Welcome to Form Check Friday! Here is the link to all previous Form Check Fridays

Please post a photo or video of the stretch you'd like to be critiqued. Do include any specific questions you have about your form.

Your video or photo should be:

    • Oriented the correct way, we want to see the lines of your body
    • Be formatted such that there isn't unnecessary video of you preparing for the move (keep it short)
    • Have the important bits of the movement clearly visible (multiple angles is always useful)
    • Include the whole body

    Rules for critiquing form

    • Constructive criticism only
    • Feel free to point others to resources that address their form and/or questions if you aren't "qualified" to give them advice yourself

If your form is awesome, consider posting it in the Show Off Sunday thread!

    can you do this?

At the height of your flexibility (past or present) what was or is your overall stretching routine that gave you the safest and most consistent results?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:35 AM PST

At the height of your flexibility:

How old were you, how often did you stretch, what did you stretch, what disciplines did you use (yoga, dance, contortion, etc.), how did you stretch (dynamic, static, active), what were your favorite stretches, how long did it take for you to see improvement, and advice that you have or anything you would do differently?

I know that's a lot of questions but you can answer any or all of them!

    1. How to stretch my upper back more.
    2. How to make progress (this is my default flexibility, in just starting)
    3. How to get my teardrop.

Here is a picture of my flexibility so far.

    What to do next

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:14 AM PST

After getting some general body flexibility down, is it best to focus on one area such as hamstrings, hips, back until I'm satisfied with flexibility in that area? Or is it best to focus on different poses?

Any one fix their hip hopping?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 05:34 PM PST

Hi! I've been struggling with my hip snapping syndrome and I was wondering how people solved their hip snapping? What were your go to stretches/routine. Mine were doing better when I was consistent with my hip flexor/periformis stretching. I feel out of it for a little over a week and now my hips back to popping a lot.

    pain in hip socket region

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:36 PM PST

Hello, I have been trying to work on progression towards side splits but I feel like I can't really even do the most basic stretches to get there. Even sitting on the floor and spreading my legs to about 90 degrees causes great pain in my hips. It feels more like a jamming then a stretch. The straighter my legs are the more pain in the hip (I can do the butterfly stretch as far is it will go with no pain). I have tried tilting my hips forward more but that barely changes anything. I was pretty flexible as a child and had no issues like this before (I'm 28 now). Has anyone dealt with anything like this? How did you get through it?

    Feeling “high” after training?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:41 PM PST

My flexibility coach speaks Spanish so I asked her but I'm not sure we can communicate so deeply.

It's only my second session and my hips are already moderately open. After a few exercises and stretches we finished, but suddenly my hips felt EXTREMELY open and I almost felt like I had taken LSD or taken a strong cup of coffee.

I know there is definitely something going on with the CNS, but looking for deeper explanation and other common responses/feelings after stretching

    fast paced yoga?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:52 PM PST

does anyone know any youtubers who do fast paced yoga? I dont mean so fast that moving through each pose will inclue risk of hurting something but I find even though I want to do yoga and stretch that way, its hard for me to stay focused when Im in a pose for too long and Im not feeling stretched out or anything. Im also looking for just any youtubers with good stretch routines!!

Not quite flexibility, but my first step into a (hopefully) long journey of stretching + bodyweight learning. Learning to do a headstand with some beginner friendly tips from the beginner. Eventual goal, handstand + front split
