| yoga with adriene 30 day breath challenge Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:43 PM PST basically i just wanted to share how my experience has been going. the past year due to unfortunate health reasons it had been growing increasingly harder for me to make it to the mat either physically OR mentally until i just stopped all together around October. im 23 and i did ballet for 15 years so practice usually wasnt too challenging for me.... until it was. it felt horrible to stop but i felt i had to for a few different reasons. anyway i picked back up staring in January when Adriene started her New Year Challenge because i never unsubscribed from her Youtube or emails i knew it was happening. at the beginning of the month i had to start off even slower because i just had my gallbladder out but i felt GOOD to be back on the mat getting my belly breathing in. as the month went on and i started challenging myself more and more there would be days when i would fall out of my posture or could NOT, for the life of me, balance on one leg. this was frustrating on so many levels and at times i would have to stop the video to breathe and regain awareness but would start again. im just really thankful to be able to have this at home practice to be able to do that, i guess. things are getting easier as the days go on and that's awesome. if you're struggling i hope you know we're all in this together and this journey isnt about perfection. just practicing what makes you feel better. sending good vibes to everyone who read this <3 [link] [comments] |

| Is it true that your body stores emotion in your muscles? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 06:21 PM PST I have heard this a lot, especially in the hips. Old emotions can be released through various openers and postures. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:14 PM PST Hi there, I'm a beginner in yoga, and am struggling with a lot of neck pain due to tics that affect my shoulders and neck. It also probably doesn't help that I'm a college student with little access to an active lifestyle, but I try to practice yoga as much as possible (right now it's every day for 30 min.) Rolling my neck in circles like most practioners suggest really hurts my neck and stretching it side to side triggers my tics. I know this is a little niche, but can anyone recommend either a video or pose or resource that could help? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
| Thinking about becoming a teacher Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:33 PM PST I've been practicing yoga 2-5 times a week for the past 3 years. I used to be a rugby player for 8 years but recently have decided to retire due injuries. I'm looking for a new fitness goal and am thinking of becoming a yoga teacher through CorePowerYoga. Any teachers have tips for aspiring teachers? Pros/cons of teaching? [link] [comments] |
| Yoga Discord server for everyone Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:52 PM PST Hello, I recently made a discord server to save and organize information / resources / notes on yoga (I use discord like that). I wanted to extend an invite to anyone interested in joining and / or contributing. I use this server to save information and share yoga-related ideas and content, feel free to do the same. Of course, if people join, this server will also be a community space to discuss yoga practice, philosophy, spirituality, meditation, asana, posture / alignment, pranayama / breath-work, and whatever else related to the ancient and evolving physical, mental and spiritual practice of yoga. I think that could be great fun :) Feel free to join: https://discord.gg/q7tvzgTPut Peace and wholeness. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 10:28 AM PST I've practiced yoga casually for a few years, averaging a few times a week. In July, I sprained my wrist while picking up my angry, flailing baby. I took a couple months off of wrist-heavy poses, and I'm having a hard time incorporating them again without serious wrist pain. The issue seems to be a general lack of strength in my wrist muscles. At least, I think that's it. Poses that require bent wrists to support my body are fine if done occasionally, but my wrists both flare up and are very painful if I do that type of practice more than twice in a week. Down dog seems fine, it's just planks and even cat/cow that are painful because of the angle the wrist is bent. I know I can modify with blocks or use fists to support me, which I do. I'm trying to build strength and stamina of my wrists, though. I'm sure that picking up and carrying my now-toddler is making this more difficult; I try to be aware of my wrist positioning when picking him up, but I know I'm straining my tendons more than I should. Does anyone have suggestions? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 10:49 AM PST Hello! I'm a beginner to yoga. Just started beginning of this year and I've been doing the yoga with adriene 30 day challenge. I noticed my legs are always bent during down dog. It's very painful to stretch it straight and perform the perfect v for this pose. Anyone had this struggle before? How long did it take you to finally be able to stretch out your legs and perform the perfect v for down dog? [link] [comments] |
| Knee instability/pain since starting daily practice Posted: 17 Jan 2021 06:06 PM PST I tried searching for this particular problem but haven't exactly found an answer. Ive just started daily practice of yoga for about a month. I never really had knee pain or any issues with my knees prior to starting. Now I notice that my knees feel unstable at times and will give me twinge of pain at odd moments. For example, I went to do a wall ball squat (deep squat with a power thrust to toss a weighted ball) and had a sudden twinge in my knee that has a sort of unstable feeling about it. I also get the same sense if I try certain yoga poses that require pulling the foot up from behind (bow pose). Im wondering if maybe the sudden increase in flexibility without the accompanying muscle strength might be a culprit or if there might be something else. Any tips? My thoughts are to try some muscle strengthening activities that are knee specific to try to build muscle to support the knees. Any other tips or thoughts are appreciated. [link] [comments] |

| Almost done with my TT and I feel simply I don’t belong (teaching yoga as a recovering addict?) Posted: 17 Jan 2021 07:49 AM PST How did you relate to your group when in the TT? I feel so different from them in mine, I indeed have a condition (I'm a recovering addict) and I have this sense that I'm too broken to teach yoga and to be part of such community. I've felt less than all the time - I wanted to leave every time a training weekend had passed. I even skipped the last weekend of the training - I felt if this is yoga where I hate myself I don't want this. I'm not sure if I have these feelings because I'm in a sensitive emotional state due to the training and/or in general but I've been anxious about the training since day 1 (doubting myself and my abilities) and I'm just wondering if any of you had similar experiences with
I'm so grateful in advance ♥️ A broken yogi [link] [comments] |
| What are these wrist stretches called? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 04:58 PM PST Check out the first 2 stretches in this video. Try them out, can you do them? I can barley get my arms parallel to my body. What are they called? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:32 PM PST So every time I go through the flow of Surya Namaskar and blood rush to and from my head, it hurts my head so much, like a painful ache and part of this is that it happens when I'm dehydrated I think but if anybody has any input thatd be helpful. | Hi I used to be a gymnast and do cheerleading havent done exercise for 3 years. Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:05 PM PST Used to be extremely flexible because I used to have to train hard as a gymnast could do all leg splits and bend my back leg in splits and put it on my head, over doing the splits. I could do chest balance and stand up. But I'm 22f obviously haven't done exercise in over 3 years. Gonna be really stiff and it gonna be hard. But one of my goals this year was to get flexible again. So been doing some stretching like I used to and some yoga twice a week. Any advice on some good yoga/ stretching videos I could try. Basically said all of it in the title. (It said it was too much for the title) But i really want to get back down in splits. And I really want to get more flexible again that is my goal. Been doing the yoga/ stretching with a friend. Because I know/ always find when I set myself to do exercise myself I never get round to it. My auntie is legit a gymnastic coach and so is my cousin. And they have a new gym and I went in like a few month ago to see what I could still do hurt my back really bad. I know 3 years ago I was still doing like one handed walkovers. And I'm actually nearly down in my good leg splits right now just off the few weeks. But I am naturally quite double jointed. Well I thought I was but been doing gymnastics since I were 2. | Tips for a beginner with health anxiety Posted: 17 Jan 2021 02:50 PM PST I'm not much into sports. I've been quite sedentary for the last few years, a high heart rate is a trigger for me and my health anxiety. I saw yoga as a gentle form to move my body, I feel much better after it. But sometimes my mind goes to some crazy places like I'll get injured or give myself a stroke. Today, for exemple, after a long time, I decided to try some yoga and during half camel pose, I could feel a sharp pain in one side of my neck/shoulder when breathing in, I took around 2-3 breaths before giving up on the pose and now I keep thinking I gave myself a stroke lol (I know it's a bit irrational, but my brain still worries). What can I do to make my practices safer and what kind of pain or discomfort is "normal"? [link] [comments] |
| Poses for right external hips and glutes? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:28 AM PST My upper glutes and the outside part of my hips are always extremely tight — is there a set of poses I could make a daily routine of that might help? [link] [comments] |
| I need more discipline with my practice Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:55 AM PST Hello! I have recently started doing yoga and... I love it. It makes me feel so good, I have fun, I'm learning how to focus on what's happening right now and coordinating my breathing with my movements. I find it amazing. On the other hand, I would love to do it more - but I have no discipline. I don't have a specific time on the day/week where it's yoga time, sometimes I don't feel like doing it (even though I want to), I find other things to do... Kind of procrastination. I try to think on the good things yoga brings me as motivation, but it's not enough. I would love to do yoga every day or every two days, but sometimes I spend a whole week without going on my mat. I would love to know if you've ever felt like this (or still feel like this), and you could tell me your tricks! Also, if you feel like this at the moment, I hope you find information that might be helpful here. Thank you!! Have a great day <3 [link] [comments] |
