    Torn hamstring

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 02:29 PM PST

I was stretching my right front split a couple of days ago. Everything felt normal until I heard a loud cracking sound and felt the pain in the very back of my hamstring (the part where the hamstring meets the glute muscles). The injured area feels very uncomfortable and I have trouble walking and straightening my leg pain free.

So: I suppose I'm not the only person who has torn their hamstring on a journey to achieve the splits. How do I know when to start stretching again and are there any good strenghtening excercises I could do with the injured leg? Any help is greatly appreciated since I feel extremely frustrated by this setback.

Should I stretch 7days a week or take rest days? Does having rest days help with flexibility?

    Ehlers-Danlos and Flexibility

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 12:55 PM PST

Anyone else on here have mild Ehlers-Danlos and is super flexible, even when not stretching for months? I.e. I have gone almost a year without exercise in the past, and even after that, I can still touch my toes, (almost) do the splits, and do a full back bend (yoga wheel)? Just curious! I meet so few others in my daily life, with most people instead getting freaked out by my flexibility.

I've been stuck here for weeks now- how can I get any further on my splits?

I don't understand this ridiculously popular stretching routine?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 11:52 AM PST

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qZTGgEWPbLk

It had around 16 million views. From what I've learnt, it seems she's doing stretching wrong? Like, she's holding the stretches for like 10 seconds? I thought stretches should be held for around 30 seconds?

Obviously she can do the splits, so I'd assume she's not talking nonsense?

    Can someone explain?

    Thanks!

Intense splits training in the early morning or late at night?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 10:54 AM PST

Until March, I'll be busy from 9 am to 7 pm. And I need to keep up with my fitness as well which is 5 days a week. So for splits I only have time around 8 am and 11 pm. Which would be a better option?

Lazy stretching, 5 minutes enough for splits?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 10:38 AM PST

So, I realised that stretching for 1 hour a day every other day was just far too boring. But if I were to work on my front and middle splits for 30 seconds and a few sets 3x a week. Would that be alright? Or am I just wasting my time?

    Thanks.

    Question regarding tight muscle progression

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 10:37 AM PST

So let's say a person has tight legs. (All muscles in the legs). His ROM was good. He just has a sensation of tightness that does go away regardless of myofascial release, stretching and strengthening etc.

If he consistently stretched his middle and front splits, would he ever get results? Or is he just wasting his time?

    Thanks.
