    Meditating in public

    Posted: 22 May 2020 01:41 PM PDT

I go to a park during my lunch hour, sit in my car, and do a 20 minute meditation. This park is adjacent to a restaurant (our state is reopening). This was the commentary from the guys setting up chairs on the back porch. "Snoring sounds", "Caw caw! "He doesn't look real" "He's not moving" "Is he dead?" "I don't see him breathing". I nearly lost my composure and laughed. I view this as a reminder not to take myself seriously. Hope you all have a great rest of your day.

If you're craving food, nicotine or games, then distracting yourself may not be working. By being aware and accepting the thoughts that trigger us to consume we can make positive change happen for the long term

    Posted: 22 May 2020 02:20 PM PDT

If you've tried given up smoking or cut back on calories you know how difficult dealing with cravings can be. Most of the time we try to distract ourselves - but this can end up making them worse. By being present with our thinking and accepting the associated feeling we can break the connection between the initial thoughts and acting to satisfy the desire, increasing our chances of long term wellbeing.

    A text from Dad

    Posted: 22 May 2020 09:01 PM PDT

I wish I could post a photo. But I just received a random text from my dad that said...

"Do you need headphones for meditation. Or can just listen from phone. Does it matter?"

It warmed my heart. I thought you all might appreciate it as well! Sometimes it is hard to be with family all of the time. This text was too cute and I'm so intrigued to see him give it a try!

    trust your guts

    Posted: 22 May 2020 03:38 AM PDT

I've been sitting on and off for maybe 3 years now.

Started once more 2 months ago, 10 minutes per day.

That's not a lot for me, but I wanted to start anew, feeling no bond whatsoever, just doing whatever I feel like doing. perhaps with added humility.

So in the past month that became 15, then 20.

This morning, I felt like doing 25. Thought I wasn't quite sure, and decided for a compromising 22 minutes.

Then I say F*ck it, if my instinct tells me 25 I'll just go with it. I realised how afraid I was of my own failure, and set out to trust myself and the process with it.

As I meditate, roughly 5 mins. before the end of the practice, I start getting impatient.

Then, I remember. I can keep trusting myself, and the process. Just the same way as I did in the moment when I set the timer. Comfort arose from trust, and trust from comfort.

The resulting feeling was bliss. A renewed sense of gratitude towards myself. Silence

Enjoy your journey fellow explorers :)

    Using anchor words with breathing

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:27 AM PDT

    Hi,

I've been meditating for about 3-6 months, currently at the point of 30-40 minutes most days. I find focusing on breathing a good technique for me, however I've found that when my mind strays, I can help refocus it best by returning to the same single word in my mind. I feel a little like this is combining the breath and mantra technique, however, I only "say" the word once to myself, until the next time I stray, otherwise I just focus on breath.

I wondered if anyone else does this, or if for any reason I shouldn't be doing this?

    Thank you

Try to breathe through your ears. Not literally but the trying of it will centre your attention

    Posted: 22 May 2020 06:08 PM PDT

    You'll observe that this

    • automated your breath

    • put a subtle peace and smile on your face

    • centered you and also focused you in your pineal or third eye area

    • your eyes are automatically effortlessly slightly open

Tips to Meditate Effectively and Focus Better

    Posted: 22 May 2020 11:36 PM PDT

There are instances in life where you experience not very positive approximately life, doubt your selections, and seem confused about the future. For those who do not catch themselves in advance, instances come to be in long-term consequences like anxiety, depression, back-ache, and other bodily tissues. The guidance then takes longer to reach them and higher living seems rubbish or not possible from their perspective.

Any poor idea or poor emotion is an indicator which you have misplaced your connection. The earlier you realize and reconnect, the better it's far for you. We all are related to every other through consciousness/energy/God or any other name you wish to name it. This connection is essential for survival. Sometimes whilst we have a look at something or revel in some sort of loss, the connection is thinned out for some time and generally receives reconnected whilst things/thoughts/feelings change.

Meditation is one of the approaches of reconnecting and making the relationship stronger. When you are linked, you experience energized, enthusiastic for life, feel love for others and commonly you are a superb person. You can understand others' situations and are willing to help. More connected you stay, the higher your personality becomes. Meditating each day is one of the quality practices of a hit person. But is meditation viable at this age?

Meditation may be as short as 2 minutes and maybe longer than 2 hours. Given beneath are a few pointers that may be beneficial.

    1. Start Early

The first-class time to meditate is as quickly as you wake up. Yes you want to get on with your day, however, 1-2 mins in your bed before you get on together with your day will now not cause plenty of harm. Before you get up, close your eyes for 1-2 minutes and just breathe.

    1. Your Breath is the Key

Whenever you feel confused at some point in the day or while you want to meditate, start together with your breath. Focus on your inhalation and exhalation for a few breaths. Close your eyes and just breathe normally. See the difference. It doesn't take long, attempt it.

    1. Your thoughts are guests

The most asked query is what to do with the thoughts that come whilst we meditate. Your minds are like your guests within the house, they're meant to leave right. Watch the mind come and go. Don't exit with them. You live in your house.

    1. Don't punish yourself for now not doing it

When you have made a recurring meditation, there will be the time while you are not able to comply with it. Don't get mad at yourself for this. Let it go, there may be the next day to practice. Don't live in the past, look ahead for a subsequent second to meditate.

    1. Don't expect

Let yourself free whilst meditating. Don't count on any particular revel in all through meditation. You will be amazed at what is going to come. Just revel in the nothingness

I hope the pointers are useful to you. You can touch us anytime to help you meditate. We love you to stay linked to your source. Don't forget to check out the unfastened restoration and meditation classes at The Vitality Cafe.

I believe i have just reached nirvanna/spiritual enlightenment

    Posted: 22 May 2020 01:19 PM PDT

TL:DR i have experienced a profoune ecstasy, fully body orgasm which semed that lasted forever, with experience of losing ego and entering a state where everything was white. For a brief period i felt like i was dying and then reached heaven.

This experience has just happened to me about half an hour ago. I have finally able to put my toughts into somewhere, as for a while i couldnt talk nor comprehend what had just happened.

I was reading Osho's Awarness book. Decided to meditate before sleeping, and really focus on my breath, as my last sessions werent very satisfying.

Everything went like normal. 3 big deep, slow breaths. Let the body stabilize the breathing and follow it. Mind starts working and toughts arise, i persist in focusing on breathing. For a while it seemed hard, then i gave my full attention to the breathing, every step of it.

I slowly started feeling my whole body, but it was more of an aura around it. Paired that with attention on breathing, everything became very clear. I started having an erection and a little feeling of bliss.

This was the first wave. I had had this feeling before, several times, but never had a chance to go beyond it. This time persisted on doing it again.

Once again, the feeling of aura and breathing was there. This time the wave came fast and much stronger. My breathing became extremelly deep and slow, to the point where i was not breathing for a while, at all. My heart rate went up, i felt my heart pumping in my throat. I still havent breathen out. I felt like i was about to die. I exhaled slowly and inhaled deeply, the feelings elavated. I have reached pure ecstasy, for a moment i opened my eyes and there were rolling back into my skull. I had a huge erection, and a full body orgasm that was stroger than anything ever experienced, even MDMA peak. I was barely concious, yet i was aware. It was pure clear, nothingness.

When i descendend from this feeling my heart was still pounding. My body was trembling as if i was extremelly cold. I tried to focus again but couldnt because of the shaking, then opened my eyes.

    What did i experience?

Feeling uncomfortable when taking deep breaths.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:39 AM PDT

Whenever I sit down to do meditation I always have shallow breath. I try to take deep breaths but it makes me so uncomfortable so thats why I return to shallow breathing. Another problem with deep breaths is that it makes my breathing controlled and unnatural. I am ok with shallow breathing but then I cant feel the sensation of breath at my nose. Is there any alternative method that would work for me?

    Hollow State

    Posted: 22 May 2020 01:04 PM PDT

Hey all. Looking for some insight into what happens to me when I get into a very deep state of meditation. So I've been meditating for about 6 months now everyday for 1-2 hours a day. First couple months was like a honeymoon period where I was gaining all these insights and my mindset changed significantly. Then I hit dullness/bordem during my sessions so I almost fell off my practice. But I trusted this was just a plateau and carried on.

Once I broke through this plateau I started reaching these "hollow states." It was a state of complete emptiness yet clarity. It was if my focus was completely single pointed and I was accessing and instructing my subconscious. The voice inside my head was so clear and pure. While I'm here I have this complete detachment from the outside world. I live in a house with many others who are very active and loud and they don't even exist when I'm there. I feel completely balanced emotionally speaking. And my spirit feels completely liberated.

Can anyone clarify what I'm experiencing? Thanks in advance.

    Meditation to beat addiction!

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:23 AM PDT

    Namaste,

So I've been hooked on PMO, which is Porn Masturbation Orgasm for those who don't know. Anyways, in order to learn more about myself, reduce my anxiety, and learn to control my impulses, I have recently tried doing meditation. The way I do is to sit up on a couch or in a lotus position, set a timer for 10-15 minutes, and focus on my breath. Somedays are easier but other days my mind wanders off. Days where my urges to watch porn or masturbate, I feel like my head is spinning or theres a another entity that has hijacked my body. I guess my question is, are there any of you that have used meditation to beat PMO addiction? If so, how did you do it? And what feels different now from before?

    Thank you in advanced!

    Had an amazing sessiom!

    Posted: 23 May 2020 12:01 AM PDT

After doing my pre-bed routine (i.e. brushing teeth, flossing, and washing face) I decided to do some lighy stretching to get me physically and mentally ready for bed. Well stretching lead into meditation and it was a good and solid 5-10min of breath control, listening to my surroundings, and ignoring the restlessness. This session was by fat one of my best!

    Feeling scattered

    Posted: 22 May 2020 10:53 PM PDT

Meditation made me realise that there are really a lot of useless thoughts running in my mind. I think so far every thought that i have acted on has resulted in a sub par fragmented life.

I see myself in different stages, as a son, as a lover, as a depressed person , as a caring person, as a needy person, as a lonely person, as a scared person, as a worrisome person etc

I started this journey while reading the unthethered soul - but i am not sure how to mature as a person through meditation.

    Thoughts ?

    Update on meditation journey

    Posted: 22 May 2020 10:38 PM PDT

Many months after my last post here regarding my beautiful journey, things are still flat shit.

After having given up on meditation, I've abandoned any sessions and just sit or lay silent and do nothing for 10 minutes every other day.

If I focus on my breath and even dare try to count ANY of my breaths, I will eventually physically require to take an extra deep breath using both my diaphragm and my chest rather than just the former.

Question: How is it possible to control one's breathing when controlling one's breathing leads to retarded, uncomfortable breathing? This is especially in regards to holding your breath. If I hold my breath for even 2 seconds I WILL need an extra, anxiety chest inhale to make up for lost air for holding it like an asshole for no reason. How is the 4-7-8 technique even possible!?!

    Thanks.

Meditating for the last two years - Worried I'm not making progress

    Posted: 22 May 2020 06:52 AM PDT

I've been using the headspace app on and off for the last two years to meditate. My longest period of using it to meditate on a near-daily basis is around six months. At the same time, I've also gone months without meditating as well.

At the moment I'm back to meditating every day and have been doing so for the last two months. One concern I have is I'm not sure I'm making progress. I know that meditation is not something you would necessarily improve in the same way as other activities however I would still expect to feel like I'm improving, particularly as I've been doing it on and off for two years.

I feel like my mind is still prone to wander nearly as much as when I started and I also still get distracted and pulled away by thoughts frequently when meditating. I also have never really had a session where my mind has just been still and I've barely had any distracting thoughts or more importantly got distracted and carried away by them. I'm also quite an anxious person but can't say I've really seen an improvement in my anxiety levels over the last two years.

It's still something I enjoy doing and fully aware that the benefits may take a long time to become apparent but any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated.

Can’t tell if this is making me feel better or worse right now :/ advice?

    Posted: 22 May 2020 10:04 PM PDT

I've been meditating for a few years now, but recently I've been committing more to it, especially with this virus going on. I meditate at around noon for 25 minutes, then 15-20 minutes at the end of the day.

I usually suffer from some form of depersonalization, which recently has actually gotten quite better. However, it seems like some form of depression has arisen in place of it. Granted, it's only been since yesterday. I've always had anxiety, but this depression has been a bit more intense. I feel much more emotionally sensitive. Staying around the house so much and being makes it harder to feel motivated, so I'm sure that doesn't help. When I do meditate, all these worrisome thoughts come at me, and it's difficult not to ruminate. I've read that one reason why using the breath as an anchor is so important is because it keeps you from indulging in these cycles and making them much, much worse.

I'm not sure, it's just this sort of sensitive and tender feeling I have in my head. Everyone I know who meditates seems much, much happier and at peace than the average person, so it feels ridiculous to think that meditating is actually HURTING me. Still, it can get pretty intense, just sitting there and staring my thoughts in the face.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I've felt this sensitivity and uneasiness before, particularly after a psychedelic experience I had over a year ago. Maybe not quite to that extent. Maybe I've unearthed some feelings I kept inside that I'll just have to sit through and continue to use the breath as an anchor? Or maybe I should cool it on meditation for a while and do it less? Or maybe I'm overthinking it? After all, I've only had this feeling for hardly two days. And in some way, I do feel like I'm growing. To be honest, I'm just kind of scared of the negative thoughts. I don't want them to grow beyond something I can manage

Much love to anyone who can give insight ❤️❤️❤️

    Self-guided meditation retreat. Any suggestions?

    Posted: 22 May 2020 09:59 PM PDT

Next week I'll be heading to a family member's cottage and will be doing a solo 6-7 day meditation retreat. I was going to follow a similar schedule as a Vipassana meditation retreat. Keeping all devices off and only meditating, journaling, yoga, walking, and swimming.

I've been practicing for almost 2 years but only for 10-30 minute sessions, usually guided. I've been practicing yoga for about 8 years intermittently. I'm at a point in my life where I really need to connect with myself and figure out what I want out of life.

Any suggestions from people who've done their own meditation retreat? Thank you!

    Edit: a word
