- This complex is designed to improve the mobility of different joints and flexibility of various muscle groups. At the end of this session we practice our front and middle splits.

Even then when lay on ground on my right side and try to get up, I feel stiffness and pain on lower left back. What can be done to improve that particular side's flexibility? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:04 PM PDT I'm trying to increase my lower body flexibility by stretching my calves, quads, glutes, hamstrings and "side thigh muscles" by doing 2 sets per side of 30s static stretching for those muscles. It's not a whole lot, but is it enough? I'm trying to Pareto optimize my flexibility training; doing relatively little work but reaping most of the benefits, but maybe flexibility progress is more linear than that? [link] [comments] | ||

I was just wondering if you should do a light warm up before your stretching routine? Is it okay to stretch on cold muscles? | Posted: 17 Oct 2020 11:35 AM PDT I've never been the most flexible person besides a couple of things I can do naturally (like reach past my toes without bending my knees or bending down and placing my palms flat on the ground also without bending my knees), but long, long ago, I could do bridges. I could never do them while standing (at least not with the assistance of a wall), so I always did them from the laying down position. I was also never able to walk when I was in the bridge position. Now it's been 4-ish years since I've last done one and I can't seem to get my head off the ground. I'm a pretty weak person, I know this. I've never had the strongest muscles, but I'm wondering if it may be time to strengthen my back or arm muscles. I don't know where to start (or which muscles are responsible for my inability to do bridges), but any help/advice would be very helpful. Note: I am (not so frequently) prone to lower back muscle stiffness if I do some types of strenuous activities or move my back in a way I'm not supposed to, which I'm guessing is because I have weak back muscles (not a genetic or medical problem, I just don't exercise very often and have bad-ish posture).
