    Train middle split or pancake?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:54 AM PST

So I'm working with Tom Merricks follow along routines as it prevents me from procrastinating during the routine and I'm going to do three/four days of front split training and three/four days middle split or pancake stretching.

My goal is really the pancake, but I'm wondering if I should be getting my legs nice and wide for the pancake, so I'm worried that a middle split may be a sort of prerequisite for the pancake.

With this in mind, which should I train for currently?

    Help with specific flexibility question.

I train BJJ. When I started I was about as flexible as a tree stump but through training I've slowly gotten better. But it's very common for people during class to sit on there feet, as in knees out front on the ground and feet in the back and you're sitting on your feet (I hope this makes sense lol). But I've never been able to do it. When I get into the position there is a lot of tightness in my knees and and even if I get down to my feet trying to sit up straight is impossible. Any chance anyone knows what I need to work on to get that range of motion?
