Starting to see progress towards the side splits. Much more comfortable getting into and holding the position as well. Slowly but surely!

    Bumping in stretches: unsafe?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT

The recommended routine says "Do 10 small gentle bumping movements into the stretch". But I've heard that is supposed to be bad for you.

For example: "The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons warns against bouncing stretches, as does the American College of Sports Medicine." source.

Is there some difference between bouncing and bumping that I'm overlooking here? Is the advice to bounce unsafe? Or is the common recommendation not to bounce flawed?

    Elbows literally can’t straighten

    Posted: 09 May 2020 04:09 PM PDT

It's something I was born with, arms that are completely unable to straighten. I have trouble doing some things such as push-ups for an extended amount of time. I have never injured my arms. What exactly is it? Can I get rid of it?

    Improve hamstring flexibility for deadlifts

    Posted: 09 May 2020 09:00 AM PDT

I'm trying to increase my hamstring flexibility to improve my deadlift form using this stretch:

Which is better and why: holding this stretch for 5 minutes once per day or holding a stretch for 1 minute 5 times a day?

How long should I hold my splits for?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 09:24 AM PDT

I stretch usually 5 times a week (I'm trying to do more though) and when I do stretch, I hold each splits (left, right, middle) for 2 minutes. Should I hold it for longer to get more flexible? Or should I just keep holding it for 2 minutes?
