Posted: 27 Mar 2021 08:44 AM PDT Just got my Manduka pro mat today and I really like it! I did a quick flow and a longer yin session to test it out and it's been really good for my knees. I didn't get any of the slipping that people complain about so I was pleasantly surprised by that! That's all I wanted to share! Have a good day :) [link] [comments] |
How do I get my leg to my hands in downward dog transition? Posted: 27 Mar 2021 01:24 PM PDT So I recently started yoga up again and I've been doing it consistently for almost two months. However when I'm in downward dog and move forward to a lunge I cannot get my leg all the way to my hands. I always get maybe halfway and then have to physically move my leg up. What do I need to work on to be able to do this? [link] [comments] |

Soreness in neck and shoulders Posted: 27 Mar 2021 04:49 PM PDT Hi friends! I have been doing yoga by adriene's 30 day yoga challenge on YouTube and just finished day 7. Right now I am feeling a lot of soreness and experiencing some swelling in my left shoulder, but also feeling tightness and the top of my left arm and left side of my neck. Is this normal from a new yoga practice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Mar 2021 01:31 PM PDT Hey all! I picked up a copy of Iyengar's Light on Yoga and after about a week of every day practice I noticed that my left hip is starting slip and cause some fairly intense discomfort. Has anyone else faced this? And if so what can I do to help improve it? I'd really like to continue my practice but I'm afraid that it will worsen if I continue to do what I've been doing. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Mar 2021 10:21 AM PDT I have a dedicated yoga space at home and I would love to have an anatomical poster or posters that shows the skeleton, muscles, and tendons to refer to so I know where to focus when I have a tight area. Does anyone have a good source to purchase something like this in the US? Bonus if it's artsy so I don't feel like I'm in a doctor's office. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Mar 2021 04:15 PM PDT Im starting doing yoga because COVID19 and wome depression issues right now im feeling better but still have some questions. How much time i have to stay in a position? Do i have to force my own body to do a position? Like using my hands to push my legs or stuff like that? Its ok if the positions hurts a little? Thank you so much for your comments. [link] [comments] |
2mm mat versus 4mm for everyday use Posted: 27 Mar 2021 01:36 PM PDT Hi guys! i started hot yoga about a month and a half ago. My 6mm gaiam mat is fine but it's too thick and is annoying to roll up and carry around (from my car to the studio, lol) so I'm looking for something thinner. Yoga outlet has the b yoga mats on sale and I'm looking at the 2mm and the 4mm mats. I like the idea of 4mm but like the price of the 2mm much better so I was wondering if getting a thicker mat is worth the $15ish extra dollars. I was also considering getting both because YOLO. For reference I'm a chonky 27F, no chronic joint issues, I only do hot yoga (yin, vinyasa, power, and the 21/17 sequences). It'd be for everyday use, no traveling. I've attended 27 classes thus far so ideally I would continue to go 4-5 times a week. Differences in length isn't important. Also... do the bmats feel... rubbery? I think I'd be grossed out by a rubbery feeling mat so I'm concerned about that also. Thanks you guys! [link] [comments] |
Popping sensation behind my right gluteus. Posted: 27 Mar 2021 08:47 AM PDT Recently I decided to incorporate the Romanian Deadlift to my routine, but I have notice that when I'm reaching the lower part of the movement there is a popping sensation right behind my right gluteus exactly where the femur and pelvis met. It's no painful at all, but it feels weird. Another thing is that I have been trying to incorporate different stretching exercise to my morning routine and I found a popping sensation when I'm lying on the floor and I bring my right knee towards my chest to stretch the leg. I have been unable to exactly detect where is happening but it feels like in the front part of the hip. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Mar 2021 03:03 AM PDT I'm a relatively baby yoga person looking for recs on where you get your mats from? For some context- My yoga teacher who I loved ended up moving and I couldn't find anyone close by who did classes that fit my work schedule so started doing some YouTube vids. I picked up a mat from a sports store but they had a super tiny selection- It's manageable but slippery and I've just started throwing a towel on top. I've only just started again over the last 2 weeks but I want to stick with it so looking to invest in a mat that will last me awhile and I won't worry about falling on my face. I did read the stickies but wonder where people bought from? The current mat is a brown bahe mat- can't remember which one anymore. Any recs would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
