Yoga for anxiety and feelings of depression. Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:25 PM PDT With lock-down, I find myself doing much more yoga. Sometimes it's a struggle to get myself to the mat even though I might not be "feeling" it, but afterwards I always feel better even if it's just a little bit. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:13 PM PDT Hello yogis Ive been tryna heal this tennis elbow for a few months now and Im having trouble finding videos that are helpful for safely excercising it in yoga, does anyone know ofd any good videos ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 05:22 PM PDT Does anyone know of any good resources for practising restorative yoga regularly at home? Maybe a teacher who's done a series of videos? I'm willing to pay for it if it's on a subscription site. Lots of YouTube yoga teachers seem to have the odd restorative video here and there, but I'm used to a more regular practice and I find the one-off videos a bit repetitive if I use them more than a few times. They also don't always make use of props like bolsters (which I do have). Any help would be really appreciated. :) [link] [comments]

Does anyone have experience with using a grounding mat? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 06:48 PM PDT I was thinking about purchasing one since the covid-19 lockdown is making it less and less accessible to get outside and ground oneself to the earth. Anyone have one that they've bought? What is your experience with them and if you have one you like, what brand would you recommend (I've done some research and the one that keeps coming up with positive reviews is called Earthing)? Also some reviews have shown that they are all a gimmick and don't work, so I'm open to hearing both sides of the coin. Edit: added another question [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 06:23 AM PDT I'm a newbie. I've done one online class and like, 3 Yoga with Adrienne videos. She does the Forward Fold a lot, and as a beginner, I'm wondering whether I should try and touch the floor with my knees bent, or keeping my legs straight and don't touch the floor? The second one strongly resembles the Half Forward Fold because I'm not flexible in this manner yet. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:55 AM PDT And short legs. My proportions are off. It's hard for me to keep my back straight on things like forward fold or downward dog. Anybody else out here with the same problem? I'm working on it but I feel like I'm fighting my body! [link] [comments]

Looking for Yoga apps focused on courses and challenge series Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:52 PM PDT Hello all, I'm currently testing out some yoga apps, especially ones with Apple TV offerings. I like to follow courses focused on goals and daily practices ( i can only do 30 days of yoga with Adrienne so many times). I'm now looking for apps that lots of challenges, I like following a program rather than having to chose from a class everyday because i am looking to build core strength and fire up my metabolism but also because it takes the guesswork out and fits my routine better. I had purchased 90 day yoga intensive on Daily OM but I'm so disappointed with the low tech, bad user experience and the platform is buggy. Contents of the course is not bad and focused a on strong vinyasa which I love but the cons outweigh the pros. Can you recommend apps that have this format? Currently testing: Yogaglo Alo moves Asana rebel Had a quick look at daily yoga too. I'm not sure I like the voice over style of some of these, i like to feel some personality and soul in the teacher. Would love to hear this community's thoughts and suggestion also open to free challenge resource selections 🙂 I just like it when it is easily streamed in the tv. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 05:57 AM PDT I have been blessed this winter with the ability to travel but have cut my trip short and just returned home early because of this damn Covid thing. In the last ten weeks I have spread my new Liforme mat out at more than a dozen different studios in Bali, Thailand and India and several airports in between. A few days ago a lady at my hotel in India got mad at me for laying my mat out in a common space of the hotel saying it was probably infected from the studios and I should burn it (but she hadn't burned her shoes...) Little severe I think but I am looking for disinfecting guidelines. General Corona advise is soap and water kills it. Is this good enough or should I look for a chemical disinfectant? A Liforme mat is rubber and general cleaning guidelines are different than for other mats. General cleaning advice is just soap and water not any oils or other mat cleaners [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:27 PM PDT Sometimes during a practice I'll struggle with a specific pose or during the pose I'll have thoughts like, I really hope I'm doing these right or I'll just wonder if there are some more details I'missing on alignment, breath, drishti, etc. It would be great to have one place I could go to find a detailed breakdown on that specific pose. Does this exist or do I just keep searching the pose in Youtube and trying whatever pops up? [link] [comments]
Manduka mat broke in but now is slippery again Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:37 AM PDT I've been practicing on a Manduka prolite mat almost daily for over a year. I know Manduka mats are notoriously slippery at first, but after a few months it started to break in a get a lot more grippy. However, recently it has become dangerously slippery again and has been hindering my practice. Has this happened to anyone else/does anyone have suggestions to remedy this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:15 AM PDT Hi all I am a 30yo woman with endometriosis, adenomyosis and possible chronic fatigue. That means that I have very little energy and that I have daily pain. "Fast" paced exercise (like pillates) makes me have more pain, and I can barely keep up. I started doing Yin Yoga a month ago and I really liked it because as it was so slow I could keep up and I didnt have a lot of pain while doing it. I took a look in thebeginers section of this sub (is great!) but I didnt see info about my illnesses. I wanted to ask advice about which type of yoga its the best for people with endometriosis /chronic pain/ chronic fatigue. Also which online resources you could recommend me for my situation, as gyms are now closed in my country. Thank you very much! [link] [comments]
| Donations for online yoga classes- how much to give? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 07:02 AM PDT Hi everyone! Almost all of my yoga instructors are offering online/Zoom yoga classes during the COVID-19 shutdowns (located in Philadelphia, PA). I love this idea- I can keep up with my practice, still have a sense of community, and support my local teachers via donation based classes. My question is this- how much is appropriate to donate for each class? I go to some studios that have $5-10 community classes, but I don't typically go to donation only based classes. How much would be appropriate? I was thinking of doing 1-2 classes a week, and I definitely want to pay all instructors the same amount. What do you all think? Thanks in advance for sharing! | How to plan your at home practice? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:24 AM PDT Question for those who practice at home, particularly those who have built up several skills: I'm an Alomoves member and I love it so far. However, there's a million things I want to work on (certain skills such as backbends, arm balances, etc.). How do you go about planning your at home practice? I know that for Alomoves and probably some other yoga apps that things are already planned in a series, but do you just pick one thing to work on at a time? If you're working on a skill do you add it on top of your typical flow? How often do you practice? 1-2x per day? How many hours per day is too much? How often do you work on your flexibility and mobility vs. strengthening and skills? Thanks! Not sure if it is relevant, but I am familiar with yoga and have been regularly practicing for 4 years but always in studio. I've attended a couple of workshops too but never had the free reign of at home practice. There's so much I want to explore! But yes just a note, not a beginner, but not advanced either. | Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:39 PM PDT Ok I have a question, so I do yoga daily and have been told that fire log is more intense than butterfly so I try it and I feel no stretching of any form. I look at tons of angles and tutorials and have found no help even the modified one where you make your knees stacked just squeeze my testicles. Any advice or is this normal? [link] [comments] |
