Ashtanga yoga: Looking for a way to begin the practice less intensely |
| Looking for a way to begin the practice less intensely Posted: 22 Sep 2020 09:59 AM PDT Hello everyone, I do yoga in the morning to get my day going. I am usually pretty tired and also generally not in a good shape (bc of allergies) in the mornings. The Sun A and Sun B usually feel like a punch in the face first thing in the morning. I'm not very flexible and they are still challenging for me. They feel less like a warmup and more like the most intense part of the practice. It just isn't something I can look forward to and often they feel like too much right away. When I am more awake/warmed up, I really enjoy them though. I did some random gentle Youtube yoga video the other day that started off really slowly and I felt pretty good about it. But I don't want to abandon the general ashtanga routine/mindset. So my question: What ideas can you come up with to maybe lessen the intensity of the beginning of the practice? F.e. add some poses before sun salutations or modify the first few. Does anyone else here do that? Thank you very much for any insight! [link] [comments] |
| How has the practice changed your relationship with food? Posted: 22 Sep 2020 12:40 PM PDT Edit: for example, did you find yourself eating healthier choices, being more aware of how certain foods make your body feel, or becoming aware of unhealthy food patterns? [link] [comments] |
