Surya namaskar - essential yoga routine? Posted: 07 Apr 2021 01:11 PM PDT Hi, I'd love to start doing yoga, however I am not very flexible, nor strong really and I also don't have that much time. So I was wondering about just performing the sun salutations. Does the sequence basically work the whole body and is a sort of full routine by itself? What are you experiences with sun salutations? I mostly want to stretch and strengthen my body and maybe even lose a few pounds. [link] [comments]
Tips for overstretching hamstrings? Posted: 07 Apr 2021 12:41 PM PDT Hi guys, I went back to hot yoga and I haven't been for three weeks and I believe that I overstretched my hamstrings. They've been in pain for two days I don't think I pulled anything or ripped anything it's just more like soreness. I'm pretty sure it was from all of the folds. Do you guys have any tips or little stretches I can do to warm up my legs and make them feel better? Or just any types of tips to help with the pain I feel. I only feel pain when I bend over like to touch my toes so it's not constant. [link] [comments]
| Video recommendations for strength flows for beginners? Posted: 07 Apr 2021 02:27 PM PDT Hello! New to yoga & lurking on this sub over the last month. I recently discovered Patrick Beach's "Strength Basics" flow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEcx-DmQas0) and really love it. It's pretty basic and just goes through chair pose // planks // pushups // boat pose, but I really love that there's a good flow, the poses are accessible for beginners, and it's challenging enough that I can feel myself getting stronger. Does anyone know of similar videos for beginners? I did a quick search for strength building yoga on Youtube, but a lot of what I saw seemed to be either more advanced or a bit more geared towards flexibility/mindfulness. Thanks so much! | Posted: 07 Apr 2021 09:06 AM PDT Hello friends! I just completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and I am so excited to start teaching! I know I should create a resume to hand out to studios that I'd like to teach at. However, my experience is so limited that I think I'll have a hard time filling up even half a page, much less a full page. Any advice for how I should format my resume and the extent of what I should include aside from my YTT? Is it appropriate to create a half page handout to give to studios or should the resume be a full page? Any advice is much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2021 08:04 AM PDT In my journey of becoming a yoga teacher, I was practising every single day poses to open my hips. But I forced my body too much, in fact I was experiencing an inflammation on the left side (I can feel a discomfort at the head of the femur and at the groin) but I kept going since, during my sun salutation, I stuck in down facing dog and couldn't come up again. 😂 I tried some acupressure and laser. I applied some Arnica and I am having turmeric tea as much as I can. I went to an osteopath and I now feel a little better but I can still feel some pain and I want to completely heal before getting back to my full practise. The osteopath gave me some stretching exercises to do, because she think that is a posture problem I have to fix. So I am doing these exercises every single day. Any suggestion for pain relief? Natural or ayurvedic treatment? Any pose that can help? I really appreciate any advice. TIA Take care! 🧘♀️ [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Apr 2021 06:23 AM PDT Hi everyone! I have been practicing yoga for many years now. I've been practicing nearly daily over the last year at home and can feel and see so much improvement -- I just love it! I'm looking forward to studios re-opening here -- hopefully they will in the next month or so. Until then, I thought I'd ask this community for advice. I have always struggled with wheel pose. Other backbends -- camel, bow, wild thing, etc -- are totally do-able and even feel good. I think the issue is tightness in my arms/shoulders. When I get into the pose, I can't get my arms fully straight and my elbows splay out. Doing it against the wall with blocks helps. , I know I just need to practice more and be patient. Unfortunately, since I associate the pose with discomfort I tend to just stick to bridge. It's started to become a bit of a thing, especially as I get more advanced -- I know I shouldn't fixate on it, but it does bother me that it's such a struggle. I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had any tips for me/things that worked for them? I'm thinking shoulder openers like puppy pose? But no matter how much I try to open my shoulders I still really struggle with wheel! I don't think it's a strength thing either as I've got quite a strong practice. Any suggestions are very welcome! Thank you so much :) [link] [comments]

Can you help me to develop a morning routine? I'm actually a triathlete, but I love yoga Posted: 07 Apr 2021 12:17 AM PDT Hi yogis of reddit! I hope it's okay to post this here, if not, please delete. Also I'm sorry for any mistakes in my text, English is not my first language. I'm actually a long-distance runner/triathlete and got into yoga via some classes a few years ago. It helps me a lot to relax and has so many nice stretches. I'm now looking for some poses (would that be called a "flow"?) I can do every morning for like 15 to 20 minutes, which would help me to stay flexible in my legs and also gain a little more upper body strenght. Why everyday? It's a lot more easier for me to do something everyday, the same time of the day than only two or so times a week. I watched a lot of videos, but most of them are to long for a quick morning routine or too specialized on one part of the body. Can you suggest me some not-too-advanced poses for such a routine? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you very much! [link] [comments]
