Posted: 05 Aug 2020 07:31 AM PDT Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any good exercises or classes online that you'd recommend for increasing flexibility? I'm especially tight with hamstrings and hips and have been wanting to find something I can work on daily Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Aug 2020 10:21 AM PDT Hello, I'm yoga teacher who mostly teaches vinyasa and restorative. I have someone who is interested in a session with me that can only move his arm and head. I was thinking about doing some breathing exercises, range of motion stuff for his arm, and some facial expression exercises. Does anyone have any tips or advice about this? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Yoga workouts for my Army Unit Posted: 05 Aug 2020 02:41 PM PDT From what I get from my peers in the military, the US Army is advocating a more holistic approach to physical fitness. I would like to incorporate a week in my section's physical fitness plan once a month to focus on recovery and flexibility, as I am prone to injury in my legs like stress fractures from overwork. What I would like to do is include a day or two in this week to include yoga. I did some research and feel it would highly beneficial. I have seen where it seems to improve sleep among military members, reduce feelings associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), such as rage, anxiety, and emotional reactivity, and treat depression and chronic pain. My problem is, I am not a yoga expert and do not have the money to buy classes for my entire section. Is there some sort of program, app, etc that I can use to provide my section with the workouts? I am looking for about hour long workouts. I can bring in my computer to allow them to watch as we do. Just do not know where to go. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:28 PM PDT I am almost 4 into my practice (yes, a newbie here) and the amazing things people post in this subreddit just make me swoon in awe. How did you start? How did you practice? Was it hard? I have so many questions. By the way, I've been using this app called 'Keep Yoga', it has an intermediate program for core sculpting which is a week long. I've been repeating that over and over again so far. [link] [comments]
5 days into yoga. Does the pain go away? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:41 PM PDT I'm totally 100% new to yoga. I used to be somewhat active, but that was maybe 15 years ago lmao. Basically, I fractured a vertebrae years ago, maybe around 15 ywars or so, not exactly sure when or how I did it, but my doctor told me I should do yoga to help with my hip pain(related to the vertebrae). I never got around to it until the beginning of this month. I'm doing this 30 day yoga challenge with Kassandra (YouTube). She seems pretty good and I'm enjoying it, but my hips are killing me. I've stayed away from certain physical activity because I know what will mess up my hips again or not, and when they get bad, it's bad, I can barely get up out of a couch or chair or put any pressure on that hip at all unless I crack it, which doesn't always happen. I haven't had this pain in years because I found out it only happens when I'm being active in certain ways. But I really think if I keep on with yoga, maybe the pain will come back, but if I keep on with it, maybe it will go away. Also I'm not flexible at all, but surprisingly after just 5 days, I'm already getting close to touching my toes when bending down and not bending the knees. On day 1 I could only go down maybe a foot or so from the ground, and now on day 5 I'm like 5-6 inches from the ground lol I think that's pretty crazy Does anyone have any similar experiences with something like this? I guess I'm going to see how it goes by the end of this month, I just really hope the pain goes away for good lol [link] [comments]
| what is the process of getting a yoga alliance certification like? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 12:26 PM PDT i've been looking into it as of late, as i adore yoga and want to share that with others through instruction. how long does it generally take, how much does it cost, etc. i'd like to do it in person, so i'll likely wait until covid dies down more, but i was curious as to the logistics of it. thank you, and namaste! | Breath of Fire (Kapalabhati) - Science behind it Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:58 PM PDT I've tried to research what causes all the benefits of this breathing technique but I can't find that source scientific papers. Has anyone collected resources on Kapalabhati and have some worth sharing? Also curious of which positive physical/Mental changes have resulted in your practice. I see tons of positive claims but have only found one scientific paper with proof of just a lowered HR and BP and sample sizes are quite small. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:45 PM PDT Hello yogis! Anyone here back to practice in a studio? I'm a hot yoga junkie and I've been to a few classes recently. This last one I took though there definitely were more people and I got a little anxious. Mats are 6ft apart, you have to bring your mats and props, you have to wash/sanitize hands before class, wear mask into class but not during, and only closed mouth breaths. Not everyone follows that last one though. Just curious to see what everyone's experience has been that has ventured back into a studio. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:33 AM PDT Hi! Any recommendations for shoes/foot coverings that won't slip on my mat and can fit an orthotic insert? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 10:05 AM PDT My daughter picked out a yoga mat (she's 4) and it's a folding one. I know there's a good chance she'll want to take it with us again this weekend and if I can I'd like to make her her own little bag for it. I can't, however, seem to find great ideas for the bag. Just a tote? Some sort of closure? I made myself one but I have one that rolls up. Do you having a folding mat? Do you have a bag you like for it? Let me know please! [link] [comments]
"One vertebrae" means "one bones" Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:56 PM PDT My fun hobbies include correcting people's grammar, and sometimes yoga. Vertebra is a singular. Enjoy your day! [link] [comments]
Has anyone hosted and/or been to either a full moon evening or women’s circle? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:43 PM PDT I keep seeing events pop up on instagram and Facebook (but I haven't gone to any because of covid). These tend to usually have some yoga component but I'm just curious about how the rest are run generally and what the intention behind it is? Even better would be if someone knew if any that are run over zoom etc? [link] [comments]
