| Downward Dog feels too 'long' if I push back from plank? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:44 PM PDT I've practiced yoga on and off since college, but I always felt like my downward dog was 'wrong'. If I push straight back from plank, I cannot get a grip with my fingers and I don't feel the stretch at all, it feels too 'long' or 'wide'. But, if I walk my hands back a little, it feels much more solid and I can feel the stretch, but then it makes it an awkward transition flowing back into a plank. I feel like I might just have shorter arms than the average person? Should I be doing something differently? [link] [comments] |

| Everything you need to run your yoga studio remotely Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:59 AM PDT TL;DR: https://jellystone.yoga/ Hey ya'll, My name is Johnny and I'm a software engineer. Like many, I've turned to yoga as an escape during quarantine. But while instructors are rapidly trying to offer a great online experience, the tooling isn't there to help them succeed. Unable to resist an opportunity to help, I gathered tons of feedback from my local yogis and set out to build a better solution. I could not be more excited to share it with you today! Named for a certain Yogi's home, Jellystone is live at https://jellystone.yoga/ Since this product is about you and your community, a lot of intention went into enabling you to run your studio how you see fit. Can yogi's see everyone on the call? or only the instructor? Privacy controls allow you to decide, even during an in-progress call, to toggle your class's visibility to one another. The platform is free to anyone who wants to offer free classes. But since free won't pay the bills when you do this for a living, monetization is built-in. Simply set a price and jellystone will take care of collecting the money from everyone. There's no effort on your part to ensure that participants have paid -- access to your class is managed automatically -- and funds are transferred to your bank account daily. Let's solve the online studio together! [link] [comments] |

| I got yoga and many other things from him. Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:21 PM PDT I broke up with my boyfriend of 9 months just last week and it's been very tough emotionally. With him I discovered yoga, he s been practicing yoga very seriously for years and I would go with him to the studio often. Our lovers come and go to teach us and grow us and love us. I am heartbroken I broke up with him, but it was the right thing to do. I have a daily yoga practice now building my skills slowly and lovingly. I like to think that he gifted me - among many things- the introduction to yoga . Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:53 AM PDT Shoutout to members: u/Caliyogagrl, u/EmsPalala, u/McIgglyTuffMuffin, u/ChloeMarie159, u/claptrapglitter, u/engineer_ellena, u/GarbagePailKid90, u/ShadowSylph for completing 23 days of the challenge, u/electric_real for 22 days u/claptrapglitter 's husband for 17 days u/MsMimosa420 for 14 days u/GraphCat for 13 days! I have noticed a few of you have mentioned trying to find a way to keep to a regular yoga practice after this challenge is over. So, Question for everyone: Is anyone interested in an accountability group? I was thinking a private facebook group (that way we can share more freely), with a similar "free-style" approach where you decide what you would like to do each month (e.g. commit to X amount of practices) and post and share in the accountability group. Comments, suggestions etc are welcome! Let me know your thoughts. Videos and music used by members on Day 23

| Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:58 AM PDT I can step into a high or low lunge with ease. However, when I frame my foot, it's slightly difficult. I can put my fingers, hands down, but my torso feels like it's leaning against my leg no matter how hard I try to lift from the chest and straighten. Also, I'm noticing my hands are all of a sudden slipping in downward dog. Never had this problem before. I'm not putting all my weight in my wrists either. Strictly from the fingertips. Any tips are appreciated. A little frustrated because I hadn't had this problem before. I'm in relatively decent shape. I've only been at yoga for a little over a month now. [link] [comments] |
| Recommendation Request - YouTube videos with no inversions? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:30 AM PDT Good morning! My husband and I have been trying to practice daily since we've been housebound, and it's been great for both of us. We are both beginners, and we've been mostly doing Yoga With Adriene videos. However, he has some issues with getting lightheaded with inversions, and there seem to be a lot of forward folds, down dog, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for beginner videos that aren't so heavy on the inversions? A little is okay, but the fewer the better. Any suggestions would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:26 AM PDT Hi all! I have a question about mastering poses, hope it doesn't sound silly. But when you want to master a pose, for example, crow- is it practicing that particular pose every yoga session that helps you to master it, or is it the general practice of yoga itself everyday, that gets you there? In other words, if I want to master a pose do I need to be practicing it everyday, or do I work on strengthening my muscles and perfecting form through the general practice of yoga and attempt the pose every so often to see how far I've come? | Is yoga before bed not essential? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:09 AM PDT When I first started doing it, I was doing before bed. I loved ending my night with all the stretching and relaxation. But then I started reading more about yoga and I seem to see that everyone says I should not do it before bed.. is there a reason or is this preference? I just noticed a positive impact on my sleep while doing it before bed and when I stopped it kinda went back to not sleeping at all. [link] [comments] |
| Has anyone tried the Decathlon Domyos mat? lululemon dupe? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:26 AM PDT https://www.decathlon.co.uk/yoga-mat-grip-3mm-id_8544666.html Has anyone got any feedback for these mats? The texture looks like a lululemon dupe for around half the price. I'm looking for a really grippy mat as i get very sweaty palms! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
