| Posted: 30 Jan 2021 01:21 AM PST Found this sub from an image google search of someone with palms flat on the floor knees straight. Anyways, I'm reading through the faq and resources, what a great collection of helpful links and posts! I know the rules say no medical/rehabilitation posts/advice, but it's only part of my backstory and I'm trying to understand how I went from habitually very tight hamstrings and not being able to get even close to touching my toes with both hands to being able to put both my palms flat on the floor just from a few sessions of physiotherapy exercises. Any information about what exactly is creating this massive change would be very helpful for me to pursue and try to maintain this level of flexibility. Short story is I sustained a minor injury to my knee snowboarding and waited several weeks before going in to see a physiotherapist who said it was a meniscus tear. The exercises he assigned have been centered around strengthening muscles around the knee with a focus on the glutes and I've focused a lot on those exercises targeting the glutes (table squats, glute bridges, clamshells, squats, etc) and quads. I've realized that I've probably been squatting incorrectly and using my knees, so it feels wonderful to be fully engaging my glutes, but I don't understand how this translates to a sudden increase in flexibility. I've noticed that before my exercises I'm not that flexible, but right after I can do some very deep stretches and this last time I was able to put my palms flat on the floor and was amazed at how easy it was, no usual stretching of the hamstring. I've noticed that even before my exercises I seem to be retaining some of that flexibility, so I'm hoping to continue and figure out exactly what's helping me. I'm inclined to say it's the strengthening of the glutes, but maybe it's also something about overstretching my hamstrings trying to get to my toes? any advice/research on what to pursue to continue this progress would be very helpful, thanks! | Seriously need some help with scapula mobility Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:07 PM PST So I have been struggling for a few weeks to figure out why my bench press is looking like this. Right after unracking, it shifts towards my right side and stays in that plane, putting more stress on my shoulder and pec minor. I've been doing a lot of soft tissue work/stretching/drills primarily on the right side of my body. I have tried a lot of other stuff (perfectly centering on the bench, matching foot positioning). I took a video from behind of me retracting as I would for bench press. Looks like my right side won't depress as much. Any advice on how I can fix this? I'm starting to lose hope [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 29 Jan 2021 02:30 PM PST I'm going to order my first foam roller online and I don't know which ones the best. Do I go for the more expensive variety? I'm looking for roller that will last long, I don't mind if its expensive. Right now I'm thinking about getting the TriggerPoint GRIDxFoam Roller (extra firm) for 50$ [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:46 AM PST I'm starting to stretch my body after years of a sedentary lifestyle and one area that hurts me the most is when I try to do the butterfly pose as I feel a lot of pain in my groin area as I try to push down my knees to the floor. I feel a lot of pain and also when I do this similar movement (not sure what it's called) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DXa27Urcoy4 (at 1:20) I feel my hip bone like crunching a couple of times on the way down. I'm wondering what could be causing this as I'm having trouble finding anything on this issue I'm having. I think it's because of how tight the areas around my leg and upper back are but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated [link] [comments] |
