[COMP] I've been trying to get into headstand by lifting my feet off the ground but I haven't been able to. I can, however, from headstand touch the ground with my toes and get back up. Anyone has any tips on how to learn to do this to get into headstand?

I want to get into yoga and have done some research and narrowed it down to these two mats but could not find many comparisons between the two, which mat would recommend or do you have other suggestions?

    Cross legged help

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 06:01 AM PDT

I have been practicing for a solid three months now almost daily and I still can't really sit comfortable upright in a simple cross legged sitting position. My knees want to be up and I feel like I'm hunched over a bit.

I had asked here before and gotten the brilliant suggestion to sit on a blanket or a block and it does help, but I hoping to get some suggestions for a yin yoga or what I would want to target to help get more flexy here. Hips?

Also 2nd question (sorry I'm a noob), if I'm trying to do a side bend in a seated crossed leg position, would I still want to practice this while sitting on the blanket?

    TIA

Inversion Balances from an an-home amateur.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 09:23 AM PDT

Hi! I've always loved yoga and would take random classes here or there, but since quarantine I've really fell in love with the practice and have done it almost daily! I'm looking for advice on how to try inversions at home, or if I even should! I want to start working towards head/hand stands but without an actual teacher, I'm wondering if I'll be able to get it right.

Also looking for tips on how to start preparing and strengthening for inversion poses? Any advice is appreciated!

    Have a great day!

    Power yoga teachers/channels

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 02:56 AM PDT

I work out by lifting weights a few days a week. On the days in between I sometimes like to do a good power yoga session. I'm looking for teachers/channels that specialize in this. I'm looking for 45 min to 1 hour long sessions intermediate to advanced level. I've been trying Cat Meffan lately she has great stuff, so looking for similar things.

It seems like this niche is tough to find on YouTube, if I was better I'd consider starting a channel focused on this.

    Suggestions for Practice on carpet?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 06:25 AM PDT

I recently moved into my first home and have an extra room that I've been able to designate as a yoga room! Beyond excited about this but there is one problem. The space has carpet that is kind of cushy. I'm used to practicing on a firmer surface and I've noticed my wrists seem to not like the carpet so much. I do plan to trade this out for laminate in the future, but I'm not sure when I'll have the funds to make the update. I am concerned that my progress will suffer and there is a potential for injury.

Any suggestions on how to work with this surface for now?

To r/yoga i pleaded. Help is really needed.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 12:51 AM PDT

Hi Can anybody help me? I never did yoga, and I'm interested in starting. The thing is, I am really physically active. I workout 10-12 times a week (kickboxing classes/hard sparing/running/kb workouts) and I'm interested in finding something that can for starters make me less sore and more flexible. But I'm interested in maybe learning how to improve the flow of my body like in animal movements for example. Are there some good yt videos you'd recommend or maybe an app? Any help would be appreciated. Side note: I'm not a big person, I weigh about 70kg and I'm about 178cm HIGH, jk, but you get the point. Thanks in advance! Much love

I’ve grown 3 inches since I’ve started doing yoga about 7 months ago.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 06:18 AM PDT

I'm 25 so I'm pretty much done growing, I haven't grown in years prior to this.

My doctor says it happens and google says it's possible.

I wanted to know, has anyone else experienced this?

How much taller did you get?
