And what about the cold shower ~10 minutes or so after ending practice? Very interested to hear your thoughts, thanks! I would ask my teacher but we're in isolation haha. [link] [comments]

Question. I practice all of the seated but struggle with closing poses. More in comments. Posted: 10 May 2020 03:13 PM PDT For backbends I do bridges after that I'm out until boat pose, sealing, sprung up. Shoulder stands are painful. Are there any recommendations to incorporate after bridges? Unfortunately even with a teacher my dr advises against shoulder stand and head stands. Thanks! [link] [comments]
