| I reached 100 days of meditation :D - things that I learned. Posted: 20 Sep 2020 02:01 PM PDT I finally reached 100 consecutive days of meditation! I know that to a lot of you that may not seem like much, but it feels like my biggest achievement this year :) I'm genuinely so happy. When I first started meditating, I wasn't in a good place, I was anxious more often than not and I felt really fucking lonely. I didn't think those feelings would ever go away but they did. Sitting quietly in solitude has taught me more about myself than most experiences I've been through. Sometimes it's not easy and it feels like I have to keep telling my mind to be quiet and just let me focus, other days it just comes naturally and I'd feel over the moon. I learned that the key to it is consistency, even if it feels a little tricky, you should do it out of love for yourself. Meditate out of love for your body, for your soul, for your mind and for your heart, because it's everyone's birthright to feel comfortable and happy in their own skin. I learned that with enough time and consistency, it's easy to just be in the moment and leave things that belong in the past or future alone. To say that meditation has changed my life in so many aspects is simply an understatement. Nurture your relationship with yourself and learn to appreciate everything around you. I'm so excited to reach bigger and bigger milestones on this journey :) this just felt like a really big achievement to me and I really wanted to share it with someone, so I thought this subreddit would be perfect for that (obviously..) | Anyone else cry during meditation? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:46 AM PDT I feel so at peace and so completely whole when meditating. Sometimes I cry a couple of tears because of how amazing and beautiful the experience is. Anyone else do this? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 20 Sep 2020 11:37 AM PDT Recently I've been trying to keep a daily 10 minute meditation and honestly it's been lovely. All that morning stress gets focused into my meditation session and dampens significantly by the end of it. Usually this is enough to get me through my day but I definitely do more if need be. Hope all is going well with everyone today! [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 21 Sep 2020 01:34 AM PDT In daily life, we usually have been going trough confusing time such as too many distracting thoughts, negative thoughts, negative feelings etc... why we have these kinds of things in our mind? That's because we are living inside our own mind world which consist of our memories and thoughts which are mostly negative and skeptical. besides, these thoughts and desires are never gonna be satisfied. so we need to let go of it. We need to do meditation for living truly happily. Jason- Meditação Lisboa [link] [comments] |
| What is the difference between suppressing thoughts vs letting them come & go? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 11:39 PM PDT I feel like I know the answer, but if anyone could better define this for me it would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
| Does lower back pain decrease as we continue meditating? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:36 PM PDT Hi all, I'm fairly new to meditation. I started last year, but would typically meditate while laying flat on my back. Lately I have been doing the more traditional lotus position, and, one big distraction for me is lower back aches. Do these go away as our muscles adjust, or is this something I'll deal with for a while? [link] [comments] |
| Post-Meditation Help! I'm unable to focus after meditating? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 10:37 PM PDT This is the first time I've ever gotten this feeling. I just got out of a deep meditation and I'm unable to focus/concentrate? I'm not sure what to call it but even when I turn my head it feels like it's too fast and I'm still not back to normal. Maybe it's hyperfocused even? I don't know this is new to me. If anybody has any knowledge on this or tips I'd highly appreciate it. I don't know if it matters but I've been meditating a lot recently also on and off for about a year. Edit: I just googled stuff to try find answers and it sounds like I didn't ground myself properly when I finished meditating. I can see that being it because just my past few sessions I was in so deep my pineal gland was pulsing but it felt pleasurable. If this is what it is does anybody know any grounding techniques? Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
| A little something I wrote the first time I meditated one year ago. Posted: 20 Sep 2020 06:12 PM PDT "I sat down in my dark room and turned my favorite candle on. I closed my eyes. I remembered Lori, my Buddhism professor, warning my class that the first couple times of meditating some beginners tend to fall asleep. I thought this would happen yet didn't experience this. I felt so connected with my breathing, my worries and troubles washed away from my body. Before I sat down, I thought I would get bored or impatient during meditation, but this didn't occur either, for the first time in the semester I felt at peace. I started thinking about how my whole life for the past 19 years I've praying. I've prayed the rosary alone in my room or with thousands of people at holy events, and not even in prayer have I ever felt this calm or this amount of love radiating inside of me. I thought, maybe I shouldn't just be praying to something on the outside, maybe I should be searching for meaning on the inside. And i remembered that is exactly what Buddhism is, know thou self. Buddihsim holds the very belief that in order to know and understand things around you first you have to know yourself. In this meditation, I just felt so connected with that inner light the Buddha describes. I felt tears in my eyes, I just felt like for the first time in years, I found something...someone... that had been waiting inside of me for a long time." [link] [comments] |
| It's hard to keep meditating when things aren't going bad Posted: 20 Sep 2020 02:59 AM PDT I have ADHD, and since March I had codependency with a friend, so I had a lot of obsessive thoughts all day on my mind causing me suffer. I could not get that thoughts out of my mind and I started meditation and also The Power of now helped me a bit. But, now I'm recovering myself from my codependency, and I'm starting to think about other stuff like some sport, a videogame, a film... And stopped thinking obsessive about my friend and my 'why I'm so alone'. That new thoughts don't make me suffer so I'ts Ok (for me, ADHD makes me overthink). So I stopped meditating because I'm not motivated doing it and also stopped re-reading The power of now. Has it happened to you? [link] [comments] |
| Eyes darting around even while closed Posted: 21 Sep 2020 01:24 AM PDT Sometimes when I meditate my eyes move around a lot and I mean a lot. This makes it impossible to keep them closed and is really distracting. I try to focus on a point but that doesn't really work. Do you have any tips on how to stop this ? I've read about similar experiences but nothing really worked so far. [link] [comments] |
| Meditation? Does it actually work? Posted: 21 Sep 2020 12:27 AM PDT I'm new to the concept of meditation. I've been try to meditate. But when I sit there. I have more thoughts coming into mind than usual. It makes think "what am I doing, just sitting here doing nothing". I can't focus at all. Because all our lives we have been asked not to be idle. Get creative, get smarter, get moving. Now I've gotten good at the get my brain to move part. Now I dono how to stop. Its been interfering with my sleep. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:42 PM PDT I purposefully went for a long time without masturbation a few years ago and also extended that to as little physical contact as possible with other people, especially with men. I noticed I was calmer, more confident within myself, way more productive. Meditation was easier. I've not found much reading on this practice for women (admittedly I've not looked that hard!) But have found some practices that seem to suggest that for women the more orgasms the better - and even further that for a man it is good to make the woman orgasm as he then can absorb her energy and as she has the ability to orgasm a lot more than a man she has limitless energy etc. Much of the literature I've come across is still so male dominated. My experience has been that men Ive got close have seemed to just suck up my energy and leave me empty - and seem to get addicted in some fashion to it. That's not to say I think all men would and will do that but it's been a very interesting exercise in witnessing my energy and how it ebbs and flows. There always seems to be so much written and spoken about in this area aimed at men, id really like to know more about this practice for women. In case it's not abundantly clear, I am a woman. | Sensations of things happening around you while meditating - is this common? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:40 PM PDT Hello medditors, I'm relatively new to mediation and have started to do it about 10-20 minutes every day just before bed. The past few times, I've had very strong sensations about things happening around me, probably nerves, like a person looking at me or something like that. The other day I had a feeling that I was sitting in front of something like a fire, but it was incredibly fleeting. Today however I was in the moment and all of the sudden I had this peaceful sensation my wife was sitting next to me. She had been asleep for awhile in the other room, so I thought maybe she'd woken up and come sat with me, but opening my eyes I found no one was there. Is this/ sensations of things "occurring" during meditation a common thing? Or am I just getting too wrapped up in the moment ? [link] [comments] |

| Could someone suggest a Meditation app for android? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:46 PM PDT Hi everyone, as stated, I'm looking for an app on android for meditation. It can be paid or free. Ideally, an app that has videos/recordings of someone giving directions. (For example an instructor saying to picture a cloud) Thank you. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:39 PM PDT I've been mediating for about a month and it's resounding with me. Everyday I feel like a new, healthier person. I feel more patient and understanding with others and myself. I just had a few drinks with my brother and I felt like everything he said was getting on my nerves. It's like everything I've been learning went out the window and I returned to defensive and abrasive patterns almost immediately. Is this normal, am I meditating wrong or just lying to myself it's working? [link] [comments] |

| (Question) Searching for what cannot be described. Posted: 20 Sep 2020 04:54 PM PDT I have been meditating on the breath, bodily sensations and (mostly) on thoughts for 2 years (although I haven't been doing it the whole time consistently). At the beginning I used to meditate only for 20 minutes and I had the most intense meditative experiences (which made me fall in love with meditation). In this experiences I felt as if I had taken a psychodelic drug, for I felt everything very intensely and different, in a way that I am not able to describe. But I have been gradually loosing the ability to reach those states. I do reach states of inner peace, equanimity and inner awareness, but I find very difficult to reach these 'ecstatic' or 'psychodelic' states that I used to achieve so easily, although I now meditate for one to one and a half hour. I know that from the Buddhist perspective I should not be looking for these states, and that this search can be counterproductive because it may hinder my ability to reach equanimity (which I do reach). But it would be very nice to be able to achieve these states from time to time. I thought that meditating for longer periods of time could help, and I think that it has been partially so, but after 40 minutes my legs and back begin to sore (although I have a safu and I maintain a good posture), so I wanted to ask if someone could give me any tips for meditating for long periods of time and for reaching these intense states. | Guided meditation to start the school day? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 09:54 PM PDT I'm super new to meditation and in the process of learning more, but I've learned enough to think that it would be super helpful to my kids if we started school days with some meditation time. But because I'm still learning I don't feel qualified to teach them how and what to do. I searched YouTube for guided videos but there's so many completely different ones it's hard to know what to pick. Does anyone have any favorites they'd recommend? [link] [comments] |
