    Online 200 Hr Course?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:39 PM PDT

Hey guys, after 6 years of in-depth yoga studying, I've finally decided to take the next step and get my 200 hour yoga teacher training. I'm moving to a big city and for extra income + keeping myself in good shape, I thought it would be a great idea to get certified so I can teach.

Because of health issues, I'm in quarantine until the end of the year and thought this would be the perfect opportunity instead of wasting time. I know that Yoga Alliance has extended online training through December, but there's SO many different possible programs and I'm not sure which is the best one and which ones would be considered spam.

Thank you lovelies for any and all advice you can give me! :) PS. Flexible programs would be awesome! I'm technically babysitting my niece from 9am-2pm everyday, so something flexible would be amazing.

Does anyone else have tight hamstrings even after doing yoga for a year or so?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 03:29 PM PDT

I'm not sure how long I've been doing it. I used to work out at the gym but then couldn't deal with all the germs during covid. Now I'm regularly doing yoga and I'm baffled how people can do some leg stretches. Also I stand at my job in a kitchen. So I have strong legs actually. Any input would be great.

How often should you change up yoga routines?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 03:07 PM PDT

Hi all, I am a week into doing yoga for the first time ever and have been doing beginning videos on Adrienne's channel. The 20 minute beginner video fits into my free time and ability really well. Is there a maximum amount of days or weeks I should stick with a yoga video before changing it up to maintain improvement? The small differences I've noticed are frankly astounding over just one week and I want to do my best to keep up that momentum. Also do I need rest days like weightlifting? Do you ever have days where you need to do a lighter yoga routine because you are sore from the previous days? Thank you!

Seems like Manduka recently added some official caveats on the lifetime guarantee. For example, you would have you purchase the mat through the manduka website or Amazon.com. There are also picture examples of what is covered under lifetime guarantee.

    Rotation of thighs and legs

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 05:44 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I have flat feet and anterior pelvic tilt and so I've been trying to focus more on alignment and correction of the ways that I rotate my legs and thighs and feet in certain poses. I often have trouble remembering when im in down dog, cobra, up dog, and mountain pose which ways to rotate the thighs and legs? Please share what are the cues for this and also if you have any resources for instructors who have good cue-ing for postures. Also how do you know which ways to rotate your legs in certain postures? I have been doing yoga consistently for a bout a year but this part still hasn't clicked for me yet.

    namaste!

    YTT Question

I live in Canada, if I attend an online YTT that is hosted in the USA, will the certificate still be valid in Canada or other countries if I decide to take my yoga teaching on the road? Thanks, namaste 💚🙏

    Straighten legs in sirsasana

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:44 AM PDT

I have been practicing my headstand for a few months now, I can get into a tucked one and raise my knees half way, I can get into it with a wide legged pike half way and also half pike but only half way. For some reason, when I try to straighten out my legs I feel super wobbly and I always end up with my legs falling back down (in front of me). So I never experience the full straight pose!

I've filmed myself to see my alignment but it seems almost flawless... untill I try to straighten my legs I guess, I haven't seen that. Do you think it could just be my fear to be fully upside down? Fear to fall over?

Edit: I always practice in front of a wall but make sure I don't touch it.

Joints Aching Days After Yin Practice?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 09:29 AM PDT

Hi, all. Hope everyone reading this is safe and well.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced joint pain the days following a deep yin practice? I'm having joint pain in my shoulders, lower back, elbows, hips, knees and ankles which started Tuesday afternoon after a Yin practice Monday evening. All of those spots were worked very thoroughly, but I don't recall feeling quite this achey after any other Yin practice (I don't do Yin that often, maybe 2x month at most).

Im 18 and have always had bad posture but recently in bed I did this weird stretch and one of my shoulders physically went inside and now my posture on that side looks normal. Only thing is I forgot the stretch i did, anyone know one that might help get the other one in?

    Downward facing dog beginner

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 10:44 AM PDT

Hi friendly people, I'm horrendously inflexible but starting to try and do some downward dog (the yoga kind, not the fun kind), but I'm finding the mat I'm using is stretching, i.e. there's so much pressure from my hands and feet pushing away from each other that the mat actually stretches out. Is this a mat problem or a me problem? If the pose is done correctly, is there significant pressure pushing the hands and feet apart?

True Kundalini Yoga: I Feel That I Must Pursue It

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 10:39 AM PDT

    Hello all,

This is my first post and I'd just like to introduce myself. I want to truly and wholeheartedly pursue kundalini yoga but every time I do research it just leaves me feeling confused and nervous.

You see, I've come to know that Kundalini practices multiple forms of yoga but there doesn't seem to be a legit way to properly follow the Kundalini form. It seems that it is so old/ancient that any body teaching it today is doing some made up version and not the ACTUAL Kundalini yoga written about throughout history.

This just leaves me completely nervous and afraid to move forward due to me feeling like learning current Kundalini from any modern person may be a scam. Do any of you have any idea on where one could learn the true version of this yoga? I eagerly await any and all help, thank you all.

Where can I buy Alo Yoga Mat in Europe?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 08:42 AM PDT

I'm interested in buying Alo Yoga Air Mat, and it in their website it costs $80, however, when I try to ship it to Europe, it adds nearly $40 additionally for tax and duties, which is just ridiculous. Is there any place in Europe where I can get Alo Yoga mats?

When having yoga as a routine when is the best time to do it or it doesn't matter?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:56 AM PDT

I want to start putting yoga into a routine yet I'm not sure if I should do it when I wake up and before I exercise, do it after I exercise, or before I go to bed?

Otherwise it doesn't really matter and is a personal preference?
