Ashtanga yoga: Private Ashtanga classes: What to look for in a good teacher? Other tips? |
| Private Ashtanga classes: What to look for in a good teacher? Other tips? Posted: 27 Jan 2021 09:49 AM PST Hi everyone! I am thinking of pursuing private Ashtanga classes and am looking for advice from anyone who has done the same. I only recently got into Ashtanga, but have over 10 years of yoga practice under my belt (not an expert but not a newbie). I am drawn to Ashtanga for its structured and disciplined framework. I like the focus of linking each breath with a single movement and tuning in to the minute details of a posture. I want to explore these areas deeper, as well as the other limbs of yoga that I am less familiar with. I am looking for an Ashtanga teacher that can also be my mentor and guide me through all the 8 limbs of an Ashtanga yoga practice. What should I look for in a good teacher/mentor? Is it worth taking private classes? Can I achieve what I want to achieve by participating in group Ashtanga classes (strictly online now due to COVID)? Advice, thoughts and shared experiences welcome! Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
