My first ever online yoga attempt Posted: 07 Sep 2020 09:09 AM PDT From the age of around 4 until 17 I attended ballet classes at a dance school close to me, and it has been a very big part of my life. Due to Covid and important exams coming up at the end of my last year at school, I have made the incredibly hard decision to stop ballet to focus on my studies. Today I tried yoga for the first time from home. It has always been something I was interested in doing, though having so much time filled with dancing, I never had the incentive to do so. But I am super excited to start my yoga journey with a fresh mind, and it will hopefully help me on my way with what will be a difficult school year. Thankyou for all your inspiring posts and pictures on this sub that pushed me on my way to start. [link] [comments]
| How often are Manduka Pro mats on sale? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:11 PM PDT I've been wanting to buy a yoga mat for a while, ideally something I wouldn't need to replace for several years. Manduka Pro lites look perfect for my needs but I didn't want to buy one full price just to see them run a site sale a month later or anything like that. Black Friday? Cyber Monday perhaps? | Hands not fully flat on floor during low lunge Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:51 PM PDT Hello! I'm wondering if I can get a sense of if this a body-dimensions thing or a flexibility thing? When in low lunge, my knee is parallel to my body and touching my boobs, but my hands are not flat on the mat - they are a sort of fingers-and-knuckles flat with palms lifted. I also am NOWHERE near passing my leg under my body to low lunge from three legged dog. I have to reach back and sort of hoick it through. I've been practicing 20min daily for about 6mo, and am in good general shape. I can't really tell if this is a short-arms long-shins thing, or a flexibility thing, and if so, I don't know where I need to build flexibility. Has anyone had the same experience in their practice? Thanks!! [link] [comments] |
I'm becoming obsessed with yoga tbh, is 4 hours too much a day? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:31 AM PDT Hey all, I posted a while back asking about power yoga but it's turning into a bit of an obsession, is 4 hours too much? I've been doing this for the past 4 days after since upping it to 3 hours since my last post. I don't know if I'm overdoing it, so far I feel fine. I'm doing 2 hours of power and 2 hours of hatha a day. At this point I don't know if it's healthy or not. I'm not doing any other form of exercise. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:44 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you know how to not hyperextend you're elbows/how to know your form is right? I think I'm experiencing tennis elbow from hyperextending, but until I experienced this pain, I didn't even know my form was wrong. I've been practicing yoga daily for about a year now and yoga on and off for about 2 years prior and haven't experienced this before. However, I've been strength training more than usual, and I think that's brought on the pain. I'm careful to make sure my wrists/elbows are underneath my shoulders. Are there any other tips to know your form is correct/prevent hyperextending? I'd love any and all advice! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2020 07:59 AM PDT I've worn out my cheap 10€ May that I've been using for the past year, and am in the market for a new one. I've been researching the Jade/Manduka rivalry for while when another option showed up: vegan suede. A local teacher introduced me to the idea (she's using a vegan suede mat from a local company in BCN) but would love to hear from anyone else who's used one. How's the grip, any issues with breaking it in, etc. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT Trying to sit in thunderbolt pose kills my ankles. If I sat all the way back my ankles, they would definitely break right off. Any suggestions [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Sep 2020 08:08 AM PDT So I am fairly new to yoga and I was doing it really consistently... until I moved! The house I'm in now is mostly very soft carpet. My mat (which is a pretty cheap one) sticks to me instead of the floor and it makes it hard to focus and relax, and it makes the practice not enjoyable and so much more difficult. Any recommendations on how to make this easier for me would be very appreciative! I should also add that I don't have really any outdoor space to do it either (plus it's like 90+ degrees where I live everyday) [link] [comments]
