3 Months into my ashtanga practice

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 09:14 AM PDT

Hello everyone! I have by chance attended a retreat in Goa that was Ashtanga focused and fell in love with it! I have done about 8 years of strong yoga and ashtanga surprised me. I currently do half series and find that after 2 days of practice I am so sore that i need to do smth else. Do you recommend to push through? Does the pain subside?

Also, i have noticed a huge difference in my body's strength and flexibility, some days I am so open and some very tight. Is it diet? Sleep? Does anyone have any tips? I am vegan, however do like a big dinner, so this could be a problem. Very excited to be on this journey!

    Time/Progression between series

    Hey everyone,

Before I even ask, I know that everybody's ashtanga journey progresses at different rates and this question is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string is. But,

How many years is it common to spend on each series before moving on to the next?

I've been practising for a bit over a year and am just able to finish primary, now starting to add on asanas intermediate.

I've heard Eddie Stern say it's common for 2 years primary, 4 years intermediate, 8 years advanced

    What is your experience?

    Namaste
