Ashtanga yoga: Body weight/fat vs. certain poses |
| Body weight/fat vs. certain poses Posted: 09 Sep 2020 12:39 AM PDT I've been wondering about this question for a while: how does body weight and body fat affect us in doing certain poses? For those who were able to do the jump back/through, lolasana, L sit after (years of) practice. Do you feel having lighter body weight (lower body fat) makes the pose easier? Similarly, for any binding poses, esp supta kurmasa, aside from the hip flexibility, does having leaner body (esp limbs) make the the pose easier? I'm asking because I feel I've been hitting the bottle neck for a longggg time. I certainly feel my daily practice has helped me gain quite a lot of strength and flexibility. But at the same time, I'm still struggling. I understand in yoga we should focus on using breath to create space in our body, but I'm also curious what else could affect us doing certain poses. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
