Any yoga you tubers similiar to Adriene, perhaps a bit more challenging? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 03:19 AM PDT I've been doing yoga with Adriene for years and I love her personality and following her calendars. However lately I've been feeling somewhat unmotivated by her videos and I also feel like They are getting repetitive plus she's stopped releasing new videos every Sunday and is instead doing once a month. I know this is probably to drive people to her paid membership but that's just not something I can do right now. I will always love adriana and will probably continue to do her calendars butttt I'm hoping to find someone new to intersperse. Maybe someone with a different kind of yoga or who teaches more challenging poses and such. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:42 PM PDT so the other day I was in class thinking about how I could make myself better at poses. And I asked myself to come up with a mantra. don't ask me why. just did, in class. and then a phrase entered my head. it wasn't like I thought of it. the phrase was CONSIDER EVERY MOVE. which was perfect. only later did I see its wider application and was mightily impressed. yoga inspires you to inspire you. if that makes sense. I just love yoga. Namaste. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:28 AM PDT Hi everyone, I hope you're all staying safe and healthy. As I've been deepening my practice, I've been finding that many of the more spiritual aspects of yoga are at odds with my current religious practice. I've been feeling a lot of resistance and internal conflict rise up lately during my yoga practice- I want to practice as fully and authentically as I can and honor yoga's history as a religious and spiritual practice, yet part of me feels as if I am betraying my religious identity when I do so. What has helped you balance yoga's religious roots with your own belief system? Edit: I'm Jewish (secular yet actively practicing), if that helps provide some clarity. [link] [comments]
| Practicing for 8 months and still can’t do crow (or other arm balances) - tips? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 06:20 PM PDT I've been practicing yoga pretty consistently for the past 8 months, at least 3-4 days a week, but I am still unable to do crow or other arm balances. Is this an unusually long time? Also, any advice on strengthening my upper body or getting myself ready for those arm balances? What about easier balances I can try to build up to crow? | Why do some stretches hurt worse afterwards, whilst others feel like a relief? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 03:18 PM PDT Why during my yoga for head and neck pain does some of the stretches hurt worse afterwards while others feel relaxed and relieving? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Mar 2020 08:23 PM PDT Hi friends! So as my post says above, I was recently injured at work and I'm on medication that is compromising my immune system as well as being an asthmatic. I've been out of work for a month now because I completely submerged my foot in 325 degree oil. 2 operations later and I was supposed to start physical therapy this week to start regaining strength in my body as well as my foot. All of my foot exercises were shown to me and I feel comfortable doing them on my own since my doctor recommended strongly against me going to the physical therapy office as to limit any unnecessary exposure. She said as for the body strength for now I should look into stuff I can do that doesn't involve me bearing weight on both feet. So anything else is fair game but I'm unsure what would be good to do as I am very weak, slow and stiff right now and don't know much about stuff I could do while sitting, laying etc. [link] [comments]
What are the preparatory exercises for Vakrasana and eventually Matsyendrasana (Lord of The Fishes)? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 08:22 PM PDT Vakrasana is recommended to do before the full spinal twist, but I'm even having trouble with that. Here are two basic videos explaining the idea -- 1,2 My problem is I can't quite stretch my arm to reach the other side properly. They say to place your arm on your leg by your armpit, which allows you to reach your foot, but all I can reach is my elbow. I try very hard to do it, leaning forward more, pulling leg in more, but nevertheless always come up short. Does anyone have any exercises that can help me get into this pose, and eventually the full Lord of The Fishes pose? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

| Yoga challenge/routine focused on flexibility Posted: 18 Mar 2020 01:26 PM PDT Hey guys. I'm currently training 6x a week for strength and cardio, and I'd like to add a gentle yoga routine that is focused on stretching. My muscles are usually pretty taxed after a workout so I don't want a yoga routine that involves a lot of strenuous poses. I could just google stretches and do them but it would be nice to have some kind of long running program or challenge to follow so I can see my progress. Anything like that out there? | Any prenatal yoga suggestions? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 05:47 PM PDT I did a search and found some videos from SaraBeth, but she only has a couple, didn't know if there was anyone out there with more. [link] [comments] |
Is the Yoga with Adriene Paid subscription worth it ? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 03:11 PM PDT Basicly the title. I've been doing yoga with adriene for 3 months. Just found out today from this sub that she has a page with a subscription service. Do you guys think it's worth buying ? Or should I just keep doing her free videos?. [link] [comments]
Difficulty getting into starting positions Posted: 18 Mar 2020 10:56 AM PDT Hello. I'll be quick and simple. I' ve been practicing yoga for the past 1,5 month about once a week with a teacher and 2-3 times 60-90 minutes each at home with an app ( down dog). So, I have a problem with getting into some starting positions like the one where you are sitting down, 1 leg straight and the other bends backwards with the heel reaching for the glute. What should I do as the app progresses? Should I try to get into that position for the duration of the pose? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Looking for a specific mat that I lost in a car accident Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:55 AM PDT Hi all - namaste :) - I hope this is allowed. my car was recently totaled and my beloved yoga mat was in the trunk. I am looking for the exact same one but I can't find it. I got it from tj max so they are long gone. It it was pink, it had alignment marks and it was super heavy. It seemed like one side was rubber and the other side was almost some sort of micro fiber (almost like suede) - it had a slight rubbery smell to it. I reaaaallly enjoyed that mat...if anyone recognizes the description I would be so grateful to know what brand it might be. [link] [comments]
