Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:31 PM PDT So, my yoga journey started with Adriene, then progressed alongside Barre Blend with Elise from Beach Body as I tried out some other instructors with free videos on Youtube. I was looking to challenge myself - Breathe and Flow as well as KinoYoga combined with Barre allowed me to progress steadily as well and to start bringing regular meditation into my practice. As my Barre Blend program came to an end, I began to look at other options. I wanted to keep Barre but with variety, and I wanted more from yoga than free practices can offer. Enter Down Dog. I am obsessed. It has literally everything I could possibly want - yoga, barre, meditation and body-weight HIIT. I love everything about the app. I have different music and different voices for each genre. I love deciding that yesterday I wanted to do 60 minutes Intermediate Vinyasa with 5 minutes Savasana. But today, I wanted to do 25 minutes HIIT, 15 minutes barre, and 20 minutes restorative with 10 minutes Savasana. I hate traditional cardio, but my ability to customize my workout so that I don't repeat a single move makes it so much more fun! Yeah...I may have been a bit overambitious today, trying it out for the first time. I had to modify a couple of the push-up rounds. But I got through the entire thing, and all the strength and balance I've gained over the past months enabled me to be able to do things I wouldn't have been able to do this time last year. I'm thinking I can cancel my Beach Body on Demand. If I decide to pick up weights again, there are free Youtube videos. And I can always purchase Elise's barre workouts, which I may do. I just don't see myself going back to the other workouts with all the annoying background chatter, poorly timed jokes, and incessant talking. I get that it's supposed to be encouraging, but sometimes it just messes me up. Pulls me out of my concentration and makes me lose my balance. (I'm looking at YOU Autumn of 80DO) TL/DR: I am obsessed with the Down Dog App. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:26 PM PDT Hey y'all!! I've been doing yoga on and off over the last year. For the last week I've gotten really good at doing about 30-60mins an hour, daily. However today when I went into downward facing dog my wrists could not get comfortable. Three legged dog was even worse (I think it's called that when you kick a leg back out). It was uncomfortable and sore (inside inner wrists) Am I overdoing it? Should I be taking breaks? I feel soooo good doing it this time, better than ever before and wanna ride this high. Should I do something lighter and let them rest? Thanks a bunch! Y'all are some beautiful and talented folks!! [link] [comments] |
What kind of yoga pose am I supposed to do if my hips are already opened and I cry easily? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:26 PM PDT Ok weird question but everyone is always talking about hip-opening yoga poses to help you release pent up emotions but I don't need help in that department, in fact I would like to regain a sense of control over my emotional state and I'm just wondering if there are any other types of stretches or poses that offer this that may not get as much attention as they deserve. Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |
Going into full swing after barely any yoga since October Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:48 PM PDT I moved house in October and once we moved in I didn't do it at all in November, and only did three sessions a month. In May I started to get a habit mainly because my subscription to Down Dog was going to end in a June. As June rolled and I renewed my subscription I started going into it almost every day. I have gone almost three weeks in a row and have started to notice some muscle soreness and strength gain. Some poses are becoming easy, but I still need work. I also got my Liforme mat today and I love it. It feels very sturdy and grips amazingly. I can't wait to do some standing poses on it. [link] [comments] |
Need some advice on how to get back on my mat Posted: 30 Jun 2021 01:09 PM PDT I had been doing so well with my yoga practice and just exercising daily in general. I work in the restaurant industry in France, and since things opened back up in May, I've been completely drained and haven't moved my body since. My days off I just stay in bed and have no motivation at all. Even the idea of getting on my mat "just for 15 minutes" seems so pointless to me. Like what good is 15 minutes gonna do ? Plus I'm terrified of seeing and feeling how much progress I've lost in these last 45 movement-less days. Sorry for the rant. Just feeling a bit lost here and not sure what to do, so thought some advice from fellow yogis might inspire me. Thank you 🙏🏼 [link] [comments] |

Post-panic attack yoga — best poses/videos for anxiety? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:54 AM PDT Hi folks! Hope you're all doing well! I had a panic attack Monday, and I'm still feeling off today. I haven't done yoga in a few weeks, and I haven't been able to go for my usual walk outside in a few days because of the heatwave :/ I would love to try starting yoga again today. Any suggestions? Thank you! TL;DR: Looking for suggestions for poses/videos that may be helpful for anxiety and/or good in the aftermath of an anxiety attack. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2021 02:42 PM PDT For me? Plow pose. I am actually really flexible and very advanced in my practice, but that post I just can barely even get into and I watch people on their first day do it perfectly and I'm over here like, "welp, here we go" as I fall out of it 100 times and DESPERATELY try not to fart lol [link] [comments] |

Where to practice kundalini yoga? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:28 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've been practising yoga for a couple of years and I did a 200 hours training course 3 years ago. I'm thinking of learning more and specifically I'd like to learn about kundalini yoga. I'm not necessarily intending to awake kundalini, just curious to learn more about this. So my question is, do you have any recommendations where I can do another course? Could be the 300 hours or just a month course specifically for kundalini. Ideally not too expensive. I did my 200 hours in India for about 1500 USD. Pretty much anywhere in Europe or Asia is fine by me. I can travel around [link] [comments] |
Scoliosis and back pain after chatauranga? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:15 AM PDT I got diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 14. have been having a lot of back and shoulder pain lately after doing yoga. Is chatauranga bad for scoliosis? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jun 2021 02:14 PM PDT How do you plan the sequence of Asanas for your 30-60 minutes, daily morning or evening practice? I personally begin with sitting Asanas followed by Asanas on my back, then Stomach and then Standing. Are there other patterns that you use. Any insights to avoid monotony and optimize outcomes? Om Shanti. [link] [comments] |
Loaded question: What's the best yoga book? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:50 AM PDT I have minor scoliosis and have been living an unhealthy lifestyle for the past five years. But things are about to change and I'm highly motivated. Looking for a comprehensive book on yoga, primarily the physical, perhaps energy component to it too. I plan on meditating daily and in the next few years after the necessary preparation, I plan on ordaining as a Buddhist monk and dedicating the foreseeable future to the spiritual life. Any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:05 PM PDT When i was a kid, i was diagnosed with scoliosis. By the time i was 11 or 12, i was regularly seeing a chiropractor to manage my back pain. Sometimes it worked, usually it didn't. Last year my partner introduced me to yoga. Even doing it once or twice a week was showing me how tight my back was, and within a few months i had noticeably less pain. A year in now, and i have NONE of the pain thats persisted for as long as a i can remember. Now it makes sense why my chiropractor had urged me to do his stretches every night [link] [comments] |
