| Stumbled upon this sub yesterday and I am interested but, why exactly do YOU stretch? Posted: 25 Mar 2020 05:20 PM PDT So I'm interested in working out regularly and also want to get inti yoga, then I saw this reddit and I thought "Hey, it would be nice to stretch and get more flexible" but then I started wondering why do you guys stretch? Do you do some sort of sport or activity that benefits from it? Do you do yoga? Do you simply stretch to achieve something with your body? I want ti know your reasons for it [link] [comments] | ||
| unable to stretch quads due to knee pain Posted: 25 Mar 2020 06:34 AM PDT so basically i have the condition osgood schlatters, (inflammation around the top of the shin bone) and it is caused mainly by tight quads, hams, calves. i have no problem stretching my hams and my calves but whenever i stretch my quads the inflamed part hurts a lot because the tendon connecting to my quad muscles are pulling on the bone. so how can i still stretch my quads without aggravating my knee? | I faced off against my feelings today and won Posted: 25 Mar 2020 02:06 PM PDT I have been following along with Anna McNulty and her stretching routines on YouTube for the past few days, and I almost didn't stretch today because I am intimidated by her ability. I faced that feeling though, I realized if I keep at it and stretch everyday then maybe someday I can get into the same poses she can. It's a process, not a contest. I'm very proud of myself. | Posted: 25 Mar 2020 03:44 PM PDT I'm somewhat flexible and have recently started stretching an hour a day due to the quarantine. What I'm wondering is if it's safe to get for that long everyday, or are rest days needed? Thanks for any advice. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Mar 2020 11:39 AM PDT So because of an aerial silks class, I'm having to stretch regularly for the first time in my life. Does starting a stretching routine cause pain? I'm worried about overstretching but I'm not sure that's the problem. The pain is primarily in my inner thighs and the back of my knees, and feels like a tightness that only gets worse when I stretch. Any tips on how to fix or prevent it getting worse? | I can't tell if I'm doing a stretch wrong or I'm just double-jointed or too flexible Posted: 25 Mar 2020 11:28 AM PDT So I've recently started to try and live a healthier lifestyle and every time I'm using my workout app it tells me to do a shoulder stretch with a towel behind my back. Also a side note, I'm actually flexible enough to grab my hands behind my head in the very same position without needing the towel. Supposedly this stretch supposed to hit my delts, pecs, traps, lats, and rotator cuffs most of which are sore from the actual workout but I never feel a good stretch from this. Instead, it feels like I'm just pushing my shoulder joint to the absolute limit where it's pushing against itself and my muscles and connecting tissue don't feel any sort of pulling stretch. I don't think I'm doing the stretch wrong but it also doesn't feel like it's working. Does anyone else have experience with this sort of issue or what are some other stretches I could do instead that would effectively target the desired muscles? [link] [comments] |
