Been working to build a sustainable at home practice. 3days/week for a half hour is my sweet spot. Posted: 30 Jul 2021 05:04 AM PDT |
I just put together my first flow on my own! Posted: 30 Jul 2021 04:38 PM PDT Picked up yoga last year around the start of quarantine (forever grateful for this practice, because it truly kept me sane and grounded). I started with Adriene's youtube videos, and then continued with Peloton's yoga series. Lately I've fallen off the bandwagon as I train heavily for my races this summer, but I tried to work in some practices again the last few weeks just to help stretch. Today I wanted to practice but no videos really spoke to me, I wanted to listen to certain music, etc etc... so I finally just started on my own, without a video, and managed to work my way through a warm up, sun salutations, and a little flow that I pieced together on the fly for about 20 minutes! I'm proud of myself because the idea of just practicing yoga on my own, without a guide or video, was always intimidating. But it felt so nice, and I felt like I was in control and could really listen to my body and do what felt good and felt right. This community has been great as I lurk to stay inspired. Thank you all! Is there such thing as a yoga awakening? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:09 PM PDT My partner is an amazing and loving human being, but I feel like he hasn't experienced for himself this gift that yoga has given me. I'd describe it as a deep awareness of the importance of creating space for yourself to just pause. Every conversation goes in circles about work, buying property, financial investments, and the future. I'm beginning to feel less grounded around him and don't know what to do about it. I want us to grow old together, but I also feel like we're on two opposite ends of the spectrum. When it comes to mindfulness practices, he says he wants to do more of it, but he never ever creates the time for it. I know it would do him wonders, but you can't force someone to pursue the path. What would you do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:50 AM PDT I have been practicing yoga for about an year and still continuing and here are few points I observe in myself : 》It improved my flexibility and mobility dramatically, in beginning my fingers hardly reach to my ankles but now I can do full splits and monkey pose effortlessly. 》All over body strength, from 2-3 push-ups to 30 push-ups in one stretch, Crow pose, Peacock Pose and Hand Balance in one shot. 》Mood swings and feeling low is not a big issue now. 》Acne & pimple free face (I had a lot, maybe due to puberty but now it's clear) 》Little to no hair-fall, I can do headstands and other inverted poses good for proper blood flow in scalpe. 》Least hospital visits compared to before yoga, also my lifestyle is also changed, waking up early sleeping at same time daily has it's own positive effects. My height has also increased, improved digestion and less bad stomach problems. Keeping it regular was quite challenging but now it's addictive. [link] [comments] |
List of sustainable yoga prop stores that support India Posted: 29 Jul 2021 10:30 PM PDT Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy some yoga props (yin props, incense, mat bags, etc) in the UK and EU, and I don't want to just buy from the big brands. I was hoping we could start a thread here of e-commerce stores that are either based in India, sell products made by Indian artisans, or use profits yo support disadvantaged Indian people directly. I feel quite deeply that we all benefit from this great cultural phenomenon, and I would personally love to purchase things that can give back to the communities that gave birth to our practice. If you have some suggestions to share with the subreddit, add them here! I'm looking for EU and UK shipping, but global stores also encouraged! I've hit the search function but couldn't find a similar thread so I hope this is ok! [link] [comments] |
Alternate Poses for Torn Hip Labrum? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:19 AM PDT My doctor suspects I have a torn hip labrum (waiting for MRI to confirm). I used to love child's pose and happy baby but now any pose with a deep bend or knee to chest causes lots of pain in my front right hip/groin. I practice yoga at home and it seems like Child's pose is in almost every video. What are some options I can use in place of child's pose? [link] [comments] |

What is your meditation practice? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:55 AM PDT I have been practicing pranayama for 3 weeks now and I'm noticing very positive results. I've read that there is more to yoga than just Asanas and pranayama. Specifically meditation. What type of meditation (breath, mantra, etc) does a yogi practice? [link] [comments] |
Essential Oils, I´m new to essential oils. What´s your overall experience with them? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:41 AM PDT I have heard so much about essential oils that I am considering using them. I have no idea which brand to try first though. Can someone here share your experience? Why did you start using them? Have they helped with anything? Which brand do you prefer and why? Is there anything you dislike? [link] [comments] |
