Is it normal to be fairly inflexible in the morning?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 05:56 PM PDT

Im a 6'4 male. Been doing a toe touching routine for about 5 weeks now. I can finally touch my toes after a routine but in the mornings after waking up I am basically back to where I began (about the length of my hand away from my toes). I usually sleep on my back.

    Is stretching an exercise?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 10:38 PM PDT

I hear many people say "Stretching isn't exercise, it's just a warm up," or "Stretching isn't real exercise." During gym, we never do any sort of flexibility exercise, they only make us run and do strength like pushups and squats. I want to get better at contortion so I stretch for long periods of times every week, and although some of the stretches feel uncomfortable, I definitely don't feel nearly as sweaty or tired as I would from running or doing pushups. I'm really curious about this, because I always feel flexibility is always overlooked when it comes to physical activity. 😅

Why are my legs always bent?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 09:53 PM PDT

Hello, this is my first post here. I wasn't sure what other page I should ask this, but this seemed like the most appropriate place. I've always noticed that my legs are bent, like I'm slightly squatting. I can't fully extend then so that they're completely straight and I don't understand why. This also happens while sitting. I also have a few very tight/hard tendons on the side of my leg that seem to really protrude out. I think one of them is the IT band? I don't know why it's sticking out so much and why it's hard, but does anyone have any info on these two concerns of mine? Any help would be really appreciated :)

Can't sit on heels, want to learn to stretch it

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 01:19 AM PDT

    Hey there :)

Don't know if this is the right place to post or to ask for help or if I'm oblivious to the answer. But let me explain the situation. For Hakkoryu (a form of jujutsu based on self-defense) we need to sit on our heels. But I just can't for more than a few seconds. So after giving up once trying to find a solution I'm trying again.

Most of the stuff I find is people with knee problems. Not being able to bend their knees fully, but that's not the issue for me. Or perhaps not the biggest issue. The issue for me is in the heels/feet. I can't seem to be able to fully bend them so they're flat on the ground. I can sit on my heels with my toes curled. But obviously putting so much pressure on the toes makes it uncomfortable quickly enough as well.

I can add that I've had a cartilage injury to me knee, but as the issue is with my heels I don't think that would matter too much.

Are there any exercises to stretch the heel to be able to comfortably sit on my heels or is the problem something else entirely? Any help is welcome, thanks in advance!

Is it possible to do this poses without having back flexibility? I mean just have a good quad, hip flexor, and shoulder flexibility.

    Pelvic tilt/hip mobility help

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 10:46 AM PDT

Hello everyone! New around here and love the content I've seen so far! As the title says I am trying to find some good stretches for pelvic tilt. I work a job where I am sitting most of the day and it shows for sure. I have done some basic stretches to try and relieve some of the pain and stiffness. I am wondering if anyone has anything that helped them with the same issue. Thanks in advance!
