Have a "stupid" question and are afraid to ask it? (Or don't want to make a whole thread for it?) Well, feel free to ask away in this thread! There's no such thing as a stupid question. This is also a great opportunity for the rest of the community to help each other out.

    Guidelines:

    • As always, read the FAQ to make sure your question isn't answered already.
    • If you're looking for the Motivational Month threads from the past, they are all here in our Wiki.
    • You can also use the search bar to see if an answer to your question exists already.
    • We are not medical professionals. If something hurts and it doesn't go away within a week's rest, see one!

    Enjoy!

My Splits progress. Now I can lift my hands from the ground

Day one .. never into the flexibility area but something to start with ... I need this

Straddle handstand and active split in the end

Is running bad for the splits?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 12:51 PM PDT

So I've been on my journey to do the front splits (and overall flexibility) for 6 months now, recently I've added running back into my fitness routine and have hit a hard plateau in my flexibility. I've been feeling much tighter than usual, and went from being able to just Barry touch my butt down to the ground in front splits to now being about an inch off the ground and really struggling since I started running again.

Is running the enemy?? Do I just need to stretch more if I decide to run, or maybe only run 2 or three days of the week (vs 5/6 now). I love to run, so it would be a shame to not be able to do so, but I'm also very determined to get my splits and don't want to be working against myself.

Any advice on other forms of cardio that aid in flexibility / do not tighten the quads/hamstrings so much?

    Thanks

PLEASE HELP AN ABSOLUTE BEGINNER (splits)

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:05 AM PDT

So I really wanna learn how to do the splits (middle) I want to know the basics and where to start and what all should I be doing. I looked up quite a few places but I end up procrastinating till I get the right exercises and I still don't know what to o.I know that it requires consistency but WHAT do I get consistent WITH IS THERE A BRIEF METHOD that is highly effective I am also a begginer so I have no idea but I'm generally flexible I wanna be able to do it in a month or so And also since I have no idea how things work I don't wanna damage a muscle or anything of that sort. Plis halp.

Basically trying to get rid of pain in hips/adductors I watched a bunch of videos on youtube and picked out some stretches and then created a routine out of the stretches.

What do you think of this routine?
