Have a "stupid" question and are afraid to ask it? (Or don't want to make a whole thread for it?) Well, feel free to ask away in this thread! There's no such thing as a stupid question. This is also a great opportunity for the rest of the community to help each other out.

    Guidelines:

    • As always, read the FAQ to make sure your question isn't answered already.
    • If you're looking for the Motivational Month threads from the past, they are all here in our Wiki.
    • You can also use the search bar to see if an answer to your question exists already.
    • We are not medical professionals. If something hurts and it doesn't go away within a week's rest, see one!

    Enjoy!

Looking for a specific post about back flexibility

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:20 AM PDT

Hi friends, this might be a longshot but I've been searching for a post from probably over a year ago. I've searched the sub several times and haven't managed to find it, but maybe one of you remember it. It was a post about back flexibility- a girl posted before and after pictures and had made massive flexibility gains throughout her entire back, really impressive. Underneath she had included her routine, which is what I'm really interested in. I don't know if the post has been deleted or I'm just an incompetent sleuth, but if any of you can give me a hand I would be really glad. I'm here in full lockdown because of you know what and figured I would try and recover some of the flexibility I had before, and this girl's routine looked great. Thank you all in advance!

Struggling with Supine Spinal Twist - what other stretches can I do to support this?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:22 AM PDT

Pretty much what the title says... I really have trouble with supine spinal twist, and cat pulling its tail is my most hated stretch...

Are there easier stretches to improve flexibility in this area?

Want to get better at squats but not sure if ankle, hips or hamstrings is holding me back

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 09:14 PM PDT

I have done fms tests in the past and long story short everything sucks. I have poor ankle dorsiflexion but also have tight hips. Deadlifts and barbell squats always cause lower back tightness- soreness the next day. I also tend to lean forward doing back squats even with a 20 pound ez curl bar. Also I cannot sit in a squat with my feet down without holding on to weight .Now that I'm in lockdown with the quarantine thought this is the best time to work on stuff but not sure where to start. I looked at the beginner squat stretch video link posted on this forum but that is mostly for tight hips? Is there a tried & tested program someone has done to work on ankle, hips , hamstrings mobility etc and has had some degree of success? If so can you please recommend resources? I'm willing to do a pAid program if it doesn't cause a fortune. Thanks a bunch!

How can I tell which muscles are holding me back in the front splits?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:00 AM PDT

I feel like some of my leg muscles are flexible (for example I can easily do a butterfly stretch and pigeon) however I'm still quite a way off from my front split. Any advice on how to identify the muscles which need the most work?

    Confused

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 07:53 PM PDT

In a scale of 1 to 10 about flexibility I would say I'm 1.5-2, I'm 20, Male. I started following Antranik's splits routine today, but I don't know if I chose the correct way to start or not I read the pinned, besides it feels like impossible mission for me and I didn't even complete a single routine well .. Someone was like me and achieved that "impossible task" ?

Would doing delt stretches stretch the rotator cuff muscles as well?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 09:50 AM PDT

I am currently in the process of strengthening my weak rotator cuffs. However, my delts are very stiff atm. Would stretching my delts also stretch my rotator cuffs as well?

    Old mans hip?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 03:29 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help me with my left hip issue. When preforming any of the hip stretches (pigeon, butterfly, firelog and especially the figure 4 pose), I feel a nice stretch in my right hip, but my left hip just HURTS like hell, and sometimes it feels like cartilage inside my hip joint is crackling. I never had an injury and it was like this ever since I started stretching. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Needle pain in outer hamstring when stretching

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:56 AM PDT

I'm not seeking medical advice, I just want to know if anyone has experience with this or knows a potential cause.

When I stretch my legs (think trying to touch your toes), I get a very acute pain in my outer hamstring, roughly midway down. If I stretch only the muscle (by not completely extending my leg), there is no pain. The moment I extend my leg and bring my toes toward my body, there is pain. This makes me think that it is related to nerves rather than the muscle.

In retrospect, I've had this pain for a while, but it has never bothered me. I've started stretching more and running (I am not flexible) and the pain is prohibitive. It only occurs when I stretch, not during any normal day-to-day routines (unless I bend down with straightened legs). It is very sharp and very localised, as though I've torn something in that very tiny area that gets aggravated when I stretch.

Thanks in advance for any insight
