My Airbnb roommate in China has this lazy cat named Baozi (包子) and he practiced with me every day like this when I was there last year.

How To Chaturanga Dandasana my Quaratine Away

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 04:50 PM PDT

    Hello you crazy kids!

I've seen a fair amount of crow COMPs, which is great an all but not that realistic for some of us *cough me cough*. So I decided to challenge you high flyers with some Chaturanga Dandasana. That''s right folks, I'm taking my quarantine back to basics.

I must admit that Chaturanga and I haven't always gotten along. I went on this sun salutation kick last year and ended up busting my shoulder and my ego because of our dear friend, Chaturanga. I've resolved to get it right this year, and there's no time like the 24/7 lock down my state is currently under.

I'm following the recommendations from here get it started, and my quarantine goal is to hold it for 5 secs.

So come along and join me on my beginners crusade. Please share your Chaturanga pics or videos. The one who can hold it the longest wins! Jk. But that would be cool to see how long people can hold it...

Also, if you can please share any tips and tricks that helped you. Thanks!

    Pranayama and disease

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 07:24 PM PDT

Disclaimer I do not know much about the deeper aspects of pranayama, so this is a request for others expertise.

I'm wondering if there is anything in pranayama theory that would bolster lung immunity. Could any of these techniques be used to help migitate diseases like covid that attack the lungs.

Is intentional manipulation of prana a useful technique in fighting disease?

(Obviously I am aware this is outside the realm of what is studied by normal medicine or science.)

[COMP] Working towards my Chaturanga Dandasana

In times of uncertainty, it's time to brush up on the sutras

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 06:40 AM PDT

Whenever I find myself getting anxious, I always turn to the yoga Sutras for the stability that they offer me. While we are in quarantine, why not dive back to the root of it all? I found that it's ironic that we've found comradery in the shared experience of isolation and social distancing. Let's remind ourselves that we are not our thoughts, and we are all in this together :)

    Namaste friends.

    Sit with your fears

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:57 AM PDT

    Hi everyone.

I imagine most of you are isolating right now, and judging by the flurry of lovely COMP posts, many of you are experimenting, learning or improving your asana practice.

Alongside this, I'd like to recommend taking time to just sit quietly (or to do a meditation practice of your choice). These are troubling times, and I feel its worth recognising our worries and fears. They are part of us and part of our world for now.

If I'm feeling troubled, I try to do the following:

    • Sit somewhere quiet (eyes open or closed).
    • Observe the thoughts and feelings that come up.
    • Don't push them away. Embrace them with love and acceptance, OR just accept them as a valid response to the situation (depending on your disposition)
    • Keep breathing for a time.

Basically - give yourself space to understand what you're feeling. It will help you in the long term.

    That's the lot.

    Om shanti

    Resources for wheelchair/ chair yoga?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 04:50 AM PDT

I have Cerebral Palsy but yoga is the most encouraging way for me to stretch without being bored to tears. However, I keep doing the same things over and over. And I'm having trouble finding more resources to give me some options. I was hoping someone here might be able to help.
