Yoga Routine For Depression That Isn't So Slow? Posted: 31 May 2021 05:12 PM PDT I've been struggling with depression and have fallen off of my yoga routine lately and wanted something to help me get back into things and distract me from my thoughts. The videos I've been finding for depression are all realllllllllllyyyyyyyy slow. I get bored during them and get distracted by my thoughts and then get frustrated and stop. Can anyone recommend a routine or even some poses to help energize me and get into a better mindset? I need something that's a good distraction. I need something that gets me moving but isn't full on exercise. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 06:05 PM PDT Will I look like a d-bag if I wear spandex shorts to hot yoga as a man? I don't see too many other guys wearing them but also it's so damn hot and other shorts often hold so much sweat or restrict mobility. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 05:04 PM PDT This may be a bizarre question but, is there any conection between hugging and the yoga or buddhist practices or philosophy? I will explain myself: one of my dearest friends (and now ex partner) is a certified yoga instructor, yoga is her life besides dancing. She is having her birthday next month and since we have a history of very special hugs in special moments, I would like to gift her something related to hugs. Anything. It would be a fantastic gift. Thank you all! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 08:11 PM PDT I am already pretty flexible but want to try a yoga routine. Any good ones out there I can try out? By the way my goal is to be able to put my legs behind my head [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 01:40 PM PDT Long story short, I'm out of shape. I haven't been in a gym or studio since last March. I'm fully vaccinated and would like to go back in-person soon. I've tried a home practice and I just hate it. I need the dedicated space, the community, a coach to help adjust and direct me. And I don't feel I get the same benefits I do from a 45 minutes YWA video than I do in a structured class. I'm 26M. I've never had a yoga practice that's consistent. I find myself a beginner. I'm so drawn to the practice for both mindfulness aspects and because I find it such an alluring challenge. With that, I would likely benefit from some instruction on my form. I'm sure it's rusty/not great. So here's the issue, my car is a clunker. It can really only go 5-10 miles at a time. I know. I'm working on it. But, all that's nearby are hot yoga studios. I like the idea, but I'm worried. Perhaps I'm overthinking? I've done heated once. Accidentally walked into the wrong class a few years ago lol. So, not a good barometer. But I guess I'm worried it's not beginner friendly. And I also worry, being as out of shape I am (not like, overweight but get winded easily), perhaps I can't do it to start. Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm avoidant and nervous. I'm also kind of self conscious about my body. I've heard hot yoga is amazing for you, but also it comes with some risk. There's just nothing else near me. I also want to begin transforming my body. I move in 2 months and want to feel tone, fit and in-shape. Will hot yoga do this for me? I'd like it to be my primary workout. So I guess, there's lots of questions as a beginner. What to wear? Is this safe? How do I approach it? How many times a week can I/should I practice (I have a habit of going too hard and getting hurt)? I know this is a lot. I've just found little joy in my home practice and everything is heated. So as someone who's been on my couch for a year, I'm a bit nervous [link] [comments] |
Is there a name for the 60 exhale practice? Posted: 31 May 2021 02:39 PM PDT I went to hot yoga at a brand new studio today and at the end of class, our instructor called us to exhale 60x without inhaling. She called this practice something but I forget the name of it. Has anyone done anything similar before? [link] [comments] |
Poses to relieve sinus pressure? Posted: 31 May 2021 06:09 PM PDT Can anyone recommend a pose to relieve, or at least not worsen, sinus pressure? I have a sinus infection that makes it very painful to even tilt my head forward. The pain is especially bad under my eyes. I think something these times where "restrictions" are imposed on my practice offer great opportunities to learn new things, so I am looking forward to reading your suggestions! [link] [comments] |
Advice for consistent practice? Posted: 31 May 2021 08:22 AM PDT So at one point I tried a lot to do yoga daily or every other day. But somehow I fell off and I just don't feel to move for anxiety/depression reasons. Do you have any advice on how I can get back into it? And probably be a little consistent? Whose videos would you recommend besides Adrienne's? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 12:47 PM PDT Hello all! I am looking to increase my knowledge of yoga and different styles and flows. However, with my job and work hours, it is difficult to attend a class. Generally I make use of the many great videos on YouTube, but I would like to get to a point of knowing the basics of different styles so I can complete my own flows without someone having to guide me. Can anyone recommend some resources or books to get and study? Any help is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 08:58 AM PDT Hello, so I have some really bad posture problems like anterior pelvic tilt, weak back and when I sit on the ground with my legs straight my lower back is still rounded. Will doing these yoga videos that a friend shown me help with my posture problems? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 01:54 PM PDT This may be weird to ask, but how many yoga mats is too many? I have three, and I feel like I DO NOT use them equally -- and yet I feel apprehension about donating any of them. As a self-proclaimed minimalist, this is a weird situation I find myself in: I know for a fact that two of them rarely get any use, and yet I cannot seem to part with them. So, how many do you think is too many? How many do you have? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 11:57 AM PDT Does anyone have experience with the Manduka GRP mat? If so how do you clean it? Also, I noticed I still tend to slip around when I start sweating and the instructor said that it takes time for the mat to fully break in. Is this true? [link] [comments] |
Which type of yoga to start with? Posted: 31 May 2021 11:29 AM PDT I am currently on a path of spirituality and have come across yoga in many learnings as a key to it. I want to start but there are so many variations of it. A friend of mine told me to start with ashtanga yoga because the trainers must pass a difficult test and are thus good teachers. I am also at a position where I cannot really afford group classes so I will have to learn from YouTube most likely. Unless you folks highly recommended not to. Which would you recommend and why? Posted: 31 May 2021 11:26 AM PDT I am asked to become member to read information on yoga international.com website, I was wondering if I should sign up for do you guys have any recommendation for other good resources for information on yoga asanas and sequences? Posted: 31 May 2021 08:33 AM PDT ive been doing yoga at home for about a year, mainly from youtube, and consider myself intermediate-advanced when it comes to asanas. i can do most arm balanced and inversions. now i feel like most videos are slow paced and repetitive, and i rarely get to try new poses. does anybody knows any good yoga teachers, preferably on youtube, who are challenging and offer interesting variations? ive tried ashtanga but i dont really like the repetition aspect of it thanks in advance! I’m feeling very dizzy today, should I still go to my Yoga class? Posted: 31 May 2021 07:08 AM PDT Today I woke up feeling very dizzy (don't know why, I had been having troubles with vertigo since 2021 started) and I'm debating between going to my yoga class in an hour or not. This would be my third class, I'm new to yoga. (Last class I actually fell and hurt my shin, pretty embarrassing to be honest) (Sorry for any typos, english is not my first language) [link] [comments] |
Why is it when I’m in plow pose- Posted: 31 May 2021 03:58 AM PDT I feel a warm, fiery, sexual feeling in my spine and stomach? I've been wondering about it for a while now and wonder if anybody can help me understand. [link] [comments] |
