It looks like the Yoga Studio app allows custom routines but it is an expensive subscription at $70 a year for lots of features that I'm not remotely interested in. Is there an app (I don't mind it being paid but I don't like subscriptions) that's pared down on features but allows custom routines and logs them on a calendar?

    Hip Flexibility!

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 01:54 PM PST

    Hi there!

So I'm practicing up to Dwi Pada in the intermediate series (with a teacher). My right side is super tight in comparison to my left but it is also stronger.

But the strange thing is that I can put both legs behind my head but I can't put my knees all the down in Baddha Konasana. With the Janu sirsasanas and Marichyasanas my right side in particular is so tight. I also am very flexible in relation to back bends which I feel like also requires a good amount of hip flexibility.

I feel as though because of the imbalance, I've experienced some knee pain my left side but I've recently discovered to make sure I'm rotating my thighs instead of at the knee which has helped tremendously. Speaking of which, I'm modifying my left side so I'm definitely being careful with that!

Anyway, has anyone experienced anything similar? I feel like I'm not progressing with bringing the flexibility on my right side to be on par with my left so that my left side doesn't compensate as much. I'm not sure if it's maybe a nervous system thing either.

But do you have any recommendations, exercises, etc? I'm open to trying resistance bands exercises, weights or just anything that may have worked for you.

    Thanks ~

    Speed of practice in A+B

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 06:37 AM PST

I've just had a rewatch of the first 20 odd minutes of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUgtMaAZzW0&t=1323s and I am shocked by the pacing of their A+B, I was under the idea that every position in AB was 5 breaths (other than mountain) but they hold each pose for what looks like one breath and then only stay long in downward dog. They've got Sri K. Pattabhi Jois leading the whole thing.

Is the speed just because they are highly experienced practitioners or?
