Welcome to Form Check Friday! Here is the link to all previous Form Check Fridays

Please post a photo or video of the stretch you'd like to be critiqued. Do include any specific questions you have about your form.

Your video or photo should be:

    • Oriented the correct way, we want to see the lines of your body
    • Be formatted such that there isn't unnecessary video of you preparing for the move (keep it short)
    • Have the important bits of the movement clearly visible (multiple angles is always useful)
    • Include the whole body

    Rules for critiquing form

    • Constructive criticism only
    • Feel free to point others to resources that address their form and/or questions if you aren't "qualified" to give them advice yourself

If your form is awesome, consider posting it in the Show Off Sunday thread!

    Inspiration for a long journey?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 08:52 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I am a male in my mid-40s looking for inspirational stories / pics from other men who feel they have made a lot of progress. My goals are to go from limited flexibility to advanced. I'm fine if this takes 10 or more years.

I don't care much about doing splits, but I'd love to be able to sit in full lotus. My seated forward bend currently looks like an L.

Thanks for any links you can provide!

    Numbness while stretching?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 10:21 AM PDT

I'm newer to this whole flexibility thing, only ever stretching for organized sports when I was younger really.

I've just started a new stretching routine, and during some of the longer deep stretches, I'm feeling my stretched limb and some other parts of my body go numb (pins and needles). Has anyone else experienced this? Is this anything to worry about?

    Thanks!

What should i do to complete a side split? Help please~

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 05:00 PM PDT

    Hello,

So it's been a while since i've started stretching, i do it as a hobby and i've tried to do the right side split but i've never succeeded because i would stop when i'm too busy and go back again but the problem i've always noticed is my left leg. It feels as if my adductors are stretched enough but because of my left knee, my left thigh doesn't reach the floor?

I don't know if my knee is the problem, i'm just decribing what i'm feeling to be honest.

What advice can you give me please? Or videos you use to train?

    Thank you~

Specialized Flexibility/Mobility Program for inflexible weightlifters

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 11:05 AM PDT

I want to focus my time away from the gym in self-quarantine by really focusing of improvement my flexibility and mobility. My main goal is to be improve my ability to squat and deadlift, and something that has absolutely been holding me back in my lack of lower body flexibility. I have very tight hips and my hamstrings have basically 0 flexibility.

I have been trying to find a program that I can do at home one or two times a day to address these issues but cant seem to find anything very comprehensive. I was wondering if anyone had a extensive lower body flexibility program, that includes feet, ankles, calves, knees, quads, hamstrings, hips, ect…

Tight left hip flexors (causing right knee / foot pain?)

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 07:42 AM PDT

So currently in a journey to get my body back into alignment after abusing it / being inactive for a while now.

One thing I realized is that my left hip flexors are very very tight. Much tighter than the right.

I feel like because of this tightness, my pelvis is pulled forward and slightly to the left causing my right knee to collapse.

I never really had any issues with pain in my joints but when something hurt, it was always the arch of my right foot, espevially in the morning and the outside of my right knee. Left knee and foot have always been fine.

Question: anybody else here with a similar misalignment of the lower body? Any tips on how to fix it?

    Beginner Question

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 05:54 AM PDT

    Hi guys

i just started my journey to splits about a month ago. I did follow the recommended split "tutorial" from this sub :D

But after doing this for four weeks now I am kinda concerned about my knee. Espacially my right knee. I am trying to do the routine at least every second day, i warm up before doing it. But when it comes to the Side split i always feel the strech on my inner knee side. Not in the muscels but exacly at the knee. Like the ligament. I am not sure if that is a sign that my hamstrings need more streching or if i have a problem with me knee...

So i guess I'm just curious if that is normal or a commen mistake beginners do when they dont strecht der hamstrings right or enough.

Sorry english isnt my first language so I hope everything is understandable.

Do you know a good daily flexibility challenge?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 04:39 AM PDT

Hi there! I'm looking for a flexibility challenge (not just yoga) that I could start doing every day? Looking for something like The 30 Day calendars with Yoga with Adriene on YouTube where there's a new routine every day.

    Any recommendations?
