Ashtanga yoga: Making up my own sequence? |
| Posted: 07 Apr 2021 02:55 PM PDT I'm pretty new to Ashtanga and all 'self taught' so far (many thanks to David Swenson 🥰) and I'm at the point now where I'm comfortably finishing the 45 minute short form and want to expand on the number of asanas I practice. I'm progressing through the variations of the asanas included quite easily, but at what point and how could I incorporate new ones? I don't really have time to do any more than 45mins - 1hr practice a day at the moment (this will change in a few months hopefully), so want to keep it short but I'm just not getting quite the same enjoyment without the challenge of figuring out a new asana (although I am definitely enjoying the new peace I'm finding in the current ones). Anyway, I hope this makes sense and apologies if it's been asked and answered before. As soon as I can get to a Mysore class I plan to, but money and pandemic are gatekeeping rn :( Any tips/advice would be appreciated, I don't want to do anything silly without realising! ETA: I forgot to say, would it be a terrible idea to make up my own 'short form' that incorporates some new (to me) asanas? [link] [comments] |
