Yoga and the spiritual journey: Where to begin/any tips?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Initially, I started Yoga completely for the physical benefits. I was striving towards that Instagram version of Yoga - yes, I coveted the sacred Yogi butt. And the physical benefits were lovely. It was fantastic being so flexible, and being able to stand on one foot for an eternity. I did 60+ minute sessions of Vinyasa every day under Yoga With Tim, and the practices left me feeling FANTASTIC. Sadly, I started uni that year (mid-20's student) and I completely abandoned practicing it. So essentially, I'm back to square one!

With this new start, I'd like to focus way more on the spirituality side of Yoga. I want to get in touch and develop my authentic self; I'd like to 'flesh out' myself as a character. I feel so shallow, dull, uncreative, uninspired. I don't know why I feel like embracing the Yoga lifestyle is the way to go, but I do.

My first goal is to start with maybe a 10-15 minute session of Yoga in the morning. I won't lie, I'd love the physical benefits of Yoga again, but ultimately I'd like to ignore this superficial focus and embrace the poses for what they actually are (if I'm correct)... And that's preparation for meditation and delving into spirituality.

I'd like to engage in more mindfulness, and embrace the 'virtues' of Yoga which I don't actually know the name of. Things like judging others as we'd like to be judged, being present, I clearly need to regoogle this part of things LOL.

I feel like I have no real idea beyond these few sentiments of what I'm doing or where to begin. I also apologize if this has been asked countless times before, but I did check the FAQ for resources haha!

Does anyone do yoga just specifically for chakras? And which one is your favorite to connect with, and why?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 08:47 AM PDT

I just completed day 11 of yoga camps - I release. The 44 minutes went by quickly. I can feel myself growing stronger and I definitely needed to release my anxiety and tension in my body.

cubital tunnel syndrome :( has anyone dealt with this? what did you do?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 12:06 PM PDT

Hi guys. I currently suffer from this condition in my right elbow. it requires maintaining the elbow as straight as possible. the less bending the better.

What should I avoid during my yoga practices? what would you recommend? regarding arm-balance i'm at crow-pose level and also a good full Chaturanga.

    Thank you <3

300h YTT after a 200h YTT that's not YA certified?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:21 PM PDT

I have the opportunity to take a YTT soon and I feel like the experience will be very fulfilling; however, it is not associated with YA.

So my question is: If I want to further my practice with a more advanced TT later on, say in India, will I be able to find a good program (like a 300h) that takes my training into account? I do not mind that the 300h one won't be YA certified either.

I'm a bit lost in what really matters here, particularly bc YA Is a western entity trying to dictate how to teach yoga. I imagine a lot of schools don't pay much attention to it but I'm not sure.

    Thank you in advance.

    Cork mat disintegrating

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 06:31 AM PDT

I bought a Cork yoga mat off amazon for about 50€ and after just two sessions stretching and strength parts of the Cork mat started breaking down and falling off. Did anyone have a similar experience?

    Benefits-of-kapalbhati-pranayamAnd how-to-do-types

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 02:28 AM PDT

T hree types of Kapalabhati Pranayama.

    1. Vatakram Kapalbhati – In this, a person sitting in a meditative position, draws a breath from the other nasal hole by closing one nasal cavity with his finger and right away exhales by closing the nasal cavity on the further side.

    2. Inverse Kapalbhati – In this yoga, a person draws lukewarm water from the nose and removes it from the mouth.

    3. Cold work Kapalbhati – This is the reverse of inverse Kapalbhati. In this, water is taken away from the nose by taking it in the mouth.
