Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:00 PM PDT Basically what the title says, I'm the least flexible person I know but want to start my yoga journey. I tried a yoga with adriene video today and realized I can barely do the poses due to this. For those of you who were stiff when starting out, how long did it take to become more flexible? And how much/often were you practicing? TIA! [link] [comments]

What's your opinion on Manduka mats? Favorite mat choice for 2020? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 03:15 PM PDT I'm starting new classes at a new studio and thought I would treat myself to a new mat. It's been years since I've really put investment into a new personal mat. I've been looking at the lists and reviews and my old favorite is a manduka mat and that is the top of the list ratings this year! Does anyone here have the manduka pro, Manduka pro light, of the manduka equal eko? How long would you say it took to break in and did you break it in naturally or using a salt wash? I've seen mixed feelings and testimonials of the pro about it being slippery but I've never experiences that before. Pros and cons? Or any other mats that are just your absolute fave! I just don't want to go above $250 [link] [comments]

Question about hot yoga + weed Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:42 PM PDT Hey yogis. So I'm a pretty regular stoner and I don't smoke before class or near my yoga clothes, but I smoke frequently enough that I'm paranoid that my odor is dank and stinking up the room when I sweat during hot yoga. I can't smell myself, but I was wondering if any of you had experiences with smelling weed in class and wanted to know if it affects your experience at all during class?? Basically, I would hate if it were harder for others to breathe because I smelled so strongly. TIA [link] [comments]
Why does my belly look bigger after practicing belly breathing exercises ? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 05:33 PM PDT So something I notice after practicing belly breathing exercises is that my belly pokes out. When I don't do belly breathing my stomach looks flat/ thin etc Is this normal and if so why does this happen ? [link] [comments]

| Posted: 23 Oct 2020 04:48 AM PDT I did yoga years ago while I was in the army, and in much better health. I want to get back into it, but its been so long I don't remember anything. I work out of town alot. Most of my time is spent in hotels across the country. Does anyone know of a good YouTube, or online class for bigger guys trying to get healthy again? | Could stretching incorrectly hurt me? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:40 AM PDT Good afternoon. I have been trying to incorporate more stretching into my daily routine because I think it could help with my chronic pain a lot. I don't practice any particular technique for yoga, I just move my body around and feel out different muscle groups and stretch them out with no particular technique. Is there any risk to moving certain muscles the wrong way or is it fine to just feel out the muscles and stretch them as long as you don't feel any severe pain? [link] [comments] |
A yoga instructor wants to learn & teach & grow!! Posted: 23 Oct 2020 09:14 AM PDT Hello ! I am a 500 hours YTT certified instructor but ... but that was 5 years back. I haven't practiced at all in last 2 years. I am looking for any instructor or anyone who is regular and good at yoga to practice with twice a day one hour each. I am from India just so that you know the zone. I can practice anytime before 8:30 am and after 6:45 pm. Since I also want to start teaching, I can create flows too! We can start studying physiology too ( if that's your thing ) I am looking for something long term. Now, I am new here and I don't know if I am gonna find anyone but if you read this, wish me luck :) [link] [comments]
Some advice from those more experienced Posted: 23 Oct 2020 03:24 AM PDT So I'm just about to commit to purchasing a pack of 10 classes from a wellness studio - I'm looking to learn Yoga. My first experience with Yoga was in the months of June/July 2020, where I did an online program with Art of Living for International Yoga Day and then learnt the Sudarshan Kriya. I did practise in July, however, I just stopped from August. So the studio I have linked has sessions in person while Art of Living is still online. I'm unsure whether I should give my online program instructor a call, to discuss a regular program he would recommend, or just go ahead with this studio? I want things to be simple - the essence of Yoga, the bells and whistles are unnecessary. [link] [comments]
