Can internal hip mobility actually be improved?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:32 AM PDT

Really needing to improve my internal hip mobility as I have zero. I have very good external hip mobility but I feel internal is way more important for taekwondo (decent form side kick, hook kick etc).

It seems very difficult to work on this though, all the research I've done has resulted in little improvement. I've always walked with my feet turned outwards, not sure if it could be genetic.

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with improving this?

    Warmup before stretching

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:06 PM PDT

So I have scapular winging and rounded shoulders and I was wondering if I have to warm up before I do my corrective stretches (chest, levator scap, rhomboids) at night before bed.

    Left Hamstring Pulled/Torn?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:05 AM PDT

I doing the splits tonight (warmed up and pre stretched) and it was all fine till I did my left leg and as I pushing myself further down (didn't feel any resistance), I felt like as if my hamstring cracked twice and immediately stopped stretching. Now I can walk but when I extend the leg or try to a forward fold I feel a bit of resistance in my left hamstring. I really hope it's not bad, and for how long I should rest it.

A few questions about daily stretching.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 03:21 PM PDT

There is so many opinions online that I'm lost. I'm new to focusing on flexibility. I've been weight training for around 5 years now. I'm getting into martial arts and am really looking to open up my hips; but that's really besides the point.

So far my routine has been:

    1. Early morning, following this routine. It's a laid back kind of a combo of static/dynamic stretching.

    2. Pre-workout, following this routine. This is with the intention of getting my kicks higher.

    So a few questions.

    1. Should I be static stretching in the morning on cold muscles?

    2. The pre-workout routine involves static stretching, should I only be doing dynamic prior to working out?

    3. If I moved to dynamic before the workout, then I would need to do some static stretching after the workout. Should I be stretching 3 times a day?

    Increase flexibility with mobility routine?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 06:47 AM PDT

So I've decided to drop my flexibility routines in order to invest more time in mobility routines. However, Im not sure if it will help me increase my range of motion. Im not sure if this approach is good, your thoughts?

Im not trying to achieve splits (however if I will be able to it'll be an awesome bonus). But i do want to increase my range of motion for my Calisthenics training in order to achieve complex exercises.

Thanks in advance for reading :)

    Apt and lower back pumps?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 01:36 PM PDT

Anyone else with anterior pelvic tilt get the craziest back pump with little activity?? I've tried stretching my hip flexors and strengthening my flutes and core. But nothing seems to work. I can't even do planks or bridges without my lower back getting a crazy pump

Beginner here - nausea during backbend exercises? Need some advice!

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:34 AM PDT

Hi guys :) I want to become more flexible with the goal of being able to do a backbend and split for starters. I am 24 years young, female and despite the issues below a „fit", slim and healthy person. I regularly go to the gym and do a lot of cardio and high rep weight training.

Especially backward flexibility is hard for me. I have always had issues with a tense neck and shoulders (along with frequent tension headaches and migraines), so anything backbend-related feels especially hard. When I tilt my head back, my muscles in the back of my neck hurt/feel sore and my head feels incredibly heavy - I have a hard time lifting it up again and I feel tempted to raise my shoulders and curl them inward a bit while doing this. Of course I try not to do that. I know that backbends are about hip and upper body flexibility and not about bending the lower back. However, after my stretching exercises that engage the spine backwards I feel sore in the lower back, even though I try not to engage it too much where possible by trying to keep my abs engaged and really just moving the chest forward/shoulders back. Also, I feel a bit nauseous and dizzy after my backbend exercises.

    So I have three questions:

    1. Is any soreness in the lower back and indication that I did something wrong? Or is some soreness/tiredness normal, especially as a beginner?

    2. Is the nausea/dizziness I experience from backbend exercises normal? I try not too force my body too much, should I take it even more easy?

    3. How can I help my neck?

    Thanks for any advice!!
