What is the significance of fasting when meditating? I feel like my meditation is unbelievably better when fasting as opposed to not.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 08:34 AM PDT

For instance, I do a normal breathing meditation and on a day that I fast everything just clicks perfectly. My attention, focus and ability to watch my thoughts is sharper.

Is there a reason for this? Maybe because the blood flow isn't focused on digesting or anything else like that?

Just wanted to get some other perspectives on this, thanks!

Staying present with physical pain and discomfort?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:50 PM PDT

I've been practicing meditation and mindfulness for almost a year now. I started because it was recommended by my therapist to see if it could help with my anxiety and panic attacks. I think it has made a difference in that regard.

However, I've now been dealing with physical health conditions more and more and that is something I am struggling with, especially when I'm trying to remain present.

I've read about how you should approach this pain and discomfort with gentle curiosity, but that's something I've had trouble comprehending or understanding how to do this. I usually end up thinking about why is this happening? Not in a "why is this happening to me?" way, although that thought sometimes pops up, but rather what happened that triggered this pain to start up again, especially after going a longer stretch without that pain, whatever it may be. Some of the sensations can be fairly distracting and has been disruptive to my life on occasion.

Any suggestions on how to approach this better? I'd appreciate any guidance you can give.

Advice on sustaining the empowered state I feel in meditation

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:38 PM PDT

I am able to reach very expanded states of awareness in meditation where I feel so empowered. All my fears and limited beliefs dissolve away and I feel like I can accomplish anything. But as I merge back with my limited personality self the fears and limited thinking gradually starts to come back in. Has anyone discovered a practice that helped to make these profound expanded states we are able to connect with more permanent for them in day to day life? Thank you!

Success stories managing anxiety and depression through meditation and mindfulness?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 11:55 PM PDT

I've read so much about meditation and mindfulness but have only ever dabbled in it. I suffer from occasional anxiety and depression. I would love to hear stories from anyone who has had success managing their mental health issues through meditation and mindfulness. Any tips to get started and not just continually dabble?

I get headaches when I meditate

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:11 PM PDT

I meditate everyday morning after I do a 8 minutes workout at home. I'm meditating with the timer and playing some nature music while I'm focusing on my breath.

Now, when I close my eyes, I tend to feel that my eyes need to look at something. So I tend to "look at" the middle of my eyebrows and concentrate on that.

However, this has caused some headache in me and I feel groggy. Am I doing anything wrong?

I read somewhere that the middle of your eyebrows is the place of your "third eye" and focusing on that can have some spiritual ramifications.

I need your advice, showering with your experience on me. Advice me whatever you think. How would you do it if your eyes wanted to look at something?

I'm not a fan of open eye Meditations because I find it more distracting.

Why should I accept suffering when it comes?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:53 PM PDT

Why should I accept suffering when as an animal I am naturally oriented towards happiness, life, joy, good things? Why should I love and accept suffering when it comes? suffering is litterally ''anti-life'', anti-joy. I am an animal and I want to live, I want an easy life I do not accept the suffering as if it was ''it's ok ,it's part of life'' .It's not okkey, suffering it's not good

Thoughts of violence and injustice anger me while meditating.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:23 PM PDT

So basically what the title says. During meditation I'll just think of random acts of injustice or violence against innocent people and it infuriates me. For example today while meditating I couldn't stop thinking about Kyle rittenhouse. It just boiled my blood that someone in America can walk to a protest with a gun, shoot 3 people, and then have a Christian group raise thousands of dollars to get him out of jail. How can I find peace within myself when there are such mighty injustices in my own home country? Or the fact we had a prolonged case for a murder the entire world watched on repeat. (George Floyd). Whenever I think of things like this during meditation it gets me very angry. And I try to do the usual "acknowledge your thoughts and put them to the side", but unlike most thoughts this has emotion behind it, and a strong one at that. How do I go about solving this problem? What are my steps? Is there some big philosophical point I need to realize or do I just not think about it?

    Sleep & meditation

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 08:54 PM PDT

Just curious what y'all think. So sometimes I'll meditate and completely lose my mind, and I can't really tell if I've been sleeping or what, it's sort of a blended state or I'm so relaxed I end up falling asleep. Is this a good thing, or have I just fallen asleep?

Follow up question, is sleep as clarifying as meditation? Idk if that makes sense but am I getting as much from meditating as just going to sleep?

    Thanks for the insight!

    Aliens?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:14 PM PDT

I keep seeing aliens when I mediate, and others I have spoken to do as well. I see a female Lyran which I believe to be a spirit guide of mine, but today I saw greys. Not sure why they popped up but the energy was definitely less friendly. Anyone else seeing aliens when meditating?

Guided meditations for getting in touch with one's emotions?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:48 AM PDT

I'm trying to get more in touch with my emotional life and heart. Can anyone suggest any guided meditations to help move consciousness from the mind to the heart? Ideally its something I'd like to do daily, as a sort of check in.

I've been enjoying Loch Kelly's guided meditations on the Waking Up app, and Tara Brach's RAIN meditation, it is amazing. But I'd like to branch out a little.

    Thanks in advance!

Should I "do" something when meditating?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:09 AM PDT

I'm practicing meditation recently and there's been quite a few discoveries for myself:

    • Sometimes I will "zone out" or have the feeling similar to being stoned when smoking weed
    • Sometimes I feel a tingle in the middle of my forehead (third eye position)
    • Sometimes I was stressing about something, and when I meditated for a certain length of time that stress goes away and I feel a sense of calmness
    • Yesterday I had a slight body spasm (I found that it's similar to what people describe as Kundalini awakening but I got nothing out of it yet)

I had all of that effect by concentrating onto the forehead. Should I do something else to achieve better result? Should I have any techniques or maybe try to ask questions to myself? Do you have any sort of revelation or discoveries about yourself when meditating?
