Don’t laugh- week one back bend (I don’t have a good place for full body pics)

Do you want to improve the strenght and flexibility of your shoulders, back and legs? Or do you want to take one step further of your puppy pose? Try to come into that pose and each time push your butt even higher, squeeze your legs and hold still. Almost a full body activation and my fav pose!

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 02:12 PM PST

Hi everyone, my name is Katie and I am currently in my final year of high school. For my subject society and culture I am conducting a research project on 'How COVID-19 has reinforced stereotypes of dance artists and how this risks an artist fuelled future'. I have two questionnaires one is for professional dancers and the other one is for anyone else who would like to help. Thank you for your time I really appreciate your help.

Back bent main issue: shoulders/chest opening angle

Back bent main issue: shoulders/chest opening angle

    Hi everyone,

So I have been doing some back exercices for some months now, however my form isn't the greatest.

The cringest thing being my shoulders alignement 😭

I still manage to do stuff like standing to back drop, bridge to stand position etc... but it looks like sh*t 😅

As on this pic, my arms/shoulders should be way more in (red line):

From what I gathered, back flexibility is the hardest, cause well your spineprotects very important stuff !

However I feel like I did progress a little but I am stuck now 😕

My routine so far: Puppy poses, back drop, bridges, "attempting needle" (with a strap obviously lmao), bow pose, back bending using blocks (same thing you'd do with a yoga wheel), opening shoulders with blocks etc...

I haven't really found PNF workout for back (if that even exists 🤨)

Any idea on what I should do ? Keep doing the same and just accept it will take more months/years to achieve it ? or change the whole thing ?

What are your top 5 go to flexibility poses/moves?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:40 AM PST

What are your top moves/poses/stretch whatever you want to call it, that for you the end goal is improved flexibility? You may do these when crunched for time or maybe it is your wake up routine or bed time routine. Which ones do you swear by?
