    An unexpected benefit of yoga?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 04:09 PM PDT

A little over a month ago I started doing yoga 30+ minutes every day, and have seen some improvements in strength and whatnot within my practice but only slightly. But today I think I may have noticed a positive change I wasn't expecting - usually after long walks, my whole body feels sore and tired, but today after about 8 miles of walking I came home with energy and no soreness. Has anyone else noticed these sorts of body changes with yoga?

    Routine vaccinations + yoga

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 05:51 PM PDT

This is probably one of the strangest questions that has ever been asked on this sub and probably one of the weirdest ones I've ever asked on Reddit, but I couldn't think of a more appropriate subreddit. Let me know if this is the wrong one.

So I'm a student currently in quarantine who needs to fulfill his PE credits. As a result, I'm enrolled in a (currently virtual) yoga class. It's called "Introduction to Yoga", if that helps at all. I'm not sure what type of yoga it is. Problem is, just because of the way my schedule works out I need to get a flu shot just a few hours before my class. I'm not concerned about the resulting soreness, but given that I have very little experience with yoga could doing some of the more active poses potentially cause pulled muscles, etc? I feel like it could cause considerable discomfort for example while planking at the very least. If that's the only issue though then I could probably explain to my teacher.

    Thanks for your help!

Is it ok for a yoga teacher to sleep with a student?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 08:53 PM PDT

I have found out that a yoga style founder and teacher trainer/meditation instructor at a Canadian studio has slept with dozens of his students. They are all of age and consensual but it seems manipulative and coercive to use your studio as a pick up spot, especially when they are younger women who look to you for guidance. Is there a consensus amongst teachers on this, or a standard code of practice?

Hip and low back openers for limited range of motion?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 09:08 AM PDT

Making it clear that I'm not looking for medical advice, but rather I'm looking for brainstorming and ideas from other yoga-doers.

I'm a few weeks out of a surgery and am finding I'm feeling stiff/tight in other areas due to my limited range of motion. I spend about 80% of my time in a brace that keeps my knee straight, and I can bear some load on my straight leg. Sleeping and sitting this way has made my low back and hips really tight. Any gentle hip and low back openers that can be done with a straight leg?
