Here to share my shoulder opening. I aspire to get my armpits down to the ground someday. Some of my favorite poses that have helped get me here are thread the needle, puppy dog, child's and eagle (arms). Today was arm day so I cannot stress to you guys how good this felt!

    Looking for a pike/pancake/splits routine

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 01:46 AM PST

Looking for a good routine that can be performed 2-3x a week to gain all four of these flexibility goals.

Could be a follow along video or whatever!

I've been focusing on pike flexibility, but also want to gain on the pancake and splits.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hip Flexor Pain/Weakness

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:31 PM PST

Started at least 3 years ago when I was 26 (male). Much worse on by right side vs left

Pain was first most pronounced when I squatted, then it came when doing leg raises too. Resting it and stretching it constantly seem to do nothing. Since stretching does nothing, it seems like it is hip weakness. I tried to strengthen it by raising by knee above hips and holding it. This + stretching did nothing. So I just lived with it. Now, it has gotten bad enough that I must try to keep my legs straight at all times or I feel it. Even when sleeping, I can't have my legs bent or I feel it.

I went to pelvic floory therapy for a few months recently for a concurrent issue and explained my hip issue there as well. The PT's answer was to release tension in the quads/glutes by foamrolling. She also wanted me to do leg raises toes pointed up and quads flexed in order to divert strain from the hips to the quads. I do think these things helped, but it is more temporary relief.

Has anyone cured themselves with similar hip issues? I think I will focus now to build up glute, hamstrings, and core strength more. I know my glutes are very weak for sure. Work for anyone?

Can yoga poses be cherrypicked to have more than regular benefits of building immunity? What do you guys say?

Anyone else with super tight shoulders, upper arms, and chest? What helped with flexibility gains?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:26 PM PST

I have pretty strong arms which I can't ever remember honing in on in my life during stretching or yoga. I also have internally rotated shoulders (I think?) which is primarily anatomical instead of posture related (but v likely that as well) and it seems to contribute to the tightness because I cannot for the life of me find any way to stretch the muscles in my upper arm and around my shoulder. When I try to get a good stretch my joints get pulled out of place causing a bit of pain and I can only barely feel a stretch - if I go further my joints hurt. For example when I go into child's pose and out stretch my arms, I feel no stretch in the muscle, only a pressure in my shoulders which feels like they're extending out of their sockets.

If you were able to modify common stretches or discover new ones to deal with hyper mobile joints + super tight muscles in the shoulders and arms don't be shy tell me your secrets

I've read somewhere that stretching increases muscles strength too, so does that mean it can increase muscle mass as well?

    ATG Split Squat?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 12:39 PM PST

Hey! Mostly interested in flexibility for joint health and function, and I ran into some videos on youtube talking about using the ATG split squat as a way to both protect and strengthen your knees. Wondering if you guys had any opinions about the efficacy of these claims?

The video I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRtWAf3e7y0

Has anyone ever tried any of @theflexibull programs?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:07 AM PST

Just started following him on Instagram recently and he has a great combo of strength and flexibility. I'm looking into his "Actually Strong" program right now, but has anyone ever tried it or any of his other programs?

Good exercices using yoga strap/band ?

    Hi,

I have just order those kind of straps :

It's cheap, easy to store, so I thought why not 🤔

However I kinda struggle to find nice poses to do while using them.

My focus is to gain more flexibility, especially on my back and legs (I am training on splits)

How can they be used and with which poses to be beneficial ? What's your best Back/legs stretches exercices ? (especially using those bands)

    Thanks 🤗
