[COMP] Dancer on the Beach Sand Posted: 29 Mar 2020 01:40 PM PDT I've been working on my Dancer Pose since I started practicing Yoga daily in August 2018. It has progressed quite well. When I started, my leg was parallel with the mat. I am very proud of this :D [link] [comments] |
Anyone else's skin breaking out without hot yoga? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 05:19 PM PDT This might be kinda random, but ever since my local hot yoga studio closed down d/t this pandemic my skin has fallen victim to breakouts! I've always used facial soaps and I've stopped wearing make-up since I started sheltering in place, but I think hot yoga REALLY made a difference in my skin. Attending hot yoga classes 5-6x/week and sweating really cleared out my skin (imo)! I'm missing hot yoga sooooooo much! Anyone else going through the same thing? [link] [comments] |
Question: Would you watch an unconventional teacher? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 12:54 PM PDT hi yogis! i'm a yoga teacher who, like most yoga teachers, are out of work right now. fortunately it's not a source of income i depend on (i generally donate my check back to the studio i'm teaching in) but it is something i am very passionate about. since online is really the only source of quality yoga classes at the moment i have been seriously considering starting a channel, mainly for yin, but maybe some vinyasa thrown in for good measure. issue is i'm a chunky 40 year old man. i certainly don't match what most would consider the yoga physical aesthetic. it's never been an issue in my live studio classes and i feel as though i have helped some people into yoga who may have been reluctant to try due to their insecurities. i was mentioning the thought of creating a channel to a friend of mine yesterday and they brought up the idea, not in a mean spirited way mind you, that perhaps people might not be interested in an unconventional looking yoga teacher. what do you think reddit yogis? be honest. would you give someone who didn't match your ideal yoga image a shot if they had quality content?? thank you for your feedback! stay safe and sane out there...don't forget to breathe. Posted: 29 Mar 2020 07:51 AM PDT Hello beautiful yogis, I am a nurse assigned to a Covid unit in New Brunswick, Canada, and I am looking for warm up sequences and videos. We are looking to do 5-10mins at the start of every shift to stretch and empower us for the day. My specific request is that no floor work be involved (hospital floors are a no-no), however we do have walls and table/desk surfaces available. Anything and everything that you suggest is appreciated! Thank you and Namaste! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Mar 2020 05:19 PM PDT Very beginner here. Looking for some tips to start and achieve Sirsana (I think that's the right pose name? Head/hand stand). Thanks yogis. [link] [comments] |
Is it okay to start training handstands without being able to do a forearm stand? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 04:47 PM PDT I cannot do pincha. It causes me a lot of pinching (ha) pain in my right shoulder. I have okay balance if I have my hands close together, like in a headstand. Is it silly to begin working on handstands (which I've wanted to do forever) without having a solid forearm stand foundation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 02:01 PM PDT I have had a blockade in my hip since at least elementary school (that's when my athletics teacher first pointed it out to me) and I thought it was more or less a thing I couldn't change for the last 20 years. At the beginning of the year I started getting physical therapy, got orthopedic insoles and a splint for my jaw to finally get rid of the pains that radiate from that spot, also I changed my yoga practice to concentrate more on that area and started practicing much more regularly (twice a day atm) to finally become pain free. After a good practice I always feel a lump in my throat and now I'm wondering: am I on the way to unlock some deep buried emotions from years ago? Is that how it can feel like? Or just coincidence? Maybe someone here has experienced something similar. Namasté [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2020 03:21 AM PDT I wake up most days to a sore back just beneath my shoulder blades. With lots of time to practice self-isolation yoga these days, hunting for some poses that might increase the flexibility and strength of that part of my back. Any recommendations?? Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:07 AM PDT I have struggle at home with using my yoga strap to bind in poses like Marichyasana B and Ardha Baddha Padma Uttana Asana. A lot of the shalas I practice at have vacuum belts that had worked well for me. I have went to several home stores (before the pandemic) and could not find one of the correct size. Does anyone know what they would have used so I can order one online? I would also go with an actual yoga prop assuming they don't charge 50% for the word yoga associated with it. Suggestions? Looking for prenatal yoga resources Posted: 29 Mar 2020 05:56 AM PDT Hi fellow yogis, I've been practicing yoga for many years and became an instructor last summer. I'm now in my 2nd trimester and was going to a nice prenatal yoga class but not going anymore in person for the time being. I have a subscription to Gaia tv but I'm looking for a list of poses that are contraindicated for pregnancy can anyone here point me to a resource? [link] [comments] |
Vajrasana pain in left leg and ankles Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:47 AM PDT Hello fellow yogis and yogis, good morning. I wanted to reach out to you all for suggestions and help. I am trying to strengthen my yoga practice one weak area of mine has always been Vajrasana and Balasana. For some reason when I try to rest my glutes on my heels, my left leg(close to the knee area, either on the side on behind the knee) is on fire, there are days where I can barely sit for like 3 seconds in Vajrasana. Also, if I do manage to stretch out and extend my time, my ankles because of the way I bend them are in a lot of pain, more specifically the right ankle. So left knee region and right ankle. I don't want to avoid Vajrasana, because it is an important pose for me to get into a spiritual meditative zone. Image source: https://medlineplus.gov/ency/images/ency/fullsize/19399.jpg I do think it is either the Fibula or Tibial Collateral Ligament, but to be honest I am not 100% sure, and because of the current situation, don't want to go to the hospitals because this is something that is not killing me and other people need more help. Any suggestions/tips that you can provide will be extremely valuable to me. Note: I also use a small cushion and a knee pad just to be on the safe side. The cushion is probably about 2 inches and the knee pad is also around 2 inches. [link] [comments] |
