| I had an amazing meditation today Posted: 22 Sep 2020 09:30 AM PDT While I was 20 minutes late for work, straddling my bike, stuck for quite a long time at a train crossing with the train moving at a snail's pace, with train horn and train crossing bells blaring, with my fingers in my ears to preserve my hearing. It was a fantastic reminder of the futility of stressing over the little things. A reminder to laugh at myself, and about the order that I sometimes insist upon my life. It gave me some spare moments to breathe. It was a reminder to cherish the small things, look for the beauty in the mundane. And to never forget my breath. [link] [comments] |
| Beginner to yoga, struggling to know what to follow Posted: 22 Sep 2020 04:30 PM PDT Hello yoga humans, So I have been following some yoga with Adrienne things on youtube, but would really like something more regimented. When I studied Aikido, we had a Kata which we learned, it covered all of the body movements used in Aikido of our level. I'm wondering if there is any pictorial rather than video resource for a set of yoga movements that I can memorize, rather than listening to a youtuber say all sorts of odd things at me, just so it can be simply me and my brain there and little else. Picture references would be amazing, like a little diagram for each move listed in order, But really anything that definitely hits the majority of body activation I should hit as a beginner that I can put to memory and run through. Maybe outside of the reconstituted and reconstituted yoga? We are all on a local lockdown in my area, so am restricted to being at home to keep everyone safe! Does this kind of yoga resource exist? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

| Flexi hips and pain after practice Posted: 22 Sep 2020 05:08 PM PDT Hi all, I wondered if anyone has this issue and may have some insight. I thoroughly enjoy my yoga practice but have found that it may be causing me some hip pain. I have always had very flexible hips so I worry my issue may lie in the need for more work on stability and strength for my flexi hips. I also deal with sciatic pain and general lower back pain and have really tight hamstrings, so its all just a mess.. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Thank you!! [link] [comments] |
| Ankle pain in lotus variations Posted: 22 Sep 2020 04:44 PM PDT Does anyone else experience this, particularly in variations that are one-legged with a forward fold? I have super bendy ankles that are prone to overextension which is mainly why I think I'm struggling with this. I've tried pressing my big toe into my leg but it doesn't seem to help much. | what mental cues do you follow as you press into headstand and other inversions? Posted: 22 Sep 2020 03:57 PM PDT Hi yogi friends :) I am working on my inversions, currently headstand. I can get into the post and stay there for the most part with a couple of tumbles here and there, but I would like to know how to pike press up into the pose by lifting both legs instead of one at a time. Is there any specific mental cue folks are following when they do this or a specific feeling in your body you look to trigger? I feel like my mind body connection with my lower abs is nonexistent 😣 [link] [comments] |
| Is hot/bikram yoga on tuesday, wednesday and sunday enough? Posted: 22 Sep 2020 01:39 PM PDT Its the only classes that fit with my work schedule. Is it enough to see results (in flexibility, mental health and overal fitness)? [link] [comments] |
| Yoga has been helping me with my videogames addiction Posted: 22 Sep 2020 05:09 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've a member of this community a few months now, and I love to read stories about progressions and life changing experience, so am I. So here it is: I have been a videogame addict since I was 13 (Im 26 now) and I had a lot of problems because of that, rough times in highschool and even harder at collage when I had to drop out because I wasn't too serious about it and spend all my time playing. Anyhow, I started working and things changed. I do spend all my free time playing (about 4 hours or so, and more if i can, even when i can't). That lead me to not have any other serious hobby. Luckily, I love doing sport, and I've training calisthenics a while now. Because of injuries i started with Yoga, and man... i know it sounds really cliché, but its amazing! My mind isnt itching for games anymore, and I can go through the day without having that sensation of rushing home and play. Dont get me wrong, I still struggle, and i still play games, but not as the same intensity or desire. I just wanted to share, and tell everyone: Give yoga a chance, its really worth it. Thanks for reading, namaste. [link] [comments] |
| Doing asanas for one body part daily. Posted: 22 Sep 2020 10:38 AM PDT I'm new to yoga. When I'm doing a little research about yoga I found out there are some good asanas for specific body parts. Such as heart, legs etc. If I want to do a such asana, do I need to do some pre workout or I can directly do that asana. Or should I start with a beginner tutorial before doing these kind of asanas? | Posted: 21 Sep 2020 10:41 PM PDT Hello my friends! I have a very basic question- How do you plan and manage your practice? For me, there are lot of things that I want to learn and practice is the only key, but every day everything is very very difficult. So, do you choose 1 thing at a time? And learn it completely (though there are always variations and more to what you achieve) or you practice every day everything that you want to improve on? How do you guys plan it? | Posted: 22 Sep 2020 08:21 AM PDT Hi! Im writing a little notebook on a few Asanas for my students. Instructions and so, and a bit of benefit info. Where Can I find some "authentic" or authoritary info on the benefits of each asana, preferably with info about chakras as Well. Im Very hesitant to rely on Google since posts vary a lot in What they Say about poses. Thanks in advance, have a Nice Day! [link] [comments] |
| Are yoga wheels dangerous for your lower back? Posted: 22 Sep 2020 03:09 AM PDT I've come across countless warning against using my foam roller on my lower back unless laying on my side. The chirp yoga wheels have grooves in the middle, which I can imagine avoids the issue by not putting pressure on the spine. However, I see hundreds of yoga wheels including even smaller sizes than my foam roller for sale online with no grooves at all. While it's easy to find hundreds of warning against foam rolling the lumbar spine, I can find zero such warnings about yoga wheels. What gives? Why the discrepancy? Why is it okay to forcefully extend and put pressure directly on the lumbar spine with yoga wheels but not with foam rollers? Again, I understand how the Chirp brand ones with a groove for the spin might be safe. It's the grooveless ones I'm suspicious of. Thanks [link] [comments] |

| Yoga class in a closed room without a mask Posted: 22 Sep 2020 08:29 AM PDT Hello everyone, Juste to confirm, do we have anything in the scientific literature that says that an intense (vinyasa) yoga practice in a closed room with other people and without a mask, even if everyone only breathe through the nose, would not be quite risky in terms of contamination? I really would like to come back to my class but they only ask the mask when you enter the room... Thanks folks [link] [comments] |
