| Today I realized how not permanent everything is. Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:07 AM PDT Weird thing happened today. I finished reading one manga which was running for a couple of years. And suddenly, I realized how everything changes. Nothing will last forever. For a moment I felt hopeless and somewhat sacred. But after I let go of this feeling, I suddenly remembered that this is what I was looking for. The realization that everything is not permanent. And now I feel no fear, no anger, ego disappeared. Maybe I was able to let go only for a moment but what a beautiful moment of absolutely letting go of everything. Also, a feeling of caring for others strongly appeared. Thank you all for this wonderful community. Other posts helped me a lot with getting this realization. Loves [link] [comments] |

| I burst into tears today and it felt really good Posted: 09 Apr 2021 03:45 PM PDT I decided to meditate today because why not. Couldn't bring myself to do anything else. After meditating I went to touch a plant from my garden. Without much judgement I just started caressing this bush, and holding its leaves and idk feeling its life. I felt this bush was there with me and there for me, as if this little gentle plant body took the form of a conscious being. I felt a comforting presence of nature taking care of me in that moment. Suddenly, uncontrollable flood of tears stream down my face and my jaw trembles. For the first time, I felt how everything my body was repressing, all the emotion that has been numbed out over the past years, started to come out. I kept crying just because it felt so good and I couldn't stop. It was freeing. Grabbing onto this cute little bush emptying out this emotion felt fulfilling. I wonder if there's a name to this feeling/happening. What did I just go through? It was amazing. I think it's because I haven't been showing myself empathy for quite a while and today I tried to meditate on forgiveness, to forgive my abusers so I can move on, and forgive my past self for being stupid for letting it happen to me. I usually don't cry when it comes to myself that's why this was surprising for me, but I felt something so real and I remembered I am human. I am a human, and I cry, just like a baby. | Meditation has made me realize how much pressure I am putting on myself. For no reason at all. Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:02 PM PDT Meditation has made me become more aware of my wandering, stressful mind. Constant worry about the 5-6 things on my mind, everyday all day long. Years ago we used to be in school, our only worry for the following day to complete our homework. Once done, you can relax and play happily and enjoy the evening with you friends in the garden or park. The garden has disappeared from my life, just because I wasn't letting my mind take a break. Slowly, I am becoming more aware to be present in the moment, in the reality rather than be in my virtual thought world. And I understand why meditation requires practice and patience, you need to build it up. Your thoughts can be more organized. Rather than worrying about things constantly, you can throw them in a time frame and tame them. Rest of the day, you relax. I never intended to get any superpowers from it, this is more than super for me, for a stressful person who wasn't able to realize what was wrong with him. Hopefully it'll only get better hereon. A lot of the people who informative content here have been helpful. Thanks to you guys. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:41 PM PDT Hey everyone, I've been playing singing bowls and recently made a channel (linked here) to hopefully share with others. I dont have a circle of friends who really share interest in this. It's amazing to me that these bowls helped my routine and curb bad habits that I felt I ever would. It's been a wonderful outlet that helps me with meditiation, calming my mind, and I find myself thinking of past trauma and actually being able to face it instead of brushing it under the carpet. I just wanted to drop in and share it with some humble like minded people and see what you think, and if you've had any similar enlightening experiences with them. Happy healing [link] [comments] |
| Last Beach Meditation Session ended with lightening Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:13 PM PDT So I'm relatively new to Meditation practices, but I'm in a class called Meditation and Mindfulness this semester. An amazing class that teaches Samkyha methods and ideology, then Zen meditation. So, while on vacation, I've meditated every night while overlooking the beach. Tonight my meditation just hit different. I reached a point where I couldn't tell the difference between my limbs, where at one point I felt as though I was spinning with the earth. But then, I started to feel almost like I was leaking out of my body, I couldn't even tell you what hands were let alone where they were. Just as I was starting to feel pulled back to my body, I happened to open my eyes, and just as I was looking out a bolt of lightening struck the water, and my meditation timer went off at the same time. I usually say a little prayer to the earth, more specifically the water every night post meditation. Tonight I felt like I didn't even have words for, because for what felt like the first time, I saw her. Her might waves, he gentle caresses, the untamed beauty and the way she graces us with life yet can so swiftly take it away. It fel like she was seeing me right back and I've never been at more peace. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 10 Apr 2021 02:44 AM PDT Meditation is a beautiful and whole-hearted embodiment of the phrase: "slow down to accelerate." When we meditate we are stepping out of our thoughts and feelings, giving way to a greater level of awareness. For it is true that to constantly experience something, is to lose awareness of it. In the same way that you can't see your nose because it is always there and your brain filters it out. A more complex example can be seen in humans before the discovery of gravity, how can we automatically assume the presence of gravity. It has 'always been there' so it ceases to exist. We accept whatever reality we are presented with. Our brain is constantly functioning to define a sense of what is 'normal' as we learn and grow by interacting with the world around us and its inhabitants. So to meditate, is to step out of gravity ( thoughts/feelings/conscious mind) and go into space, where you have a much clearer perspective on things. You see the whole earth for what it is, a colourful marble suspended in vast darkness. When we do not meditate and are constantly trying to escape the debt of all the thoughts and feelings we do not want to deal with, we lose sight of reality; we become our thoughts and feelings, no matter how irrational or biased. | How does one have ‘Complete realization’ Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:34 PM PDT As the title states I find it hard to understand how people have these huge enlightening realizations about the universe and others around them. What does it take to truly understand these epiphanies such as 'nothing is permanent' that makes itself no longer a burden to just exist in. I have heard all of these and mediated upon them for months, however life still feels more or less the same. I tried to learn all of these epiphanies about the universe but I just can't seem to get it. Even though I know them, shouldn't my paradigm be shifted as well? What does it take to truly shift perspective. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:52 AM PDT Time as an illusion didn't sink in until recently. I was lying down thinking about something and whoosh came in a thought. It was very clear. It was a thought with a time label attached to it. That is, the thought itself had no labels, but another mini-thought came in and labelled the thought as past. In that moment, I understood what the meditative traditions have been saying about psychological time. It is not real. It only exists when you think about it. When I remember the past, it comes into being. I'm the one giving it any semblance of life. I cannot touch, feel, play and dance in past or future. It only exists when I label a thought as past or future. The thought itself has no time. It is the remembering that the event occurred in the past that reifies time. When I look at my plant, past only comes in when I remember it was shorter a year ago. When I eat ice cream, time only comes in when I remember how it tasted before. When I see my nephew, time only comes in when I remember how much he's grown since the last time I saw him. | Looking every minute as first and last instead of good or bad Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:16 PM PDT I was listening to a podcast yesterday evening that really stuck with me. We often see moments as pleasant or unpleasant. What if instead we look at them as first and last? Every moment you experience is the first and last of it. There will might be similar events in the future, but it will not be the same. Regardless of the pleasantness (or unpleasantness) of the situation, it is indeed the first and last time you experience this exact moment. Keeping this thought in the back of my head since, and I feel slightly happier. Cherishing every minute like it's the first and last, because it is. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:59 AM PDT Hello All, and I hope everyone is having a nice day. I have gotten a new job and am going to be able to sit for meditation more often. The only catch is that my roommate snores and I would like to not hear it while in a meditative space. So I have two questions: Do you guys use headphones while in meditation? If so, would you suggest soundproof headphones? Thank you so much for your time and happy day to all. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 09 Apr 2021 12:05 PM PDT I pretty much always have a song playing on repeat in my brain, but sometimes it's really distracting when I meditate. I'll usually acknowledge it and try to ignore it. I'm curious to hear other people's take on this issue [link] [comments] |
| A question about Isha Kriya and Chakras Posted: 09 Apr 2021 10:42 AM PDT I started meditating at the start of this year and shortly after that I began Chakra meditation. Thats been going well but something in me wanted to have a look into other forms of meditation. Recently I've found out about Isha Kriya and I'm not sure if you can do both or if it's not okay to mix them. I've tried researching but I can't find anything that tells me. If any one knows I would love to learn about these two being used together. If it helps to know, I'm currently healing in general from past experiences and my goal is to feel peaceful, vibrate at a positive frequency and maintain a mindset of abundance Can you do Isha Kriya and Chakra Meditation at same time ? ( I.e Chakra in the morning, Isha Kriya in the afternoon) Hope someone can help ! :) [link] [comments] |
| Is my pranayama (breath work) practice causing me the hiccups? Posted: 09 Apr 2021 10:33 AM PDT I do a lot of diaphragmatic breathing. I've had the same exact breath work practice for over the last month but all of a sudden, I have the hiccups. ALL. THE. TIME. I don't know what is causing them considering all I've almost exclusively continue to drink water. [link] [comments] |
| Can someone explain if I got this right or if just stupid? Posted: 09 Apr 2021 07:12 PM PDT Through the breath, the meditator leads his consciousness into the mind's silence, which lies beyond the mental sounds and the body's distractions and movements. The state of silence is created in our minds by aligning it with the principle of silent witness. For me, one of the book's most exciting and liberating lessons is the revelation that anger in the past is often disguised as problems that we do not usually associate with anger, i.e., depression, fidgeting, hiding, being bullied, being a workaholic, undefined rest and smoldering anger. I've found that only recognizing a situation that annoyed me as a child has enabled me to calm down my daily activities. I discovered that my fidgeting excitement and my mind's tendency to be scattered in the past. When I stepped out of comments and situations that made me angry, they hurt much more minor. Your attention is necessary to be here in the now. The best way to relax your mind is to calm down a little and remember that the body knows how to relax when it's pressured. As you breathe, you are aligning it with the principle of silence. This alignment creates room for more creative thought, higher consciousness, and greater chances for living a life of abundance and freedom from fear. To jump from one activity to the next was an association. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:41 AM PDT Hi, maybe somebody can relate. When 'observing thoughts' im either identified with a thought, meaning im caught up in it, or not having a thought at all. It feels like 'having' a thought and 'observing' it at the same time, is impossible. Maybe i can switch fast between observing and having, but it seems to me like pure observing, as recommended in mindfulness or anapanasati, like leaves in a river, is simply not doable, like something that seems simultaneous but isnt. I can determine right after a thought i HAD a thought, not during. Anybody have the same doubts while meditating? [link] [comments] |
