Was practicing my middle splits and after a year, this is the session I finally got it :D Thanks for all the helpful advice!

Made this hip and hamstring flow for my modern class tonight- thought you guys might find it useful. The benefits of moving around in stretches are game-changing!

I don’t have yoga blocks but I do have a foam roller and it has been awesome for working up my front splits.

31 and trying to get my splits. I used to run a lot hence the tight hips and hamstrings. Any tips?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 04:05 AM PDT

best way to stretch middle splits? I feel like the first one gives a deeper stretch, but with less weight then the second one. I also feel sort of a tension in my hamstrings when I do the first one. which one do you use?

    Looking for a flexibility buddy!

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 02:51 AM PDT

I'm currently under home quarantine, and during this time, I want to get my front splits! I have been stretching for a few months, but it wasn't consistent. I realized I get lazy after stretching consistenly after 2-3 days... So, if you're like me, let's be stretching buddies! I think I'll be more motivated to stretch everyday if I know I'm doing it with another person. Feel free to send me a message!! 😄

If you are feeling extra stiff, do you push through and stretch or take a rest day?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:29 PM PDT

I woke up with a very stiff and sore neck (I'm a tummy sleeper from way back that fell into bad habits). I know not moving it will only make it worse, but if I "push through" and do yoga like I normally would, could I end up hurting myself?

Deep pop in my hip during certain movements

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 02:56 PM PDT

I've always had problems with my bad and never thought much of it but as I'm getting older I'd rather sort it out now if need be rather than later when I cannot. I am 21. This issue has been persistent for at least 5 years.

During certain movements the right side of my hip will repeatedly produce a deep pop. For example during an crunches or I simple lift my right leg up and down as if I'm running on the spot. This doesn't hurt but becomes an ache after continuous popping.

Also not sure if related but whenever I sit for a while, workout or and tense movement like fast walking I feel tension in the middle of my lower back and I have a weird relief of popping when I hook my feet across each other and the push out, sometimes I have to hook and push harder than other times. A series of clicks will happen. I hope that makes sense. Sometimes it's sharp loud pop that hurts and sometimes it's very quiet.

I have done osteopherapy, chiropractor and physio with no success. Physio gave me exercises that never helped and said it was because the muscle on the right side of my back with bigger than the left side. Osteo also gave me exercises but clicked my back as well. Physio just said one leg was shorter and clicked my back as they always do.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Any shoulder strengthening/mobilizing exercises or stretches that I could start doing regularly?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 02:28 PM PDT

I have always had pain in both of my shoulders for many reasons (some known, some unknown) leaving me with very limited shoulder mobility and pain while doing fundamental shoulder-strengthening exercises, hindering my ability to gain strength doing these.

I have had a bit of a radical transition in my fitness regime, going from mostly slow-paced bodybuilding workouts (strength training per body group) and very little cardio to running daily, and only lifting weights within high intensity circuits and pretty much only doing squats or lunges with weights, and everything else high intensity intervals of bodyweight cardio and core exercises, along with much more stretching and just general functional-focused everything.

even with MUCH MUCH less strain on my shoulders, they still bother me. I have even been devoting much time towards shoulder stretches only, and they still hurt and have such limited mobility. I will say, though that I don't really know what I am doing and pretty much just flowing through random stretches that seem right. I'm wondering if there are some low-stress strengthening exercises or good stretches that I could do a couple times per day to help.

    Thanks!

    Flexibility and running

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 06:48 AM PDT

Hello! I have been very flexible my whole life and could easily drop into a side split. However, I started running (3-8 miles 3-4 times/week) about a year ago and my flexibility has really decreased. My question is - is it possibly to maintain a lot of flexibility while running a fair amount? What is needed to maintain splits yet still maintain running? I stretch after each run and do separate stretching sessions, but it seems that isn't enough.

Looking for foot/ankle focus - all of the routines I've found so far I *cannot* do.

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 07:24 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I've been working on my flexibility for some time now, but not as consistently as I should. I can touch my toes finally, and my hips are much more open. HOWEVER, the one place I've been unable to make progress with are my ankles/feet/toes. As a rather tall human (6'1" F) I injured my ankles quite a bit as a teen (lots of sprains!) and I broke every toe on each foot at one time or another. LOL I have no pain, but I also have NO flexibility. And I mean none. Child's pose causes the tops of my feet pain. I cannot bend my toes under my feet at all. They stay straight!! I've worked for some time now to press back into child's pose, to try to stretch those muscles... but I seem to be getting nowhere.

I was wondering if anyone had any good resources for SEVERELY inflexible feet. Everything I've come across is for people with much more bendy feet than I have.

any suggestions or resources you may have would be GREATLY appreciated. I feel a bit stuck! I've even gone to an orthopaedic doc for this and she laughed me out of the office and told me to come back if I had an issue. :\ Definitely trying to be proactive and AVOID issues. lol

    I appreciate your help everyone!

    Hip/groin tightness

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 12:37 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

would like to ask you guys whether you could help me with my problem. For quite some time I have been experiencing sharp, shooting pain, staring in the groin and radiating down to the knee (all over the quadriceps) when trying to pull my left knee to my chest (while lying down on the ground/the problem isn´t present in my right leg). At first I thought this could be a groin problem, now I´m actually thinking about hip tightness. Overall I´m not overly flexbile, but better average I would say. The ?hip problem? has been present for a long time time though and I feel like it limits my range of motion, as I´m not even able to squat properly because of the tightness. I would appreciate if you guys could recommend me some, preferably gentle -for now - excercise to try and tell me whether the problem could really be the hip or it could be originating from elsewhere.

Thank you in advance, stay safe
