Hot yoga room needed, Will pay, Will travel

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 03:20 PM PST

I have scoliosis and discovered hot yoga right before the pandemic began. I've tried to recreate the 105/40 environment in my studio apt but I can't quite get the temps up there. I keep hurting my back doing the postures in lesser heat. A lot of pain has re-emerged and I'm on the very cusp of quitting my job over it. I'm getting desperate. Until I can buy a house and build my own hotbox (working on it), I gotta ask:

Does anyone within 6 hours of San Jose have access to a legit hot room they could lease to me for use? I will be respectful and clean with your property. Money is not the issue. Pain is. And heat is.

Thank you all for your time. I hope I don't sound too panicked. Bless you all, I hope you all find the health solution in hot yoga that I found. I hope we all can get back to it soon. Be well.

Is Yoga really suitable for fat people?(Honestly)

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:44 AM PST

I'm on the chunkier side of life. I'm 32 years old with high blood pressure and PCOS. My knees are starting to hurt, and I'm looking for something to make my muscles feel stronger and less painful.

My husband and I also want a baby.

I'm currently working on the nutrition part, but looking to add some physical stuff.

I was recommended yoga by a Cox worker. After doing some research, I really like the benefits of yoga and it looks like it could help with muscle strength and flexible. It would also give me something as a hobby.

However I'm skeptical about Yoga being suitable for overweight/obese individuals.

It involves a lot of poses and position that makes my body just just looking at them.

So I want the honest truth. should I wait until I've lost weight to start yoga, or could I start now?

Will crow pose eventually stop hurting?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 12:56 PM PST

I've been trying to improve my crow pose for a while now, but am getting frustrated with how much it hurts pushing my knees into my arms... Will my triceps eventually get used to it, or is crow pose just not for everybody? It's not a balance issue for me, as I can hold the position just fine with my shins on my arms instead of knees. Maybe I just have bony knees, idk😅 Has anybody successfully trained until the pain subsided? Any tips appreciated!

    Best news in weeks

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:43 AM PST

I'm new to reddit and new to yoga and flexibility. My physical therapist said yesterday that my hip flexibility improved massive and how proud he is. I have a hip condition and train with him for about half a year now (after the lädt Operation in Summer it was a tough road). Since a few weeks I do yoga regularly and my life improved but I never really noticed how flexible I have become. So I just wanna say you all got this and I hope you have a wonderful time ❤️❤️

My birth control implant makes it hard to do a crow pose :(

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 01:07 PM PST

My Nexplanon implant is on the back of my arm right where my knees would go, and I'm too worried of messing with it to do a crow pose LOL. Just kind of a mini-rant but also wondering if anyone else has this problem.

    Stiff neck?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 04:02 PM PST

The back of my neck has been stiff for a few days, coinciding with the beginning of my morning yoga practice.

I'm...pretty weak. Could it just be that I'm sore from trying to keep my neck straight in the correct posture or am I maybe doing something wrong?

Where can I find yoga instructors to lead an online session as part of a work wellness activity?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 03:17 PM PST

Hi everyone! I'm wondering if you'd know of any resources/websites/companies that offer services like a one-time live Zoom (or any other platform) session for people who have little or no experience with yoga. I've done some Google searches, but I can't seem to find anything that's like bringing the instructor to a group rather than bringing a group to an instructor. Thank you!

    Yoga - Breathe work??

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 07:40 AM PST

    Hi all,

I'm struggling with my breathe work while practicing yoga. I'm fairly new to the practice and have been doing the Yoga with Adriene YouTube videos. I don't understand how to breathe between poses. I often find myself trying to follow along with Adriene when she says breathe in and breathe out, but when I do that I find myself out of breathe or gasping for air before she says breathe out again.

Specifically in a flow, I'm using her as a guide on when to breathe but when I try and breathe at my own pace I find my breathe is too quick or too slow, then I fall behind with the poses and she's way ahead of me on the video. I always feel like its a battle between trying to figure out my breathing in a flow and matching it up with her guidance.

Any tips or guidance would be appreciated!

how do you approach getting better at Yoga (physical aspect) ?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 07:04 AM PST

I've practiced Yoga for years now. In the past it just has been a practice which I enjoyed and helped me physically and mentally. I never tried to get intentionally better, but of course just by practicing regularly I did.

For me it is more intuitive how to physically improve in other practices, like strength training. Here you just need to follow a training program and try to progressively increase the load or number of repetitions.
Now I want to intentionally improve my Yoga skills, but I do not know how to approach it.

I thought that maybe there are some follow along programs where you go from lesson to lesson after having mastered the previous one.
I have found beautiful programs but they are mostly flow programs fixed at a certain difficulty.

For the people that aspire to progress in the physical/ skill aspect of yoga, how do you approach it ?

    Thank you 🧡

How to take at-home yoga practice to the next level?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:04 AM PST

I am starting to get bored with the videos I find online, and I think I'm ready to start crafting my own sequences and working into new postures. Where should I start with this? Particularly interested in low-cost/budget/free options if possible but open to purchasing books as well.
