    Question on backbends

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 04:11 AM PDT

What are some "pre requisites" for more advanced backbends (eg chest stands, elbow bridges, etc)? Is there any "if you can do X, then it's safe for you to try Y" kinda rule/s and where do I find them? I've gotten more into stretching again over the quarantine and although I find it quite straight forward when it comes to splits and such, backbending is a little intimidating to me. I can do a basic bridge or straighten my legs in it (from the floor, not dropping back), but idk where to go from here (and not break my spine in the process lol)

    Cardio and flexibility connection

    Posted: 09 Sep 2020 03:11 AM PDT

I wonder if there is a connection between cardiovascular health and flexibility.

Whenever my cardio improves then. My strength follows. And we know that if we get stronger the muscles feel more safe to elongate.

    Any thoughts or experiences? 😊

    Hip flexor stretching questions

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:21 PM PDT

I've noticed in kneeling hip flexor stretches, some people stretch with their knees directly below their hips and posteriorly tilt the pelvis until they feel a stretch (a). Others keep the pelvis more neutral and push the hips in front of the knee (b). Is there a reason to prefer one over the other? Are different muscles stretched?

    Example of a) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evs7hour2qI at 3:00

How often do you workout (strength & fitness) if your main goal is flexibility, and for how long?

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 07:36 AM PDT

As the title says. I'm currently on an intense monthly program for flexibility (don't worry, it's safe!) and there's no strength training or functional training involved. I'm wondering, if your goal is UBER flexibility (over splits, amazing folding, etc) how often do you do functional training and for how long without hindering good progress? I'm thinking I might add in 2-3 sessions a week for 25-30 minutes. My stretching course durations are 40-60+ mins daily.

    Core strength and balance

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 08:54 AM PDT

Hey guys :), I'm pretty flexible but I have really little core strength and balance which I think is preventing me from doing certain things to a standard that I would like (eg, leg holds). Do you guys have any exercises I can do to help increase my core strength and balance?
