    Nausea

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 04:59 PM PDT

I was wondering if anyone else experiences this. When I'm really tight and especially if I took some time off from yoga, I get a pang of nausea in a deep stretch. Especially opening the backs of the legs. Just curious if anyone else gets it!

I just did my first beginner session of yoga but struggled to do most of it. Is there something that I should be doing before "beginner" level?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:38 AM PDT

Title basically says it. I've never been flexible and currently I'm about 60-70 lbs overweight (I'm about 6'2" 270) and beside poses like table I struggle to do anything else. I can't sit cross legged because it hurts in my hips and thighs. I can't reach even halfway down my shin without bending my knees.

Is there anything that is like "super remedial beginner yoga for people who basically can't do it?" I dream of the day I can get through some of these sessions and feel like I was actually able to perform them well and feel good about myself at the end instead of "wow I've been way to lazy and inflexible forever."

    Thanks for reading :)

Poses to Help with the Rona?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 08:02 PM PDT

A coworker tested positive yesterday, and my test results (taken today) will likely come back positive at the end of the week. I've been reading about various breathing exercises to help loosen the virus/mucus from the lungs, and I remember my yoga instructor talking about how various poses help drain the lymphatic system and improve breathing. I was wondering if there are any yoga poses that someone with coronavirus could do to help alleviate symptoms.

One of the symptoms I'm finding most difficult to deal with is the fatigue. I haven't been to my yoga class in over a week, and although live videos are posted in our Facebook group, I can't find the strength to even spread out my mat. Lightheadedness and difficulty breathing are also major blockers to practicing. Any thoughts? Tips, tricks, secret potion recipes? This SUCKS.

Very interested in the academic aspect of yoga, but I have no idea where to start.

There is a guy named Dr. Kanojia who I have recently discovered. He is a psychiatrist, but before he became a psychiatrist he went to India to learn yoga and meditation in a monastery. He talked about the different teachings like Samskara which I found absolutely fascinating. I want to learn the physical aspect of yoga, but I also really want to learn about these different teachings. I don't know how realistic it is for me, a 20 year old white dude to go to a monastery in India to learn from a guru, especially with Corona going around, but I still want to find a teacher to learn from. Any help is really appreciated.

Core - How to strengthen, problem with engaging during practice

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 04:30 AM PDT

    Hi all!

During my not-so-long yoga journey, I have been struggling with engaging and strengthening my core. I have been facing a similar problem when I used to do weight lifting. How do you strengthen your core? Do you do separate exercises or rely on the progression of yoga poses? Any tips?

    Thank you in advance!

Personal yoga instructors, how have you taught during this pandemic?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 10:39 PM PDT

I took a year off when my life got a little tuff and when I finally felt like it was right for me, boom, COVID hit the US and all this mess happened. Now that a little bit has calmed down and a few things are opening back up, has anyone started private in person classes again? If so what kind of protective things have you done? I am not the best instructor when I'm not in person but I miss teaching and am in need of some advice.

Running just before a yoga class?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:47 AM PDT

    Hello,

I've been practicing yoga for 4 times a week and I run twice a week for 30 min. I usually do one type of practice a day and one full day rest per week

Lately I have a hard time finding time for those runs, so I've been thinking about running to the yoga class, so probably 30 min run and then 75 min yoga class twice a week and twice a week a 75 min class.

What are your thoughts about this? Is it too much for the body? Are there downsides to this?

    Thanks
