[COMP] Legs up legs. Partner recovery post ascending Asgard Pass in The Enchantments.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 04:20 PM PDT

I bought my first yoga mat! I was wondering since this is such a pricey mat, should I just keep this at home or is it okay to use outdoors like on grass, sand or concrete?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:41 AM PDT

Started doing yoga consistently for a couple weeks, and my running pace has gotten significant better. Coincidence?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 06:58 PM PDT

I've been running consistently for years, I'm not that good (I've got a weight lifter's build) but I enjoy it and need to keep my run times down for work. Started using the down dog app about 5 times a week for two or three weeks now and my running times have gotten better. Haven't changed anything else, still weigh the same, still eat the same, and still do all the same workouts, but my easy cruise speed has gone from 9 minutes per mile to eight. I feel like it's easier to move my legs and my form is more fluid, and I credit it to yoga. Thanks yoga

    Experiences/opinions on this particular course?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:25 PM PDT

Hey! Hope you having a nice day.

I'm interested in joing this course which costs 1.500$. But I'm afraid it won't be worth it.

So I am here to ask you more opinions on this school and the course:

This is the school -> http://www.svyasa.edu.in/index.html

And this is the course -> http://www.svyasa.edu.in/pdf/YIC3%20copy.jpg

    The syllabus:

    • Introduction to Yoga and its Streams
    • Life and Message of Spiritual Masters & Indian Culture
    • Report Writing & Presentation
    • Kriyā, Āsana, Prāṇāyāma, Dhyāna – Practice & Presentation
    • Teaching Techniques - Worksheet Writing & Presentation
    • Karma Yoga, Maitri Milana, Kīrtana, Krīḍa Yoga & Ānanda Sabhā

I just want to learn yoga and have some cool experiences with it and more important learn more about the mind. I can't go to an ashram now so I think the online course will be an good idea but I'm afraid the cost is too high for the content.

Can you give me some help an opinion?

Studio changed it's name on mindbody, now the generic mindbody app claims the business does not exist?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 06:31 PM PDT

Mindbody says everything is ok on their end.

But clients can't find our new business name on mindbody and they're being told that their passes they paid for are to a non-existent yoga studio.

Obviously this is causing a lot of confusion and a poor client experience.

Has anybody else changed the name of their studio on mindbody and experienced something similar?

    Thank you!

Legality and Ethics with Yoga Social Media Posts

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 01:56 PM PDT

Certified Yoga Teachers out there... I have a public Instagram page I use to periodically document my yoga practice, mainly for personal use and benefit.

In the past my content has mostly stayed within the bounds of personal reflection and surface level yogic education like Sanskrit names for poses.

I am not a certified yoga instructor (though I'd like to be and plan to be). Are there legal or ethical conflicts with sharing some of my deeper knowledge regarding tips for correct form or anatomy in future posts on my page?

An Energy Meditation to use during Yoga

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 08:33 AM PDT

This meditation is excellent for beginners as it helps to give one a feel for energy. This meditation also strengthens the aura when done regularly.

    1. Begin by relaxing your entire body. The deeper the trance, the more effective, but this meditation can be done at any time and a trance is not necessary.

    2. Breath in and at the same time, draw in energy from all sides of your body, front, back, top of your head and bottom of your feet. For beginners, you should visualize white brilliant light, like the sun. Working with colors is more advanced and most effective when you are a bit more experienced.

    3. Exhale and visualize the energy expanding your aura

    4. Breathe in again and visualize the energy getting brighter and more powerful, radiating from your entire being.

    5. Exhale again and visualize the energy expanding your aura, and the center of your body shining brilliantly like the sun.

    6. Repeat this several times, each time visualizing the energy becomeing brighter and brighter as it increases in intensity.

When working with colors, visualize the color becoming more and more powerful and vibrant. You will notice each color has a different feel to it. Colors can be used to attract according to their nature.

You can also breathe in energy from the front and back sides of your body at the same time to meet in the middle, then do the sides and top and bottom. After this, let your aura expand outwards.

With this meditation, you can also practice expanding and contracting your aura.

Any recommendations for decent supportive sports bras for yoga?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 03:23 PM PDT

My bust is 32DD, not crazy big by any standards but if I go for a typical S/M/L size the band is either way too big or my boobs are totally smooshed. I would typically try one on in a store but because of cvirus that's not really an option right now. Any recommendations would be so appreciated! Thank you!

I want to do yoga, but my hands don't.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:46 AM PDT

Help! I really want to do yoga more consistently, but I have sensitive nerves in my hands and feet so when they are under pressure for too long my fingers and toes go numb/tingly which can last weeks. Will using yoga blocks help to keep the pressure off my hands so I can worry less about numbness? Thanks!!

I am really excited about the fact that I can get a bit into this pose. However, I struggle with stretching out my legs. Do you have tips? For example, using props or trying an adjusted pose first.

    Learning New Yoga Poses

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 01:26 PM PDT

I've been using Downdog for about 6-7 weeks. I do yoga every day. I've started to become more interested in more "advanced" yoga poses (specifically a headstand, handstand, and crow pose), but where I am in Downdog doesnt teach those, and I've heard it doesnt teach those kind of poses. Is there another app, or website that teaches poses and workouts to build up to these poses?

Shoulder stand, dropping feet to ground behind me - hard to breathe

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:50 AM PDT

Hi, relative newbie here. Practising online in group class, but forgot to ask my teacher this question at end of class. Will ask her next time if no answer, but...

We did a move where we went to shoulder stand (so we were basically lying on the back of our head and neck) and raised our legs straight up. Then we allowed our legs to go further, over our head and have our toes touch the floor behind our head.

It's a move I have done before and normally I can cope, though my breathing is very shallow when in the pose. But today I just couldn't breathe at all, I felt panic welling up inside me and immediately exited the pose.

So... is this a common reaction? Any siggestions for how to breathe more easily in this pose?

Alo warrior mat: top layer bubbling/rippling?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 06:20 AM PDT

So I've mentioned on this sub several times about how much I love my Alo warrior mat that I got a couple of years ago. I recently noticed that there's a 3 inch x 3 inch area on the surface where it appears the top layer is bunching/bubbling/rippling and has pulled up from the lower layers. It doesn't impact practice (other than being slightly distracting if I feel it), but I've never seen this happen on a mat and I want to keep it from spreading or happening elsewhere. I contacted Alo and initially the person I spoke to was concerned because she had never heard of that before, but she had no idea what was going on and directed me to email pictures. I emailed pictures to Alo and received a very standard "sorry your purchase is not what you want! We can't do anything for you!" So that wasn't helpful. This mat has only ever been stored and used on hardwood floor in an air conditioned room, out of direct sunlight. Any clues about what might have happened?

    Headaches during Forward Fold/Sun Salutation

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 11:54 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I (28M) have been doing yoga off and on for a few years now, but there is one thing that drives me nuts- forward folds or anything like it (downward dog into a mountain pose, etc). Unless I go incredibly slow, like 3-4 poses behind everyone else, I always get a horrible headache about 5 seconds after I come up to stand. I've tried rolling up slowly, one vertebrae at a time. Still headache. It feels like a concentrated migraine where I have to shut my eyes and stop for a few seconds until it passes.

Here's the weird thing: I've practiced martial arts for 20 years, and I always warm up by touching my toes followed by a back bend, then touching my toes again. No headache. It only happens during yoga.

Now, I understand that everyone has a different yoga practice, and I've been very accepting of my needs and I just skip the transitions that I know are going to cause a headache. However, I feel like I'm missing out because I actually really like Sun Salutation and I want to do it all the way through. I also am in the process of getting my teacher certification and I don't want to ask students to do something I wouldn't do. There's also the part of me that wants to figure out the cause so I can gently work through it instead of avoiding it.

    Any advice?

Update: I took a more intense than usual flow class today, and very little headache. It was still there but way less intense. For more info, it's a piercing pain that comes from behind my eyebrows and turns into a blinding headache. It's possible that as I'm doing more yoga (I've never had a set schedule where I practice 3x/week before) my body's getting used to it. I've also been working on more breathing and meditation techniques so it's possible I'm unblocking some path that was affecting me before. Thank you to everyone for your help! I'm loving being part of the yoga community.

[COMP]Hello friends! Are these both considered Kurmasana? Also, please offer critique if you have it. I'm a novice. Thank you!!
